Anastasia rushed into the garage and got into her car, her hands shaking slightly as she turned the ignition.
The sun was already up, bright and sharp, like it was mocking her for waking up late. As she drove, she kept checking the dashboard clock every few seconds.
"Fifteen minutes late," she whispered to herself. "Just fifteen… maybe no one will notice." Anastasia thought, with a worried look on her face.
But deep down, she knew someone would.
She parked hastily at the company's lot, grabbed her bag, and speed-walked inside the building.
The elevator ride felt longer than usual. Her heart thudded in her chest like a ticking bomb.
'What if the departmental chief is mad at me? What if he reports me to Mason? What if Nicholas hears?' Her head was filled with different thoughts.
