The intruder turned out to be Adrian.
He now stood before Aurora, who had her arms folded beneath her chest, her expression tight with irritation, while he looked down at his feet, the very picture of guilt and innocence.
"I only wanted to see you," he murmured.
"It feels like I'm the only one who still cared to fix things between us. I'm sorry." His voice faltered, and his gaze dropped again.
Aurora's stern expression softened a little.
She had taken him to his room after offering apologies to the others on his behalf.
Stephen, however, had merely nodded and asked the others to give them some privacy. He hadn't seemed bothered in the slightest.
With a sigh, she turned to Adrian.
"What are you doing here? Did Jonathan send you?"
He shook his head. "No. I just… I missed you. I can't seem to stop thinking about you."
Her heart tugged with guilt.
Of course she missed her brother. But the fear that he might no longer be the sweet boy she once knew still lingered.
