Chapter 20 - CHAPTER TWENTY: Ashes of Loyalty

The Òrìṣà Festival burns. What began as music, drums, and laughter has erupted into screaming chaos.

Ojora soldiers pour into Akinwumi Village, torching homes, slashing innocents, and cleaving through the crowd.

Adedayo stands tall at the center of the massacre—cold, calculating. His blade is already soaked.

🔥 Battle POV: Yemi and Chief Alade

Yemi storms into the fray, eyes aflame.

> "Ẹ̀yin ọmọ ilẹ̀ wa! To arms! Defend the sacred ground!"

He rallies the rebel legion, blades drawn. The warriors of Akinwumi rise, shoulder to shoulder with farmers, hunters, and elders.

Through the smoke, Chief Alade locks eyes with King Adekunle Ojora.

> Adekunle (mocking): "Still alive, old man? I thought I buried you with your wife." Alade (growling): "And I thought I buried your soul when you betrayed the clans."

Their duel explodes—a brutal, heavy sword fight. Every clash of steel echoes with decades of betrayal.

💔 Moremi and Wale: A Sibling's Farewell

In a quiet corner of the chaos, Moremi cradles Wale, blood pouring from his wound. He struggles to speak.

> Wale (weak): "I promised I'd protect you… like I did then... remember the mango tree… the fire…"

⚡ Flashback:

Children screaming. A village on fire. A young Wale shields a younger Moremi beneath a mango tree, whispering:

> "Don't cry. I'll come back. Survive for me."

Back in the present:

> Wale (whispering): "You did survive… now live. For both of us."

His eyes close. His hand falls.

Moremi lets out a soul-rending scream that halts even the soldiers. Rage replaces grief in her eyes.

⚔️ Battle POV: Adeola, Bayo, Ayomide, and Femi

Adeola and Bayo crash into the attackers. Bayo's fury is unleashed—he cuts through men like wind through dry leaves.

Ayomide covers Femi, who's frozen in shock. The boy watches men fall, swords clash, blood spill—and can't move.

> Ayomide (to Femi): "Snap out of it! Move!"

Suddenly—a blade pierces Ayomide's chest from behind.

> Ayomide gasps, eyes wide. Blood trickles from his lips. he turns to Femi: "Don't let this... be for nothing."

he collapses.

Femi screams.

He finally moves—but it's too late. Her body hits the earth.

🩸 The Death of Chief Alade

Alade's sword shatters. Adekunle stabs him clean through.

> Alade (whispers): "The flame... never dies."

He falls.

Yemi, seeing it, lets out a roar of pain and fury.

The ground beneath him becomes sacred with blood.

🧿 Final Scenes

The village is burning. Sacred symbols desecrated. Warriors fall.

Bankode watches from afar with quiet satisfaction.

Adedayo stands untouched.

Moremi's face is streaked with blood—but her eyes are cold now. Something inside her has changed.
