Chapter 2 - The Golden Legend—Enkidu!

Chapter 2: The Golden Legend—Enkidu!

After taking quite some time to calm down and process everything, Akira finally managed to collect himself.

He stared at the one and only cheat lottery ticket from his beginner package—the last sliver of hope in his new life. Whether he'd rise like a dragon or crawl like a worm all depended on his luck now. Europe-tier or Africa-tier draw? Only fate could tell.

"Sanqing Daozu! Tathagata Buddha! Lord Jesus! Holy Mother Mary! Please, bless me!!"

He prayed to every divine entity he could think of. After all, lotteries like this were purely luck-based.

Of course, if any of those holy figures actually heard him, they'd probably spit on him. Who in the world prays to all religions at once—from completely different faiths and dimensions no less!?

Just as Akira's eyes sparkled with hope, the system draw finally began.

[Ding!]

The familiar chime rang out, and Akira snapped his eyes to the screen—his expression lit up like a kid on Christmas morning.

[Golden Legend!]

[Ding!]

[Congratulations, Host! You have obtained the Template: Enkidu!]

A glowing panel instantly materialized before him. The figure displayed on the screen had long green hair and wore flowing white robes—a beautiful and mysterious presence, so androgynous it was hard to tell whether they were male or female.

[Enkidu: A puppet created by the gods. A living Noble Phantasm born with its own will. The divine chain that connects heaven and earth]

Akira couldn't hold back his inner shout of joy.

Jackpot! Holy crap, this is insane!

Enkidu!

A Golden Legend on the very first pull!

In the Fate universe, Enkidu was the one and only true companion of the King of Heroes, Gilgamesh. A divine weapon created by the gods themselves, best known as the Chain of Heaven!

And Enkidu's power wasn't just about those heavenly chains. Back in the Mesopotamian era, in the kingdom of Uruk, he was known as the King of Beasts, and together with Gilgamesh, they were hailed as the Two Kings.

A divine construct created specifically to bring Gilgamesh back to the side of the gods—Enkidu's strength was on par with the King of Heroes himself.

While Akira was still basking in excitement, a strange energy suddenly surged into his body, fusing with every fiber of his being.

In an instant, his body began to change. His originally handsome features transformed into something even more striking—beautiful and ethereal, almost enough to be mistaken for a girl, though there was still a unique masculinity to it.

His short black hair grew longer, reaching his shoulders, and shifted into a vivid emerald green.

And that wasn't all. Within his body, something called "mana" awakened and began flowing rapidly through his entire system.

No one knew how long the transformation lasted, but eventually, Akira slowly opened his eyes.

The black in his pupils had turned into a radiant green.

(Note: Enkidu in the Fate series has green eyes; the Kingu version in FGO: Final Singularity has violet eyes.)

Feeling his new body after the evolution, Akira couldn't help but be amazed. This was the sensation of ascending to a higher form of life. The constant, gentle flow of mana coursing through him… it was intoxicating.

——— Level Tier System ———

Tier 9 = Dragon God

Tier 8 = Transcendent Being

Tier 7 = Maou (Demon King)

Tier 6 = Ultimate-Class Devil

Tier 5 = High-Class Devil

Tier 4 = Mid-Class Devil

Tier 3 = Low-Class Devil

Tier 2 = Newborn Devil

Tier 1 = Fledgling Devil

— — —

From nothing to Tier 3 in one jump—a leap big enough to match a typical low-class devil.

Sounds impressive, right? But honestly... that's barely the survival line.

Even before the story hits its midpoint, High-Class Devils and overpowered Fallen Angels are already roaming around. By the time things reach the late game, Maou-level beings and Transcendents start showing up one after another.

The only reason the original protagonist survived and rose in such a batshit crazy world was thanks to an overpowered official DxD system cheat.

Take the Boosted Gear for example—a Sacred Gear that could double its user's power every 10 seconds. In theory, given enough time, the user could even kill gods.

That kind of cheat let him keep punching above his level and survive long enough to get stronger.

But Akira wasn't entirely hopeless either.

He had a system too—a unique cheat of his own.

And even with just 10% of Enkidu's power, he had already reached Tier 3. If he could ever reach 100%, he might even break into the Transcendent class. After all, this was the divine weapon forged to restrain Gilgamesh himself—the Chain of Heaven!

Could he reach Dragon God level someday…? Akira wasn't sure.

In the Type-Moon universe, Enkidu wasn't necessarily top-tier. But still, one thing he was sure of—

His future was bright.

He had a system. He had a cheat.

If he still ended up a loser after all this, he might as well not exist.

The only problem now was—he had no clue how to level up the Inheritance Template.

The system was called the Template Inheritance System, not a Role System. So he probably didn't need to "act like" or "imitate" Enkidu to grow stronger.

Even though the system hadn't explained it yet, Akira was confident he'd figure it out soon enough.

With the power of a Tier 3 Devil, at the very least, he could protect himself in Kuoh City—as long as he didn't run into any crazies.

After wrapping his head around everything, Akira let out a long breath of relief. In this unfamiliar world…

The old saying rang true—"Fear comes from a lack of firepower."

Now that he had some firepower, he could afford to relax just a little.

"Grrr~"

Suddenly, a low growl came from his stomach.

Akira's face twitched. Right—he still had one massive issue.

Money.

Without it, he wouldn't survive for long.

Looking around the tiny 1DK apartment, there were only a few things here: a mattress with a pillow and blanket, a small TV, a basic fridge, and a wardrobe. That's it.

And the fridge?

Totally empty. Not even a half-eaten snack.

Yep. Even after hitting the jackpot with a Golden Legend pull and gaining an absurdly powerful template, Akira now had to face reality:

He was broke.

And starving.
