Evan looked around the site where trees would soon be planted.

Then, it was confirmed.

There weren't many Pokémon living here.

Most of the Pokémon had moved near the lake or closer to the area where they ate energy cubes.

After all, both food and water were available there.

The rest lived on the hill behind.

This time, Evan managed to plant all the berry trees at the foot of the back mountain.

Thinking of this, Evan called out in the direction of the back mountain.

"Onix, Dugtrio, all Ground-type and Rock-type Pokémon, come here!"

His voice echoed across the back mountain through Psychic energy.

Hearing the call, several Pokémon who had just finished eating and were basking in the sun stood up and hurried over.

Even other Pokémon that didn't belong to those types joined in, curious about what Evan needed.

As the Pokémon gathered, Evan gave instructions.

"You arrived just in time."

"Come on, I need your help with something."

"Help me plow the land at the foot of the mountain. I'll be planting berry trees tomorrow."

"Remove any useless trees, then drag them outside."

"Got it?"

After speaking, Evan looked at the wild Pokémon he had raised.

Upon hearing his request, they all nodded.

No problem at all.

A Dugtrio tilted its head and asked, "~?"

Where should we start?

Many other Pokémon also looked at Evan eagerly, awaiting directions.

Seeing this, Evan smiled and said,

"I'll mark the areas for you."

"Just till the soil where I've marked."

"Onix, follow me."

"Turn over the soil along the path I show you, got it?"

With that, Evan stepped forward, pointing out a designated area. Onix followed closely, digging up the turf as instructed.

As Evan continued, he noticed the ground was covered in feathers.

He pointed ahead and said,

"Clear out all the weeds and unnecessary plants here, then turn over the soil."

"If there's no problem, get to work."

"Machamp, you'll be in charge of bundling up the weeds and moving them outside."

"Onix, stay with me."

"There's still more land to prepare."

With the tasks assigned, Evan took Onix to plan out another section.

Evan's orchard was divided into neat sections, resembling football fields.

Each area had a different type of berry tree.

The trees were planted in an orderly fashion—one type per section.

That was how the previous areas had been arranged.

While Evan was busy, Rosa and the others had finished their meal and cleaned up.

After washing the dishes, Rosa stepped into the backyard and saw her Goodra chatting with a Dragonite by the lake.

Their affectionate interaction made her pause.

Is this... really happening?

Uh... okay then.

Rosa's expression twitched as she turned away, deciding not to dwell on it.

As she looked around, she noticed her Pokémon had already integrated into Evan's group.

Luxray was lounging under the shade with Violet's Shinx and Pikachu.

Ampharos was napping nearby.

Eating, then sleeping—so lazy.

But Rosa, familiar with her Pokémon's habits, didn't mind.

Then, she noticed movement at the foot of the back mountain.

After a moment's thought, she decided to check it out.

Walking past rows of berry trees that partially blocked her view, she spotted Evan directing a group of Pokémon to till the soil.

Two Machamp and a Lucario were hauling away weeds and unwanted plants.

Curious, Rosa approached Evan, watching the Pokémon work.

"Are you expanding the orchard?" she asked.

Hearing Rosa's voice, Evan turned to her and nodded.

"That's right."

"The berry trees over there are already growing."

"Now, we can continue expanding toward the back."

"By then, the entire back mountain will be covered with berry trees," Evan said confidently.

"After all, buying berries from outside is pretty expensive."

"It's better to grow it ourselves."

"This will also cut costs."

Hearing Evan's explanation, Rosa nodded in understanding.

I see.

Evan goes through a lot of berries here, so planting just a small amount wouldn't be enough.

Expanding the orchard makes sense.

In fact, even if the entire back mountain is planted with berry trees, it still might not be enough…

But at least it will save a lot of money.

"Do you need help?" Rosa asked.

"We'll need some insecticide and other treatments later."

"Are you planning to use any, or not?"

Turning the soil was just one step—there was still a lot of work ahead.

Otherwise, bacteria and microorganisms in the soil could affect the growth of the berry trees.

Evan grinned at her question.

"We'll use high-temperature sterilization or electricity directly."

"This is how the workers treated the soil before."

"I'll just have Charizard and some Electric-type Pokémon handle it."

"We'll blast the soil in all directions, then turn it over and do it again."

"After that, I'll sprinkle the leftover berry ash as mulch."

"It's pretty simple."

Listening to Evan's plan, Rosa felt a little overwhelmed.

Did this guy watch others do this and decide not to hire workers this time?

But thinking about it more, she understood his reasoning.

This method would save a lot of money and was incredibly efficient.

Physical sterilization worked just fine.

Then, Rosa watched as Evan carried out his plan.

Once the area was prepared, Evan called over Charizard and several Electric-type Pokémon.

"Charizard, Magnemite, Magnezone, Pikachu, Growlithe—I've got a mission for you!"

"Use Flamethrower, Thunderbolt—whatever works—to heat and sterilize the soil."

"Rosa, let me borrow your Ampharos and Luxray."

Evan quickly enlisted Rosa's two Pokémon without hesitation.

Listening to Evan's commands and watching the process unfold, Rosa was speechless.

Soon, powerful moves filled the air.

The freshly tilled soil was blasted with high heat and electricity.

Every microorganism and bacteria inside was likely wiped out completely.

Once the process was done, Evan signaled the Pokémon to stop.

Then, he called over Dragonite.

"Dragonite, use Rain Dance!"

"Get this area nice and wet."

"Onix, position yourself at the four corners."

"When the time comes, use Earthquake."

This was efficiency at its finest.

If Pokémon could handle the job, there was no need to spend extra money.

Wouldn't this save a fortune?
