"Wet the soil first, then use Earthquake to disperse the burnt ground completely. That should take care of it. After that, we'll start digging holes and preparing for planting."
Under Evan's direction, the Pokémon got to work.
Dragonite let out a powerful cry, summoning dark clouds that quickly gathered in the sky.
"Wow!"
Just as Rosa was about to speak, heavy rain suddenly poured down from the sky.
Evan stood frozen in place.
Not just him—everyone in the orchard and the nearby hills found themselves caught in the downpour. Pokémon living in the area scurried for shelter as the unexpected rain drenched the land.
Evan turned to Dragonite with a pained expression.
"Did you really have to go all out?"
He wanted to complain further but stopped himself when he saw Rosa.
Instead, he silently gave a thumbs-up in his heart.
"Don't look!"
Face flushed red, Rosa turned and ran off.
This was beyond embarrassing.
Evan scratched his cheek, muttering to himself.
"Not bad, actually..."
Dragonite tilted its head, looking at Evan in confusion.
Did it do something wrong?
"Forget it, I won't argue with you. Just stop the rain."
"Onix, use Earthquake."
Although Evan was at a loss for words, he couldn't deny the scene was quite the spectacle.
Rosa dashed off to change clothes, frustrated by how suddenly the rain had come. She hadn't expected Dragonite to summon such a downpour, drenching her in an instant—and letting that guy Evan see her like this.
She had never been so flustered before.
She would remember this grudge!
Evan also went to change clothes before returning to oversee the Pokémon finishing the land preparations.
At the same time, he contacted his previous berry seedling suppliers, placing a large order and requesting delivery for the next day.
After the soil was prepared, Evan directed the Ground-type Pokémon to dig holes one by one.
He stayed busy all afternoon.
Once the pits were ready, Evan instructed the Pokémon to spread tree berry ash inside.
With that, the groundwork was complete.
Next came the planting.
By the time Evan finished, night had already fallen.
The following day, Evan asked Isla and the others to start processing some of the tree berries while he continued planting.
The saplings arrived early in the morning, delivered by the berry suppliers.
With the Pokémon from the nursery, Evan got straight to work.
By noon, the entire base of the mountain was filled with berry seedlings.
"Alright," Evan said, nodding in satisfaction. "Thank you, everyone."
"Lurantis, for the next few days, I need you to lead the other Grass-type Pokémon in taking care of these saplings. Understand?"
Evan turned to his Lurantis, speaking seriously.
These berry seedlings would normally take two to three days to establish themselves. With Grass-type Pokémon assisting, the process would speed up, ensuring better growth.
Lurantis gave an understanding nod.
"Lura~~!"
It would take care of things here.
With that settled, Evan led the Pokémon back to have lunch.
That afternoon, he brought Rosa and the others to help craft energy cubes for Violet.
Rosa followed Evan closely, listening attentively to his explanations.
She took notes and occasionally asked questions, completely focused.
"As each berry is juiced and allowed to settle, the extracted starch and sugars vary based on the type of berry ."
"There are thousands of ways a berry can settle."
"These extracted components are then combined with other berries, complementing one another to create new substances."
"What we extract from berries can be perfectly absorbed by Pokémon when eaten."
"To put it simply, Pokémon can consume top-quality energy cubes without producing waste."
"Because every component in the energy cubes is fully absorbed, their strength is directly enhanced."
Evan explained the concept in the most straightforward and crude manner possible, despite it being common knowledge.
Listening to him, Rosa suddenly had black lines forming on her face.
This guy…
He makes it sound so simple and easy to understand.
"Additionally, baking ingredients at different temperatures produces different effects."
"Think of these materials like unruly students—when treated with different heat levels, they behave in completely different ways."
"Too hot, and it won't work. Too cold, and it won't work either."
"Sometimes, the stove needs to cool down before the ingredients can be baked properly."
"It's similar to the difference between cooking something in cold water versus using hot water—the results are completely different."
Evan explained all of this to Rosa with great seriousness, ensuring she understood the various methods of ingredient preparation.
Rosa diligently took notes, writing down everything he said.
After finishing his explanation, Evan couldn't help but comment:
"I've already explained all of this before."
"Isla, show Rosa your notes later."
Seeing how much she was struggling to write everything down, Evan felt compelled to help.
Isla and the others nodded in agreement.
Then, Evan continued, addressing Rosa directly:
"Alright, Isla will share her notes with you."
"In return, you can teach Isla and the others how to make Pokémon snacks."
"This way, I won't have to go through the trouble of teaching them everything about pokemon snacks myself."
"If you have any questions, just come and ask me."
"And if you mess up and make a failed batch, don't worry—there are plenty of Pokémon in the backyard who'll eat it."
Hearing this, Rosa was momentarily stunned.
Then, she turned to Evan with a look of surprise.
"Wait—you can make Pokémon snacks too?"
Her eyes suddenly lit up with excitement.
"Then… can you make Rare Candy?"
After learning that Evan could craft energy cubes, Rosa's excitement skyrocketed.
She looked at him expectantly, asking a question that left Evan momentarily confused.
"You want to learn how to make it?"
"Don't be ridiculous."
"We don't have the necessary materials!"
Evan rolled his eyes.
If he could make Rare Candy, he would have done it already.
But without the right materials, it was impossible.
Where on earth would he find leaves from the Tree of Beginning?
Rosa hesitated for a moment before responding.
"Do you mean… the leaves of the Tree of Beginning?"
Evan's eyes widened in shock.
"You have some?"
"And… you know the recipe?"
Rosa nodded.
"My grandmother met Mew once and received some leaves from the Tree of Beginning."
"But my mother completely ruined them. Rare Candy was never made, and now only a few leaves remain."
She sighed as she spoke.
Then, as if a switch had flipped, her excitement returned.
Rosa stared at Evan with an intense, almost fiery gaze.
Like she was looking at the man of her dreams.
