Cades was calm now, his main weakness right now had been disabled, the fact that he was weakened in relation to his body to such a degree that he was unable to balance himself, now he could simply block the attacks from the monster using his shields that he had been polishing during the fight against the hunter.
Though truthfully the shields were more so instinctual than anything else as they mainly consisted of condensing the mana belonging to ones own body and commanding it to protect oneself or shield the arm of the enemy, causing the impact to be absorbed and the arm to be held back, something that to a magician is a basic step in training.
However most magicians never really do something like Cades was doing right now due to the sheer difference in the amount of magical energy between ranks, at least on ehetria he would be about two ranks above everyone else after all, just like that monstrosity he had fought on the forest island.
At least that was what he had managed to figure out on this way of casting magic, it was faster and in some ways more powerful, especially the construct-type spells, but overall he was still not entirely used to it and the only reason he had really used it right now was to push the enemy back and cause it to lose it's balance, something that quickly passed, and secondly, to be able to cast the magic quick enough to counter the way that the golem-like monster was fighting, preferably while protecting his still weakened body.
And indeed he was capable of blocking the attacking palm of the weird monsters whose stance had now changed into a kind of bad copy of a traditional martial artist with a powerful foothold on the ground that Cades was certain was being enhanced by some kind of magical power, or, as he had now begun realizing, perhaps intent.
However, as he blocked the attack he was capable of attacking himself, and this time he actually succeeded in slicing through the invisible force that had previously halted him, perhaps because the being that he was now slicing with surprising ease was already distracted by the fact that there was a violet-orange shield in the air that had stopped his attack, not exactly something you see every day.
And indeed, in comparison to last time the transparent dome that was now protecting him, forming a kind of protection that had allowed himself to phase through as if made out of nothing but vapour was now of a different colour than before, before it had been of a light but transparent violet, but now it was still mostly transparent and slightly crystallin but made out of a orange violet mixture of colours, a difference that Cades didn't even really acknowledge as he attacked the being directly with his blade for the second time, utilizing the moment of confusion after it was first attacked to further the damage he had already dealt.
The first attack he had dealt managed to slice across the right leg, the one in the front of the posture and caused the monster to arch over in an attempt to desperately defend the other one from the smaller and much aster opponents, something that simply resulted from the difference in both the stature of their bodies but also the nature of their styles seeing that Cades had been fighting against bigger opponents for quite some time while the monster had probably been fighting against the same opponents which in his case more so meant that he had been fighting against equally big opponents.
As such Cades second attack managed to cut right into his arched over body that was about to lash out in anger as the monster lost it's perceived confidence and calm presence, resulting in anger, but instead Cades cut through the back and left behind a deep gash in the surprisingly soft rock that began to exude a kind of greenish liquid.
The liquid sprayed on the already dirty robe that Manug had given him and turned it even heavier than it had been with all the orange liquid and some of his own blood that had been covering and residing within the fabric of the cloak before as he began to think about the similarities to this and the wooden puppets that sprayed a similar liquid, just orange.
Perhaps, he thought, it could be something that transformed the mana through the bodies that probably didn't have arteries or natural mana anymore, on the other hand it could also be something to do with magical sicknesses, but either way eh was sure of the fact that he was winning now, especially when he felt the mana radiating from the liquid, mana that seemed to be inviting, or in other words, conductive mana capable of conducting his lightning.
And as such the third attack was destined to be the last, and as he attacked the being whose only real advantage above him had been the fact of it's physically complete being, the fact that it still had all it's limbs and bodily parts, this time with an overload as powerful as he could muster after having exhausted quite a lot of mana onto dominating the surrounding with his shields, something that had been quite a foolish decision to so easily make.
He filled his mana into the active and in turn forcing that active into his sword, and then finally, after a fraction of a second, stabbing that sword right into the open gash of the demonic monster made of stone, causing it's insides that were indeed quite conductive, opposite to it's outer appearance, to be seared and start boiling.
Finally, after what had seemed like quite a long time but had actually only been about ten seconds in actuality the monster fell down, starting to convulse in quite the interesting way, with the imaginary muscles that had been replaced by the skin turning into naught but light and fleeing towards the sea of lightning from which it seemed to originate, and as such the white light vanished, only leaving behind a kind of greenish pulsating goo from which steam had begun rising.
