Eyrx's brows furrowed deeply, and his jaw clenched. "No."
Just that. One word, said in a final tone.
Thalina exhaled slowly, already expecting that stubborn response. She folded her arms across her chest, ignoring the way the morning breeze tousled her hair or how her stomach turned every few seconds. "You're not thinking straight."
"I'm not taking a pregnant female into a forest filled with beasts and venomous plants," he said flatly, already starting to rewrap his arm with the hide. "Especially not one who doesn't even know the difference between fever root and foxbane."
"I know enough to use my brain," she snapped. "Which is more than I can say for you—oh great, untouchable beast, who's currently rotting alive."
His fingers paused.
"I'm not some useless, weak female, Eyrx. I have survived so many things, I've dealt with worse than plants trying to eat me, and in case you forgot—when we fought yesterday, I didn't hold back."
