Chapter 109 - Endless chain(10)

As the weirdly white glowing light slowly vanished, descending far beneath, into the endless sea of that very same light, or at least light of the same colour, turning the black stones that had been encasing the black goo into nothing but air, that very same greenish goo was left behind, now laying on the floor, pulsating as if life had truly just come from that goo that was now laying in front of Cades feet, slowly starting to squirm and move as if it was trying to reform but unable to, perhaps because of the lightning he had used.

The greenish glowing goo was slowly turning into a more physical appearance, abandoning it's semi-liquid state and instead starting to crawl apart as if made out of worms, but before it could do that Cade shad already summoned a dome-like shield to encase it under as he doubted that these worm-like creatures could bite or really do anything to the endless chain that the being would perhaps not even have been able to damage in it's previous form.

Cades watched with a slight smile curving his lips upwards as the worms suddenly began to panic as soon as they started to hit a wall that hindered them from going outwards, even more so than when they had lost their protective shielding just mere moments ago, resulting in them transforming into these gooey little abominations.

And as he watched the little gooey apparitions starting to panic he began to notice how they fell apart, transforming back into their liquid state as the greenish glow finally vanished, turning into a kind of golden light that had now condensed itself and was moving towards Cades at a surprisingly fast pace, causing Cades to look at it and stretch out his right hand, the only one he had left.

As the silver blade fell to the ground the golden apparition had already reached his hand, but instead of entering his body directly like all the other lights that had been appearing when he killed something up to now it instead started to curl up, the long snake-like light starting to transform and shine much brighter than before, until, a few seconds later, it just stopped shining completely and there was something in his hand, something physical.

In his hand there was something small, only about as big as a marble but much heavier than one, it was about as heavy as a small boulder a small child would heave up to prove their strength, though in this scenario it seemed quite a lot heavier due to the sheer difference in volumee.

It was cold and spread out a intent, an intent of movement, an intent he knew very well from the three stones Manug had given him, and at that point he began to think about what had happened back when Manug had truly died, what had happened when that golden stone had entered his body, about what had happened, about what he had simply did not wish to think off.

Perhaps, just maybe, that golden stone had been the power of him, had been his authorification to receive these stones, the stones that contained actives and sometimes constantes, perhaps it had been his last gift to him, or perhaps he had taken it from him, perhaps he had been the thieve who stole his magic, perhaps it had always, truly, belonged to him.

Now that Cades truly began to think about it, feeling the uneven stone marble in his hand, he began to realized that neither at this monster not at Manug himself did any kind of energy, none of their mana, ever climb into his body to strengthen it, nothing of that nature happened, instead the strings of mana had been replaced by these stones in both cases, by new powers as he now began to realize.

The first time it had happened he hadn't really realized that, at that point in time it was quite wondrous that he was even able to understand that he should destroy the stone, that he had to do gain power, and even then he barely had any thoughts behind it, but now he could finally think, finally try and figure out what was up with this new power of his, if he was correct in his assumption.

He slowly and carefully lifted the golden marble up, and began to view it while he was holding it up high in the air but still quite close to his only working eye, holding it with two fingers of his only remaining arm, something that he now started to find ever so slightly amusing in the darkest depths of his mind as he began to realize that if this worked, then one could say he had sacrificed his own arm and eye for this power, and that it would technically not even be a lie.

As he watched the see-through golden marble with a kind of greenish light inside that had now all but fainted with only it's sad and little remnants remaining he began to smile and felt how it put a slight strain on the muscles of his face after not smiling for so long.

After all he hadn't had any cause to smile for quite some time, but now, now, he might really have a reason to smile brighter than before, wider than before, and longer than before, and now he would soon test it, but first he wanted to feel the intent inside that little marble, he wanted to understand it, he wanted to feel how it worked.

He already assumed that the being that had just attacked him had been using it's own intent to eight against him, perhaps by utilizing it in various different techniques, but this thing seemed to probably work in a similar way, and as such it was very much in his interest to try and understand it, though he would've liked to first experiment with the goo before it vanished.

After a short time of deliberation and simply looking at the beautiful uneven sphere that exuded the intent of movement, something that quite confused him, he began the real investigation and closed his eyes, trying to interact with the intent without master with his own, something he had no practice in.
