Friday came in a flash. I had a date with Steve and honestly I had no idea what I should wear. What does one wear on a first date? With a frustrated sigh I picked out a chiffon top and a blue Jean to go with it which just made me look too casual. I tried on a blue dress which only made my eyes look too big and worst I wasn't feeling myself in it. Funny. This used to be favourite dress. I threw it on the bed and searched again. The next dress I tried on just made me laugh. I was really loosing it. Where was Berth when I needed her most? That's right, out on a date. It was really date night today. 6pm is around the corner and I still haven't decided what to wear. Giving up on my fashion sense, I called Patricia, another perfect person for this__ a fashion goddess. Few minutes later, someone knocked at my door. I was about to tie a robe since I was buck naked when Patricia just barged in, carrying so many shopping bags.
....Leave it to her to just barge in....
"When did you go shopping? I just called you not too long ago." I knelt on the bed and sat back on my heels. My jaw dropped as I took in the display of shopping bags.
"Well I was out shopping when you made the distress call. I just bought some for you since I know what you have in your wardrobe is nothing but a disaster to fashion. Have I ever told you that?"
"A million times and if I recall I've told you a million times its not true. Pat, it's almost 6pm and I still haven't found anything to wear."
"And that's where I come in," she rummaged through the bags obviously trying to identify the bag that contains what she bought for me from hers. "Didi, I still don't know why you don't want me to tell the others. They would be mad they weren't here on your first date."
"Relax. I'm not getting married, am I? I just don't want them to make a fuss about it. I would feel more comfortable that just you knows if Steve turns out to never want to go out with me again after today."
"So, what? You think I won't laugh at you and tag you the worst date of the year?" At my raised eyebrow, she sighed. "Fine, I get it. I won't call them today but I can't promise about tomorrow."
She threw the bags on the bed and started opening the ones she picked out for me. She kept bringing out clothes and I couldn't help but stare with my mouth open.
"What?" She asked laughing. "I wasn't going to leave you stranded if one doesn't fit."
"Where will I get the money to pay you back? These clothes are expensive." I gaped at the price tags.
"Relax Didi. We are friends, remember? Need I remind you that my dad is super rich and I just got my allowance for the month so I went shopping. These are my congrats on your first outing/date ever. It's not for you to pay me back. Besides, I thought it would be best to change your wardrobe because I know you wouldn't even in the next century."
I chuckled."You know me. Thanks Pat." I hugged her.
"You know I've always wanted to have my very own beauty and makeover empire and you my friend are my first customer so giddy up." She slapped my butt and I yelped.

Steve's POV
I waited outside for Nadia hoping that my heart and nerves would stop sky rocketing before she comes. I was excited that I was finally going on a date with the woman I have had eyes for since the moment she stepped foot into Sunrise cafe. I couldn't take my eyes off the beauty that day. Although she wore clothes that would really hide it all, her beauty shone through. She had her eyes glued to her books the first day she came and I was just there desperately begging for her to look up towards my direction. Those warm eyes of hers could make a man run to hell just to get her to be with him. Stacy saw through me and advised me to go for it but I was too chicken to say whatever I had to say whenever I was with her. Last week, if we had been alone, I would have kissed her senseless but it took every ounce of control in me not to do it that moment.
When she came up to me that day, I was so thrilled I thought I would pee myself for joy. It made me prepare way too early for our date today. We close at 8pm but at 4pm I relieved myself from work, rushed home, showered and was ready by 5pm. I stayed in my room counting the minutes and was relieved when it was time. I kept hoping and praying I wouldn't mess up today.
Finally, the door opened and there she stood, a princess straight out of a man's dream. The violet gown she wore clung to every curve of her body and the end pooled at her legs. It had a slit that reached up to her thigh to show her long legs. It was a perfect choice that matched the warmth of her eyes. She had her curly hair done straight and it covered part of her upper back that was left bare by the outfit. The V-shaped neckline hung in a way anyone couldn't help but notice God put in a lot of effort on her chest. The necklace and earrings were exactly right. Her legs were adorned with silver heels.
On its own will, my eyes followed her every movement as she walked up to where I stood. I stood there staring and didn't know my mouth was open until she spoke up.
"You can shut it now and stop staring at me like a gold mine you just discovered. You're making me blush to my toes."
I gave myself a mental slap and shut it. "I'm.. I mean....It's just..." I shut it then tried again. "Wow. You look amazing."
"Well, it's all thanks to Patricia. She did all the work." she said smiling and looking down. I loved that about her. Her shyness at times like this is actually cute to me.
"I'll make sure to give her a kiss when I see her." I said sarcastically.
"And I will make sure to remind you. Hmmm. You really weren't joking about the suit thing. You look absolutely dashing. I think I'll have my hands full shooing them away." She laughed and I did too.
"Don't worry. You are not alone in that. We are two in a boat. I promise you I'll be more drained at the end from chasing the swarming flies around you."
"I doubt that."
"Trust me. Its true. I might end up Samson. Fighting off Lions too." we laughed. "But then again, I can't promise I'll be gentle chasing them away."
"Uuuu, I think they better watch out because this Samson's source of strength rests not in his hair."
We laughed then there was a few seconds of awkward silence before I remembered I had something for her. "Here." I handed her the rose I was holding behind my back.
"Awww...Thanks." She sniffed it. "I love it."
"I'm glad you do. Shall we?" I gestured to my truck which we moved to and I opened the passengers door for her, placing my palm atop the passenger's side opening so she doesn't get hurt in case her head hits the top of the door. Safe inside, I shut the door and went around to the driver's seat, started the engine and we zoomed off.
.....I really hope I don't mess this up...

"So, tell me. What's got your hands full these days?" I asked the moment the waiter left our table. We just finished giving our orders to the waiter.
I must say The Duncans really did a lot of work on its interiors. The polished marble floors sparkled, the tables neatly arranged, the glazed walls, the chandeliers were decorated with sparkly ornamentals. There was also a mini water fountain at the centre of the restaurant. Sunrise cafe had a thing or two to learn before they got to this height. A few ideas just popped into my head. I'll bring it up to my boss later on. See what he thinks about it and probably...
"Steve?" Nadia called me. I was totally lost in thought.
...Really? On our first date?....
"I'm sorry. What was that again?"
"Well I was saying nothing new has got my hands full. Just the usual. School, home, school, home. Same boring routine with a little tutorials thrown in between. I know, I know." She rushed in when I wanted to say something. "I know what you were going to say. 'you don't test the waves Nadia. You got to live a little'". She mimicked my words to her sometimes. "Well not every body was made to 'test the waves'. I have my hands full already. So much dreams."
"Which will be no more if you have a breakdown and the worst happens."
"Nobody's going to have a breakdown. At least not me. For your info I do other things. And before you ask me, football which you very much know about."
"That's your defense?" I chuckled. "Weak." She stuck out her tongue. I pinched her cheeks playfully. "So you come here often?"
"No. First time. You?"
"Actually, this is my first too. I must say I'm impressed. They really did a good job here. Just a few months of opening and look what they did to this place. I'm really wowed. I can also boast of getting a few ideas of my own to pitch in to my uncle."
"To be honest, I heard of it from my friends. Most of them come here on dates. They said they serve the best meal. No offense"
"None taken."
"I've always wanted to try it out. I'm a sucker for good food. Too bad I haven't had the time to.... Wait a minute. Did u say uncle?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You said you had a few ideas to pitch in to your uncle. It just struck me and I don't get. Do you have an uncle that owns a restaurant that I somehow don't know about?"
I laughed so hard I could feel my insides clench. "It just sank in?" I said when it died down. "Yes I do. My present boss is my uncle." To say she was surprised is an understatement. She literally had her eye balls popping out of her sockets.
"Really? How come I'm just knowing now?"
"I'm sorry for not telling you all this while. I didn't see the need to tell you and besides your nose was always stuck in your books everytime you came to Sunrise."
"Huh? So it's my fault?"
"No. That's not what I'm saying. I'm sorry okay." I paused when our orders arrived. The waiter placed our orders on the table and also asked if we needed a drink which I agreed to. He poured us wine before leaving. Ransacking my brain for what to say next, I asked what popped in first. "So...what are your future plans? That is after college if you don't mind me asking." I continued when the waiter left.
We continued talking and eating, and honestly, she's a talker. She went on and on about everything, asked me questions which I answered. She laughed at my jokes and I was really pleased. I really enjoyed myself and was quite sad when it was time for us to leave.
The waiter came with our bill when we were done with dessert. Surprisingly she reached out for my purse but I placed a hand on her arm stopping her.
"What are you doing?"
"I want to pay for the meal."
"Are you kidding me? I've got this."
"But Steve, I want to pay for the meal."
"D, I'm paying alright. Maybe you'll pay next time." I paused, "There will be a next time right?" Hope stirring widely in me
"You don't want to see me again?"
"Of course I do want to see you again. As it is I don't want our first date to end even."
"Then there will be a next time." She smiled so sweetly at me I couldn't help but reach out to run my thumb across her bottom lip. She took me by surprise when she actually brought out her tongue to lick the pad of my thumb. My heart skipped a beat and blood rushed to my penis. My pants became tight, too tight for me.
...Fuck it....
I dropped our bill on the table and reached for her hand. She placed her hand in mine and we made it out the door and straight to my car. I wanted to take her there in the car but I wanted our first to be special. I was normally not this careful when it came to women. Dates mostly ended up with a great fuck in my backseat.
There was something about Nadia that made me want to handle her with the most care in the world. I knew she felt this thing between us right now and probably wanted me as much as I wanted her but everything in me wanted to make this day memorable for her. So I drove her all the way home without even touching her finger and walked her to her door. Reaching her door, she turned to face me.
"I had a wonderful time today. Thanks so much." She said fondling with her purse.
"I did too. Wish we had more time." She smiled at me. "So it's a goodnight then." I said even though I didn't want to and cupped her cheeks in my hand.
.....Usher me in....
"I guess so." She said faintly. Her hot breath fanning on my hand. The simple action made me go hard again.
We stared at each other. I couldn't help but get lost in the depths of her eyes. I didn't know who moved first but next thing, mere inches separated us and I was leaning towards her. She rose on tiptoe to meet me halfway. Our lips almost met but at the last minute, I placed a kiss on her cheeks and forehead.
"Goodnight." I said abruptly without a second glance back as I left. I saw the hurt registered on her face but I didn't stop. I entered my truck and drove off. Why I did that, I'd never be able to say.
