Chapter 28 Looks Are Justice

Upon hearing her words, Lin Haoran chuckled lightly and responded, "So by your logic, I need to buy you a new pair of shoes to atone for my crime? Tell me, what kind would you like?" He marveled inwardly, surprised that his first encounter with a future famous actress in this world would be with such a lively, charming, and beautiful Guan Jia Hui.

Guan Jia Hui curled her lips into a sly smile and said playfully, "Since you're being so sincere, then buy me a pair of Roger Vivier shoes. But I didn't say they had to replace this pair I'm wearing now." She deliberately left it ambiguous, and in her mischievous eyes sparkled a genuine longing for brand-name shoes, though it couldn't hide her innocent nature.

Seeing this, Lin Haoran found her not only beautiful but also possessing a unique and interesting character.

"Of course, that's no problem. Just a pair of Roger Vivier shoes; I'll buy them for you," Lin Haoran said easily, his eyes full of confidence.

"Hey, you're not just saying that, are you? Roger Vivier shoes aren't cheap," Guan Jia Hui said half-doubtfully. Originally, she had just been joking.

"Do you know who my dad is? Look, that silver-haired gentleman over there is my father, Chairman of Wanan Group. You must have heard of him," Lin Haoran said, pointing casually with an even brighter smile.

"So you're the young master of the Lin family! No wonder you carry yourself so well. Are you... really planning to buy me a pair of Roger Vivier shoes?" Guan Jia Hui asked, her tone tinged with a bit of disbelief but her eyes gleaming with hope.

She knew that in formal occasions like this, no one would dare to joke lightly about status and wealth. Her family, while not among the super-rich, enjoyed a comfortable life. Her father, Guan Shan, was a well-known actor in Hong Kong, providing them with a stable income and decent social standing.

Having accompanied her father to various social gatherings from a young age, Guan Jia Hui had accumulated rich experience and deep familiarity with luxury brands. At her tender age, like many girls, she cherished dreams of beautiful things and had an inherent desire for high-end brands like Roger Vivier.

"I, Lin Haoran, always keep my word. Roger Vivier shoes, costing just a few thousand Hong Kong dollars, are nothing to me," Lin Haoran said casually, exuding the effortless charm and confidence typical of a rich young master, as if the world were his playground.

"Then... how should I contact you later?" Guan Jia Hui asked, sneaking a glance around to ensure no one was paying attention before lowering her voice shyly.

Lin Haoran smiled and handed her a business card with his pager number. "Here's my contact information. Page me anytime. As soon as I see it, I'll get back to you."

Looking at Guan Jia Hui, Lin Haoran felt delighted inside.

She had yet to step into the chaotic entertainment world, and her youthful innocence and beauty made him want to cherish her.

Since he had crossed into this era and encountered Guan Jia Hui at her prime, how could he let the opportunity slip away?

For Lin Haoran, given his current status, charm, and confidence, winning her favor wouldn't be difficult.

At seventeen, she was still tender and fresh—she could be described as crisp and vibrant, like a young green apple.

Guan Jia Hui took the business card, her eyes flashing with a mixture of excitement and shyness. She quickly tucked it into her pocket, afraid anyone would notice. Afterward, she let out a soft sigh of relief, smiling with reassurance.

Lin Haoran's outstanding appearance had clearly left a deep first impression on her—this must be what people meant by "looks are justice."

At the peak of adolescence, her heart had naturally begun yearning for beautiful emotions, and Lin Haoran's outstanding looks and background had immediately struck a chord in her tender heart.

Moreover, it wasn't just his looks. Knowing that he came from a prestigious family added even more attraction in her eyes.

She couldn't help but fantasize about all the possibilities that could unfold between them, hoping they might develop a closer relationship.

Of course, Guan Jia Hui realized her feelings might seem a bit naive and impulsive, but she couldn't resist the pull she felt toward him.

She decided to be brave and take the first step toward getting closer to the young man who had captivated her heart.

The two of them sat there chatting while snacking on sunflower seeds.

As they talked, Lin Haoran learned that Guan Jia Hui's father, Guan Shan, was actually one of the few recognizable Hong Kong actors participating in this movie project.

Following the direction she pointed, Lin Haoran identified her father among the group chatting with Lin Wanan and others—completely unaware that his daughter was happily conversing with a charming young man nearby.

Soon, the banquet was about to begin.

Feeling a bit anxious that her father might notice her getting too close to a stranger, Guan Jia Hui hurriedly took her leave.

"I'll contact you soon. Keep your pager on!" she said, full of excitement and anticipation.

"I will. You can count on it," Lin Haoran replied with a warm smile, knowing he had left a lasting impression in her heart.

After Guan Jia Hui returned to her father's side, Lin Haoran naturally returned to Lin Wanan's side as well.

To Lin Haoran, this so-called celebration banquet felt more like a carefully orchestrated business gathering.

Among the actors present, only a few like Guan Shan could genuinely attract attention—the rest seemed merely ornamental, gathering for the sake of appearances.

At the banquet, many of Lin Wanan's business friends toasted him one after another.

However, Lin Haoran tactfully blocked each drink offered to his father, citing concerns for his health.

He spoke with sincerity and firmness, expressing care without breaking etiquette, skillfully maintaining the harmonious atmosphere of the gathering.

Everyone present, knowing well the Lin family's status and influence, dared not show any displeasure, and no one dared to accuse them of disrespect for refusing drinks.

On the way home, Lin Wanan, full of fatherly pride, praised, "Haoran, you've really matured. If it had been the past, you might have struggled to handle such an occasion so smoothly."

"Dad, it's all thanks to your careful guidance," Lin Haoran replied with a respectful smile.

The Rolls-Royce glided steadily through the night. The car was warm and cozy, and time quietly slipped past until it was 9:30 PM when they finally arrived back at the Lin family villa.
