Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Pacificus

No one expected it.

Not the governments. Not the people. Not even the conspiracy theorists shouting into webcams on the internet.

But after countless centuries of war, the humans finally had enough. Tired of battles, famine, and endless loss, the leaders of every nation—and their people—came together for the first time in history.

Together, they signed a single, world-changing agreement: a Friendship Treaty.

Its goal was simple—to improve the quality of human life without war, fear, or hate.

Armies were disbanded. Tanks were scrapped. Missiles melted down. The wars that had dragged on for decades ended overnight. The money once poured into weapons now rebuilt cities, funded hospitals, and opened new schools.

Of course, not everyone supported it.

There were those who refused to cooperate—the Resistors.

They believed peace was weakness. That accepting such a treaty was a shameful surrender of one's country. Pride blinded them.

They fought.

They protested.

They resisted.

But against a united world, they didn't last long. They were quickly suppressed.

And so, even though the world was not free from every problem—poverty, corruption, and inequality still existed—there were no longer unnecessary bloodsheds from wars and military conflict.

For the first time, humanity experienced global peace.

To celebrate this new era, the nations agreed to build something symbolic. A city that belonged to no one—a truly international city—the city of Pacifica. Constructed on a massive artificial island in the Pacific, it was twice the size of modern-day New York and was big enough to be a country itself.

People from every part of the world came to live there. Despite cultural clashes and language barriers, they slowly learned to understand one another.

And from that spirit of cooperation came something even greater:

The Pacifica International Academy

A new kind of international school—built not for the rich, not for the privileged, but for everyone. Every year, every country sent three students per high school grade level. Some selected students randomly; others chose their brightest or most unique individuals.

To unify communication, English was chosen as the primary language. Still, accents and cultures made every conversation a challenge—and an opportunity.

Each student received a free apartment, a new uniform, and basic supplies. Food and allowance were left to their families or home countries to provide.

But this was no ordinary school.

It wasn't just about academics. Students were ranked based on all aspects of life: physical ability, social interaction, emotional stability, personal growth, and even romantic and behavioral dynamics.

At first, it worked.

But then the so-called ranking system changed everything.

Students began competing not just for grades, but for status. Factions were formed. Rivalries grew. The top-ranked became powerful—and the system fed that power.

Over time, graduates of the academy became leaders, influencers, even celebrities. But the grudges, rivalries, and scars they carried from their school days never disappeared.

Now, the world watches nervously. Because those same individuals—the top ranks of that academy—now hold the reins of society. And the lingering hatred between them threatens to undo the peace that humanity fought so hard to build.

The Pacifica International Academy, once a symbol of unity, may become the spark that reignites conflict.

And in the middle of it all…

A new generation of students is about to step into the halls of that academy.

How will they face the buried tensions of the past?

Can they protect the fragile peace?

Or will history repeat itself?
