When the puppy send William and Sam away.
William suddenly got caught by a purple portal made of square.
When he got kicked out of it he found himself at a small house in a middle of nowhere.
Opening the door two elderly couples sat at a table.
And a third man in his twenties, who was washing the dishes.
The old woman smiled gently. "It's good to see you growing up so well, William."
She was none other than William's adoptive mother.
"I agree," continued the old man. "Though it looks like you passed away so young."
William smiling at them "What are you talking about, Grandpa Mike? Granny Ma? I've lived a long life, so don't worry."
Granny Ma's eyes lit up with excitement. "Then tell us! Did you marry? Have kids?"
Grandpa Mike only smiled hearing William live long.
William turned back to them with a warm expression. 'I can't tell them the truth. But I don't want to lie either. They were the ones who saved me… so, just this once.'
He exhaled slowly. "Yes. I had a wife. But… she passed away early. So I adopted a child. Just like how you adopted me."
The moment he said that, both parents rose from their seats and wrapped him in a tight embrace.
"It's good you didn't become a bad person," Granny Ma's tears running, with a shaking voice. "I always worried you might… after we were gone."
William hugged them back. "Don't worry. I never will."
The third man who was washing dishes laughed ruining the mood.
"Mike, Ma why not tell him the truth?" William tried to see his face but his face was angled to not let anyone see his face.
The third man slowly placed a mask in his face.
As the man turned to face William, his adoptive parents were shacking with fear.
"William why not greet your real adoptive parents?" A white mask with crooked smile and two eye holes.
"Don't listen to him William we are your adoptive parents!" Grandpa Mike shouted.
Grandma Ma also nodded holding William tighter.
The masked man only applauded their acting skills.
With a snap of a finger of the masked man.
When William looked down, all he saw were skeletons.
The house around them was no less than a ruined shack.
Outside the window was barren bedrock.
William's eyes narrowed. "What did you do?"
"Relax." as the masked guy snapped again everything returned normal.
"William do you think just an old couple would adopt a child and act nice when the child broke in the house, eat their food?"
Grandma Ma retaliated "of course we would why wouldn't we?"
The masked man only shook his head. With a small amount of blood a big screen showed up.
It was the few hours earlier before William broke into their house.
"A child will enter your house, your job is to adopt him for me! If gets even a slightest scratch I will hell for you two got it!"
And it continued as William remembered.
Soon the screen ended when William got adopted.
The masked man's eyes were starring daggers at Mike.
"You dared to bring a gun?" Mike's soul almost left.
But before the masked guy could do anything William stepped forward.
"So your the real person I am alive?"
The masked man just nodded.
So William continued "but still these two raised me all the time so I ask of you don't hurt them."
Seeing William like that the masked guy only sighted before snapping his fingers again.
Both of them 20 kilometers away from the house.
Then he inserted his hand into William grabbed William's heart.
"Don't move, or this will start to hurt."
William gritted his teeth and forced his body to relax, though he could feel his heartbeat accelerating with each pulse from the man's hand.
It didn't hurt yet.
But the longer it went on, the more blood began to pour from William's mouth.
When he was just on the brink of blacking out, the man withdrew his hand.
Symbols pulsed in William's mind. His head rang.
The masked man placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Welcome, Apostle of Light."
Minutes passed before William's vision steadied and he found his breath.
"I suppose I should introduce myself," the man said. "I'm a Wenny guy."
William grabbed his head, groaning. It was evident his mind hasn't fully recovered.
Wenny tilted his head "I gave you one of my powers, the ability to change genres."
William nodded quickly. A lifetime of reading books, manga, and web novels finally paid off.
He instantly chose the one with the best potential.
[From weak to strong]
Wenny's smile though hidden by the mask.
"your mother wanted to meet you."
He snapped his fingers. A portal opened.
Wenny quickly put on sun glasses as a sudden burst of light poured through blinding William.
From the portal, a soft white hand reached out.
The Wenny guy immediately stepped forward, gently taking it to help the figure emerge safely.
"Long time no see, Wenny." Her voice was calm, warm, like a voice of an angel.
A flowing dress followed her through the portal, pink with intricate blossom patterns woven into the fabric.
William had only ever seen on TV back when he lived on Earth.
Then came her hair black as the void, cascading past her shoulders like flowing ink, catching the light in waves.
She stepped out fully. There was no hesitation in her way of walking.
The dress swayed gently around her, the blossoms seeming almost alive.
Her black eyes shifted from Wenny to William. Her expression softened.
"Hello, William," her voice wrapping around his name like silk.
