Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: what do you mean you ate 2 years worth of food

After the Sangvis scouting party was dealt with, Vertin contacted Gentiane, reporting their successful operation and requesting an immediate pickup. Gentiane readily agreed, dispatching a helicopter to their location.

"Alright, let's head to the designated location," Vertin announced to her team.

"Understood!" they said

As they walked, Vertin turned to Dopp.

"Dopp, did you see anything in the air earlier?" she asked.

"Well, I did see something far away," Dopp replied.

Vertin grew cautious. "Do you think it's still here?" she pressed.

"Maybe," dopp said

Vertin murmured, while discreetly prompting her AI. "(Can you give me the location of the thing that was following us?)"

A synthesized voice replied, [Approximately 40 kilometers away from your current position.]

"(Can you identify what it is?)" she further inquired.

[It is a drone from G&K.]

"(So, they're spying on us, huh?) "Vertin mused." (Well, I don't blame them. They probably saw our performance.) "

"Ahh, Commander, are you okay?" Dopp's voice pulled Vertin from her thoughts.

"Oh! Ah, yes, sorry, I was just thinking about something," she quickly said.

"If you say so," Dopp replied, her brow furrowed with concern.

They continued their trek, soon reaching the designated pickup point. It wasn't long before the familiar whir of rotor blades filled the air, and the helicopter descended, ready to whisk them away.

"So, girls, how was your first mission experience?" Vertin asked, looking at her teammates.

"It was a lot of fun! I blew up a ton of things!" Dopp chirped, a wide smile on her face.

"It was fine, I guess," Magella said, ever stoic.

"I cut a bunch of those disintegrators with my saber," Dom declared, puffing out her chest, proud to show off her swordsmanship.

"I hope you guys enjoyed it," Vertin said, a genuine warmth in her voice, pleased with her team's performance.

Meanwhile, the pilot, overhearing their conversation, had his own thoughts. Great, we've got crazy T-Dolls on board, he mused, a bead of sweat forming on his brow.

Upon their arrival at base, they were greeted by Gentiane. After a brief debriefing, the team headed to their assigned rooms.

"Finally! Back to our rooms!" Dom exclaimed eagerly.

"Calm down, Dom!" Dopp urged, telling her to lower her voice.

"Eh! Sorry, sorry," Dom said, sheepishly.

"It's okay," Vertin said, chuckling at Dom's immediate apology.

Reaching her own room, Vertin eagerly flung open the door and practically dove onto her bed. "Ahh! So comfy!" she sighed, almost drifting off to sleep.

"Commander, the girls and I are heading to the cafeteria. If you want to eat, you can join us," Dopp called from the hallway.

Hearing the mention of food, Vertin's stomach gave a rumble. She decided to join them.

"I wonder what food will be served," Dom mused aloud.

"We'll see, won't we?" Vertin replied, her own hunger growing. I haven't eaten for two days, and I want a four-course meal! she thought, practically salivating at the idea of devouring everything in sight.

(Ah, Commander's face looks like someone's going to eat the whole cafeteria,) Dopp thought to herself, a hint of amusement in her mind.

"also magella what with the German language i hear on the operation?" vertin said asking for a reason

"it's a secret commander" she said

"ok then i would push if you don't want" vertin said before seeing the cafeteria doors

Once they reached the cafeteria, ordered their food, and found a table, Vertin began her culinary conquest. First, seconds, then thirds, all the way to fifths.

"Look at her go!" Dom exclaimed, wide-eyed.

"If she keeps this up, she might just clear out the entire food supply," Dopp said, equally impressed by Vertin's insatiable appetite.

Magella, meanwhile, remained quiet, calmly eating her own meal. Suddenly, the cafeteria doors burst open, and Gentiane stormed in, eyes widening at the sight of Vertin still ordering more food, her plate already piled high.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Gentiane bellowed, "You're eating up the whole food supply!"

"Nom, nom, nom. What's wrong, Commander? Are we not allowed to eat from the canteen?" Vertin mumbled, her mouth full.

"You're not, but... you're eating a two-year food supply!" Gentiane retorted, exasperated.

"So... I'm banned from the canteen?" Vertin asked, continuing to devour the food on her plate.

"Sigh. Finish your food and come to my office," Gentiane said, sighing in utter disbelief that a T-Doll could consume so much.

"Sure. Nom, nom, nom," Vertin agreed, still chewing.

"It's like she just breathes in the food, and it's just gone like that," Dom whispered in awe.

(Logistics will have a field day with her,) Gentiane thought, though that wouldn't be her direct problem.

The real issue was that she, Kalina, and the human pilots now had to share their limited food supply with a T-Doll who could single-handedly clear out a restaurant.

"Well, time to call HQ and request a ten-year supply of food," Gentiane muttered to Kalina.

"*Sigh*. I'm on it," Kalina replied, already dreading the conversation.

After the entire incident, Vertin found herself being scolded by Gentiane and the entire logistics team. Everyone had questions about how on earth a T-Doll managed to eat two whole years' worth of food.

"You ate two whole years' worth of food, which is... how?" a logistics officer stammered, utterly baffled.

"Well, I am a hungry T-Doll," Vertin said nervously.

"Sigh. As much as I dislike disrupting routines, you will only have three meals a week from now on. If we let you eat whenever you want, animals will go extinct from how you eat. It's like you just breathe, and the food is gone! You're breaking the laws of physics, and I don't even want to know how," the officer said, completely flabbergasted by Vertin's seemingly impossible feat of consumption.

To Vertin's dismay, but to the immense relief of Gentiane and the logistics department, Vertin was thereafter restricted to three meals a week.

"Do you wonder where she even learned that from?" Dopp asked Dom about their commander's unique ability to seemingly inhale food.

"I don't know, but it's funny," Dom said, laughing.

Suddenly, a firm hand touched Dom's shoulder.

"I found your lack of sadness for your commander... disturbing," Vertin said from behind Dom, her voice low.

"Help me," Dom whispered quietly.

"Oh, look at the time! I almost forgot, Magella and I have something to do!" Dopp exclaimed, swiftly running away.

"Haha, I am in danger," Dom said, looking back over her shoulder.

"Do you want the hard way, or my way?" Vertin asked, a closed-eye smile gracing her lips.

"Ah... well, look at the time, I've got to walk the fish," Dom stammered, trying to turn around, but another hand fell on her other shoulder.

"So, you're picking my way," Vertin said.

"Oh fu—"

When Dom was found, she was in a trash can.
