Staring at the information displayed on the screen in front of him, Morin couldn't help but frown, deep in thought.
The concept of an intermediate world was easy enough to understand, as the assistant had previously explained the classification of dimensional worlds based on their power levels and the main characters within them. Worlds like Sword Art Online were primarily virtual game worlds—SAO, ALO, or GGO. These worlds, despite their life-threatening battle scenarios in SAO, were mostly composed of peaceful environments in the real world, where players leveled up through gaming. The protagonists in such worlds were regular people with power levels based on the game's mechanics. It wasn't surprising that the assistant considered it a primary dimensional world.
However, the Black Bullet world was a completely different story. The Gastrea Virus and the resulting creatures had nearly annihilated humanity. Morin recalled that the protagonists in this world were anything but ordinary; their strength far surpassed the average human's. The fact that this world was considered an intermediate world was, without question, accurate.
As for replacing the somewhat deranged Hiruko Kagetane, who was classified as an intermediate villain, Morin could only assume his strength was formidable given the madman's reputation. Morin looked over the rules. The explanation was straightforward: after an individual with Initial Authority entered an intermediate dimensional world, their strength would be evaluated, and adjustments would be made based on that evaluation and the difficulty of the world. According to the assistant's analysis, Morin's strength didn't seem to be a match for the dangers of the Black Bullet world, hence the provision of some form of compensation.
While the news was mixed—good in that he'd get compensation, but bad in that the world was so dangerous—Morin had to admit that the compensation offered was practical, especially given the assistant's assessment.
"What kind of compensation can I receive? And can I choose it myself?" Morin asked, his eyes flickering with curiosity.
"No," the assistant replied flatly, shooting down Morin's hopes before continuing, "The compensation options available to you are either a refined Hyper-Varanium metal weapon or an improved version of Hiruko Kagetane's Repulsion Generator."
Morin briefly ignored the option of a Hyper-Varanium weapon, as he was more interested in the Repulsion Generator. He understood the significance of Hyper-Varanium, a metal discovered in volcanic regions that had been crucial in humanity's fight against the Gastrea, but the Repulsion Generator was the more intriguing option.
"What's the deal with the improved version of Hiruko Kagetane's Repulsion Generator?" Morin asked, already leaning toward that choice.
The assistant responded, "The improved version of the Repulsion Generator is an exclusive item tied to Hiruko Kagetane. The prototype was fully integrated with his flesh and blood. This improved version is much smaller and can be fused with an item designated by the authority holder. It can deflect attacks through mental repulsion, with the maximum limit being the ability to deflect direct heavy artillery shell strikes. However, the rebound force from this defense will be absorbed by the user."
Morin's eyes widened as the assistant projected an image of the Repulsion Generator. It was a small, black orb, no bigger than a marble, but the power it represented was immense. Deflecting heavy artillery? That was nothing short of extraordinary.
"This could defend against some of the heaviest attacks," Morin thought, already feeling more inclined to choose it. Compared to Hyper-Varanium weapons, which could be useful in direct combat, the Repulsion Generator seemed far more versatile in protecting him from powerful enemies.
"I choose the Repulsion Generator. Fuse it with the Spatial Belt," Morin decided quickly.
The assistant's confirmation followed shortly, "Confirmed."
A black sphere, roughly the size of an egg, materialized in front of Morin. Before he could react, it hovered toward his waist, merging seamlessly with the Spatial Belt he was wearing, becoming a hollowed-out metal belt buckle.
The Repulsion Generator had now become a part of his gear, ready to defend him in the hostile world he had just entered.
