Chapter 7 - Past and Lovegood house

Chapter 7

What in the name of the All-Father is this?!

What the hell, can she see my real form or what? I asked myself as I tilted my head at the sleepy blond girl to convey my confusion.

How the fuck does she know about the shards?! I asked myself once more.

She could be a higher-dimensional being or something like a god playing pretend as a kid. Hell, she could be a demon for all I knew.

"I think you're thinking something rude," she said, though the smile on her face didn't waver.

She looked at me or rather, it felt like she was looking through me, for some reason.

It was kinda scary, in my opinion. And how the hell did she know I was thinking something rude, anyway?

"Hello, Luna," Fred said, giving her a wave. Although she didn't look at him, she did respond,

"Hello, Fred," while her eyes remained fixed on me.

"You got it wrong again it's George," Fred said, while George added from my other side,

"Better luck next time."

"I see," she replied.

However, I felt like she knew they were lying—she just didn't point it out.

"This is Nihilo. He'll be living with us for a while," George introduced me.

"He can't speak, so don't mind if he doesn't answer."

While George was introducing me to Luna, the other 3 also reached us. Ginny gave Luna a wave, and as for Ron, he just rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath, Now there are two of them.

Luna was wearing a dress; she looked to be about four, the same age as Ginny. She had bright blue eyes and light blonde hair. She wore reddish radish-shaped earrings, and around her neck was a necklace made of corks strung together from some kind of bottle.

After the introduction, the twins brought out some brooms to play Quidditch. I just sat down under a tree, with Luna and Ginny, neither of whom were allowed to play. Ron was playing too, though from the looks of it, he was still new to the game.

As we sat there, Ginny watched her brothers with a look of jealousy. It seemed like she might cry, but she held it in. She must've tried the crying trick before, and it hadn't worked.

To distract herself, Ginny and Luna started talking. I didn't really have a place in their conversation. Mostly, Ginny told Luna stories about her house and her brothers, and Luna chimed in from time to time, talking about her parents.

While I wanted to ask her what she had seen, Ginny was still there, so I kept it to myself. Still, I was bored. So to pass the time, I started drawing in my notepad with the quill. It was quite hard to draw with a quill, but I somehow managed. Before I knew it, both Luna and Ginny were watching over my shoulders.

I had drawn a picture of our cohort, all together. It wasn't very detailed, I still had to finish my own face. Or rather, the mask I used to wear to cover it. That mask came from a memory I had crafted myself. It was something I created while I was still in my first-ever nightmare or dream realm, depending on how you look at it.

When I first entered that world, I had killed a tribe of ten thousand people by commanding them to burn themselves in a ravine, where a tyrant had been hiding. As I watched, I carved a mask from the wood that was common in that region. That mask had somehow absorbed the screams of all those people, it recorded them. I could use it to speak, but the voice that came out would be a haunting blend of those ten thousand voices mixed into one.

It was horrifying to listen to but I liked it.

It was something I had created by imbuing it with my soul energy, which gave it a golden, glowing finish, and even some runes that I'm still trying to decipher to this day. As I was drawing it, I found myself missing those days, the entertainment of watching Sunny and Neph. Ah, they were the best kind of entertainment after killing monsters and making other people squirm.

I had forgotten about emotions while I was in the Void. But when I joined that world, I somehow gained them back. It was quite a journey.

As I was drawing it, I remembered how the cohort had split apart after we all became Saints how Effie had given birth inside a nightmare. That was something worthy of being put in the history books, in my opinion. I do miss Neph and Sunny. They were such an awkward duo. I hope they somehow come together again… though I don't think it's possible now that Sunny has become fateless.

Last I knew, Sunny had disappeared after realizing no one remembered him. Although I did remember him, I never saw him again after we got out of the nightmare. I hope that cockroach is doing okay.

I smiled a little as I thought about all this. I missed them.

While I was drawing my weapon and adding in the details, like the pile of monster corpses, which were way too realistic, Luna finally chimed in.

"You have quite a lot of Wrackspurts around your head," she said confidently.

"My mum told me they float around your head and sneak in through your ears and go to your brain. They make your brain go fuzzy and sad."

She explained that before I could even ask what the fuck a Wrackspurt was.

"Who are they?" she asked after she had finished explaining, and I hadn't written any answers.

{Friends} I wrote on a separate page and tore it out while I kept working on my drawing.

"Do you miss them?" she asked.

{A little} I answered.

Luna kept staring at the page I was drawing on with an unnerving focus. As for Ginny, she had gone pale when she saw the pile of different monsters I had drawn. I couldn't really blame the child, she was still only four years old.

What did surprise me was Luna. She looked at the different monsters like she was studying their anatomy… or maybe it was the blood of the fallen creatures that clung to everyone in the drawing, or the one pooling on the floor.

I didn't really know. But it fascinated me. A child no older than four, looking at it all so calmly.

She had that air about her, the kind that made people want to protect this cute and innocent creature at all costs.

I think she had some sort of unique eyes. I didn't know—and to be honest, it didn't really matter. However, it was something quite intriguing. Perhaps her eyes were so unique that even as an Eldritch being, I couldn't see what she was seeing.

After I was done drawing, I closed the notepad and slid the quill into the rings holding the pages together. Although it was a good hobby I'd picked up while I was in that world, this wasn't really the time to draw.

"Luna, dear, can you come home for a second?" A woman's voice reached us, followed by a paper airplane that flew in and landed on Luna's lap.

Luna stood up and offered me her hand. I took it as she pulled me up. "Come with me, I'll introduce you to my mum," she said.

I didn't question her further and followed. As Ginny was about to get up, Luna stopped her and said,

"It's alright. I know you're not that comfortable with him around. We'll be back in a while."

"Let's go," Luna said as she glanced at me. "She's not that comfortable with you there, she's just shy to say it."

Her situational awareness was remarkably high for her age.

{Author's note: It took me 5 minutes to write the line above because I forgot the word awareness three times. As soon as I remembered the word and started writing it, I'd forget it again. Fuck ADHD.}

It was all quite surprising, in my opinion. A child so mature at her age wasn't something you saw every day. These kinds of children only appeared when they had either suffered the harshness of the world… or had a really high IQ. And I think Luna was the latter.

It was surprising, in my opinion. As she led me, we soon found ourselves in front of what I assumed was her house, though I wasn't really sure. It looked like a tower with three floors, each with windows. Magical plants were planted around the base, and various drawings of creatures decorated the walls of the tower.

It was leaning slightly to one side, though who was I to judge someone's house when I myself had lived in a void where time was meaningless, and reality ceased to exist.

{Author's note: i think there is a lot that can be done to improve Luna's character, if you have any suggestions then plz help yourself to the comment section}
