Chapter 3 - The Power of a Transcendent Skill

Chapter 3: The Power of a Transcendent Skill

The sun was just beginning to rise over Windmere when Arin slung a simple cloth bag over his shoulder and stepped out of the orphanage gates.

No one stopped him. No one asked where he was going.

That was fine. That was expected.

He'd awakened his skill. He wasn't a child anymore. Orphaned boys who received non-combat or "useless" skills were expected to find work, scrape by, and not cause trouble.

But Arin didn't leave in shame — he left in silence, holding back the storm within him.

Because he knew the truth now. His skill wasn't useless. It was something this kingdom had never seen before.

After leaving the Hearthlight, He head directly towards the mountains. It was not that he was leaving the city but he cannot afford to live into the city or at least not for now. He knew he cannot afford a room in the any corner of city. This wasn't because the city was too expensive but it was because he lacked money. He has only 20 copper coins in his pocket, sufficient for his 3 to 4 days two times meal.

Arin found a secluded place on the outskirts of the city — a craggy hillside on the edge of Windmere's mountain wall. Overgrown with moss, scattered boulders, and a small natural cave overlooking the city below, it was the perfect hiding spot.

It wasn't much, but he didn't need comfort. He needed isolation.

"Now it's time to make this good for nothing place worthy of living, It's going to be my home for a long time until I have some gold and.... girls".

He put his bag aside and went to clean the place. It was just like adventure for him in this new world which he always imagined on Earth. After cleaning floor which you can call as after as before, he opened the bag and a lizard jump out of it and looked towards him respectfully which led him to thought himself like a king but reality crashed him to ground again and he found himself no more than a beggar.

"Go and look no beasts enter the cave" after saying that he sat on a stone and lizard went out to the entrance.

"Now its time to play some cards. hehehe..."

[Daily Draw Available: 5/5]Draw now?

He nodded.

Drawing cards…

One by one, five glowing cards formed in front of him.

1st Card – Skill Card

Skill Acquired: All-Eyes Appraisal (Legendary)

A powerful vision-type skill that allows the user to see the full details of any item, creature, or person—up to two ranks above their current rank.

A warm glow passed through his eyes. The world around him sharpened, as if a veil had been lifted.

He looked at a nearby rock.

"Common Stone. No magical properties."

Then at a passing bird.

"Sky Finch – Rank: E. Fragile bones. Weak to wind spells."

Incredible… Arin breathed. This isn't just appraisal. This is like seeing through the world itself.

2nd Card – Creature Card

Beast Acquired: Golden Mane Cub

Grade: Common (Evolvable)A rare lion cub infused with golden qi. Becomes stronger by devouring beasts and absorbing monster cores. Final form unknown.

A small golden-furred lion appeared beside him, eyes glowing faintly with intelligence. It yawned adorably, then curled up in Arin's lap without hesitation.

"A beast that grows by devouring stronger enemies…" Arin whispered, running his fingers through its mane. "You're just like me."

He named it: Raikhan — "Thunder King" in ancient Solarian tongue.

3rd Card – Artifact Card

Artifact Acquired: Cloak of Mirage Flame (Divine-Class)

A shifting cloth forged from godfire silk. Automatically hides the wearer's cultivation from all realms up to Divine Rank. Adapts appearance based on wearer's will.

The cloak materialized in his hands — soft, silky, and weightless. When he put it on, the dull gray cloth shimmered and became a dark, elegant robe trimmed with silver runes.

"Hide my cultivation". As these words left Arin's mouth, The flow of mana around him instantly vanished, even to his own senses.

Change to traveler's cloak. It turned brown, worn, and travel-ready in a heartbeat.

"Now this…" Arin grinned, "…is something no noble brat will ever touch."

4th Card – Weapon Card

Weapon Acquired: Lightning Vambrace (Divine-Class)

A sleek metallic band worn on the right hand. Channels lightning through the user's mana. Can unleash a Thunderstrike dealing devastating elemental damage. Cooldown: 3 minutes.

It snapped onto his wrist like it belonged there. As soon as he poured a thread of mana into it, arcs of electric-blue lightning sparked across the surface.

He extended his arm toward the sky.

Strike.

A crack of thunder echoed across the mountainside, blasting a distant tree into splinters.

Raikhan yelped and dove into his cloak.

"…Sorry."

5th Card – Mystery Card

Mystery Card Unveiled:

S-Class Skill Book – Swordmaster's Path (Advanced)

A rare manual containing deep insights into swordsmanship, footwork, and blade intent. Compatible with any weapon and grants passive mastery over time.

A thick, black-bound book appeared in his hand, its title carved in ancient script that shimmered with silver light.

He opened the first page.

"A sword is not a weapon. It is an extension of your will. Until your sword obeys your soul, you are unworthy of its edge."

After that the book vanished from his hands and a lot of information surged through his mind. Arin felt his heartbeat quicken as memories not his own flooded his mind — battle techniques, reflex training, instinctual dodging.

In just some minutes he felt his body changing to some extent and he had a vast understanding of sword. He was now in the path of sword and also his body was imposing a cruel blade intent which could cut anything. The whole cave was shaking made other creatures far from that place. Raikhan has already went out where Lizard was sitting with Laziness unaware of inside incidents. Both looked at each other but looking same powerful opponent neither of them attacked and Raikhan also sat far from Lizard.

Inside the cave, Arin took out his dagger and use it for some practice. It wasn't a sword but he was able to use it perfectly and also create blade intent through it. After some practice he put in the dagger again and use All-Eyes Appraisal on himself. Suddenly a transparent golden interference appeared before him.

Arin didn't speak. He simply stared, wide-eyed, as if the world had stopped spinning. After some time he went to his consciousness and ran towards the city market. He knew his skills and weapons were powerful but he didn't know how powerful they were. With the memories, he had only rough knowledge of the things. He has to confirm it. After going into the market he directly rush towards a shop which sells maps and scrolls and bought a scroll of 5 copper coins which has all detailed of rankings of skill, weapons, and individuals. He was not in hurry to see that so he put it inside his bag and start looking for food. He also needed a way to earn money but for now he has to return as there was already going to sunset. After buying some ingredient and a magic fire crystal for 12 copper coins he was back to cave.

"It is really difficult to store money in my hands for long time." he sneered and put all ingredients and some wooden sticks he collected at the path. After some arrangements he was able to set a bonfire in the cave. He put out the rabbit flesh bought from market in 5 copper coins, put it over the bone fire and roasted it while putting spices on it for flavor. Time passed and after 10 minutes a tasty smell of food spread in the cave. The two pets were looking like hungry animals in front of food or so they were. hehe.... Arin took the roasted flesh and give its two parts to the unwilling pets. After they were full, the animals went to the entrance oof the cave to guard and sleep while he sat on the stone and open the scroll. What he looked was amazed of that

"Fuck.. This is so imaginary. How can my cards be giving divine weapon and skill ? And why there is no detail about transcendent level skill ?

"Is this the power of a Transcendent skill?"

This really seems so imaginary. I have divine level skills and weapons which are the highest level known by kingdoms. So, it is also possible that there are not many divine level and legendary level skills and weapon. I have to control my mouth while speaking to anyone or if they know about it not only people but kingdoms also will rush towards me. My skill is really both course and blessings to me.
