Selene shifted backward as she pulled her brows together in confusion. "I don't understand. Why would you do that?"
"Because I made you a promise not to tell anybody about Cyrus," Sandy said immediately, looking up at her now-confused sister.
"Why was Cyrus in the picture in the first place, Sandy? You're still not making any sense," Selene said, shaking her head as she tried to piece together what Sandy was saying, but still couldn't.
She had thought this was about that guy Sandy was seeing, or even about the fact that they were both about to face their father tomorrow, and the anxiety that came with it, but it turns out she was wrong.
"Selene, you have to believe I never intended for him to see Cyrus," Sandy said, as she could now see that Selene's expression had turned serious at the mention of her son's name.
"Who saw Cyrus?" Selene said, standing up, her entire body now on alert.
"Ricky, the guy I told you about," Sandy said.
