Chapter 11 - Appraisal

[Prepare for Appraisal…]

Casper found himself in a black void, illuminated by a myriad of stars. Each star burned brightly, some faded while others increased its intensity. Ethereal silver strings of light wove each star to each other.

Casper coldly awaited for the Spell to finish Appraising him, he didn't feel happy or warm at knowing that he completed his Nightmare. He just felt empty.

Soon the Spell was done with its appraisal, it's smooth voice echoed throughout the unfamiliar space.

[Aspirant! Your trial is over]

[An anomaly entered the Spell, slowly parasitizing the Aspirant. Taking over his body he set sail with his armada in the unfound sea, countless monsters fell to his hateful hand as he met *** First Mistake.

His army fell apart facing the primordial beast, but he managed to prevail. He faced the Blessed of War, slowly evolving from her inferior to match her capabilities.

But Fate intervened in their combat as they faced the turned abomination. He faced an unruly alliance and an immortal serpent but managed to prevail, beating both Fate and ***

Unbroken he goat casted with the Mark of Cain and betrayed by his subordinates. Captured by War's followers his will was tested but he remained unfazed and slaughtered them all, ending the war between the Lord of Light and the God of Life.]

[You have defeated a Great Titan: God's Mistake, The First Abomination, Cain]

[You have defeated a Dormant Beast: Sea dweller]

[You have defeated a Dormant Beast: Sea dweller]

[You have defeated a Dormant Beast: Sea dweller]

[You have defeated….]

[You have defeated an Awakened human, Javi]

[You have defeated seventeen Awakened, names unknown]

[You have defeated five Ascended, names unknown]

[You have achieved the improbable]

[Final Appraisal: Remarkable. Your hate surpasses entire dimensions.]

The final part made Casper narrow his eyes, was the Spell suggesting that he was the most vengeful person, whose hate transcends dimensions?

Casper expected to get a Divine Aspect, as he had started far away from his previous fate but the following words from the Spell made his lips twitch.

[Dreamer Casper, receive your boon!]

[You have been bestowed a True Name, Key of Stars]

[Your Aspect is ready to evolve. Evolve Aspect?]

Casper said yes, his voice resounded in the dark space.

[Dormant Aspect Traveller is evolving…]

[New Aspect acquired]

[Aspect Rank: Sacred.]

[Aspect Name: Planeswalker]

Casper looked at his Aspect rank with a bit of annoyance, he had done everything he could possibly do to stay away from his original fate and yet he wasn't judged to be worthy enough to receive a Divine Aspect.

Casper closed his eyes as he suppressed his seething rage.

Aspect: [Planeswalker].

Aspect Rank: Sacred.

Aspect Description: [Your existence is lonesome and empty, your only hope for companionship is the vast cosmos beyond. You are the key to all mysterious worlds, the guide to the endless cosmos.]

Innate Ability: [Divination]

Ability Description: [The future is yours to grasp, visions flood your mind when you command them. But know, divination isn't all that powerful.]

Casper read his runes, it was powerful, really powerful. His Aspect could be considered Semi-Divine but in the end, against Divine Aspect wielders he would fall out.

He had to strive for a Divine Aspect, he would gain a Divine Aspect, no matter what.

[The First Seal is broken.]

[Awakening dormant powers…]

Casper felt something being born inside him, a sharp pain emanated from his chest as he clutched his chest. The feeling wasn't painful but it wasn't pleasant either.

He felt his soul shake as though it was being infused with unknown power, 'This must be the Soul Sea,' Casper bitterly thought.

The energy filled every fiber of his being. Casper felt his emotions becoming clearer and sharper. Then, his body began to change, too. He felt as though a miniature star was burning in the center of his chest: waves of heat were radiating from it, slowly reaching his stomach and shoulders, then his arms and legs, then his hands and feet.

He felt his body being rebuilt, gradually it was growing stronger and stronger, surpassing its previous limitations.

With each second, his transformation grew profound as body became slightly bulky and stronger. With his powers awakened and his will tempered by the horrors of the First Nightmare, he was now someone you would not want to cross.

Casper's vision doubled as he saw an illusory sea in front of him. In front of him was an illusory blue door present, circling it was his memories, [The First Blade] and [Impervious Armour]

His axe was sadly destroyed after he used it to decapitate the Leviathan, it seems like the strain he put on it was too much.

He felt his body warm up as a swelling feeling grew in his chest.

The Spell's voice suddenly pulled him out of the Sea of Soul.

[Awakening Aspect Ability…]

Casper knew that even if one has a Divine ranked Aspect, and would gradually grow into a powerhouse they would still start out weak if their Aspect Ability wasn't that strong.

[Aspect Ability acquired.]

[Aspect Ability Name: Spatial Displacement.]

Casper summoned the runes of his ability. He wanted to see whether it was what he had expected but then he decided to check his overall information.

Name: Casper

True Name: Key of Stars

Rank: Dreamer.

Soul Core: Dormant

Soul Fragments: [0/1000]

Memories: [First Blade], [Impervious Armour]

Echoes: [Cain]

Attributes: [Supernatural Senses], [Mark of Oddity], [Child of Darkness], [Incorporeal], [Dreamspawn]

Aspect: [Planeswalker].

Aspect Rank: Sacred.

Aspect Abilities: [Spatial Displacement].

Aspect Ability Description: [Space is under your command, you can displace yourself anywhere within a set radius.]

Casper's eyes narrowed as his previous guess was on the mark, his Aspect ability would let him teleport anywhere within a set radius. This could be 100 meters or 1 kilometre.

Simultaneously, the Spell's voice resounded in the black void.

[All power has a price.]

[You have received a Flaw.]

[Your Flaw is: Shadow Self]

Casper's eyes widened as a trace of panic flashed through his eyes, replacing his icy demeanour, 'Not again, not again, no, no, no!'

"Please don't do this" Casper begged the Spell, but it was already set in stone.

[Wake up, Key of Stars!]

The Spell bellowed with pleasure.
