Leon opened his eyes to find that Miranda was gone.
His position in bed had shifted slightly—his head now rested against the back of the bed, supported by a pillow beneath him.
"Did I oversleep?" Leon muttered, frowning.
Slowly, he sat up and glanced out the window. The sky, once bright with sunlight, had turned dark.
There were no clocks here, so he couldn't tell the exact time. However, he guessed it was probably around eleven at night.
He stretched his stiff body, surprised by how late it had gotten. He'd never slept this long before.
His sleeping schedule was usually precise, and even if he took a nap, he'd wake up after half an hour or an hour.
But for some reason, sleeping on Miranda's lap had felt so soothing and comfortable.
Her gentle massage, soft voice, and other little things had made him feel incredibly sleepy.
The scent of lavender and cinnamon from the bed frame beneath him had a calming effect, deepening his sleep even further.
