Rem stood outside the hotel, eyes narrowing at every glass window. He'd been here before. This was a four-star luxury hotel — and at night, its golden lights usually lit up the whole street. But now, it was pitch dark. Not a single flicker from inside. Even the neighboring buildings felt unnervingly silent.
"Senpai…" Himeno's voice trembled as she spoke, trying to keep calm while her shaky legs betrayed her. "I never asked… what Devil did you make a contract with?"
Rem pressed a finger to her lips. "Shh."
He crept toward the door and pushed it open just enough to slip inside. A chilling wind greeted him, thick with the stench of gore. It was obvious more than a couple people had died here — far more, despite how casually Kishibe made it sound.
Pulling out a flashlight, Rem carefully moved through the dark, the beam cutting through the heavy dark. He reached the receptionist desk and leaned over, half-expecting someone to be hiding.
Empty.
He scratched his chin, frowning.
Then — a faint tap on his shoulder.
He looked over. And blood was dropping on his shoulder from above he looked up and sighed.
A cluster of corpses hung from the ceiling, nailed in place like grotesque decorations, their faces twisted in frozen agony.
He turned toward Himeno, who was scanning the room nervously.
"Psst," Rem called quietly.
Himeno looked over. He pointed up.
Her gaze followed his finger — and the moment she saw it, her legs buckled beneath her and she collapsed onto her backside, a sharp gasp escaping her lips.
Rem smirked at the terrified look on Himeno's face but quickly masked it.
"dumbass" he muttered, calling out to her. "You're just making the devil stronger by acting like this. Get a grip."
"I'm going to go upstairs when you calm down meet me there " rem said as he walked toward the stairs
"No No wait"she tried to stand up but fell again , rem ignored her as he kept walking
__________
'Holy shit.' Rem stared down the corridor — bodies lined the walls, blood smeared along the floor. Okay… maybe dumbass was right.i Shouldn't have stopped so many times for cheesecake.
Yup. I'm definitely getting questioned for this later.
Sighing, he moved toward one of the doors at the end of the hallway.
CRUNCH. CRUNCH.
The unmistakable sound of bones being chewed drifted through the air.
A devil… definitely here.
Rem kicked the door open only to see a man sitting in a pile of gore eating a hands with tears flowing down his eyes
The room was I shambles tables broken furniture too the wall had the word ' Art ' smeared with blood at the wall
' Why's a human eating a corpse ' rem squinted his eyes at him in yes that's defenantly a human and he's eating a kid's hand while crying
Devils never cry...especially while eating
"Hey, man!" Rem called out. The man flinched, turning toward him. "Don't eat those."
Behind Rem, the door creaked open.
Something stepped out — tall, thin, wearing a filthy black-and-white clown suit. Its face was pure white, with dark hollow eyes and a wide, twisted grin stretched from ear to ear. Black makeup circled its eyes and lips, the grin showing sharp, yellow teeth.
It moved silently, one hand holding a bloodstained scalpel, creeping closer to Rem, never blinking, never breaking that twisted grin.
Then...
________
Himeno finally pushed herself to her feet, gasping for air. She staggered toward the stairs, using the railing for support.
"Senpai?" she called out, her breath shaky as she forced herself to move. Each step forward made the stench worse, an unbearable mix of blood, rot, and something sour. Grimacing, she yanked a handkerchief from her pocket and covered her nose.
Then she saw it.
The gore was everywhere — blood soaked the floor, bits of flesh clung to the walls, and the air felt thick, heavy. She nearly slipped but caught herself, teeth gritted. "Senpai! Where the hell are you?!"
She pushed forward, deeper into the corridor, until she reached a door near the end. Hesitating only for a second , she gently opened the door
Her stomach twisted.
Inside, Rem hung from the ceiling fan by the neck, his body swaying gently. Below him lay a pile of corpses, limbs tangled, blood pooling. A fresh one sat at the top — a man with his throat torn wide open blood still spilling from it.
Himeno's hand trembled as she gently closed the door.
'No way… did Senpai really die?!' Cold sweat beaded down her face.
Then — the door beside her creaked open.
A pale, bloodstreaked face peeked through the gap.
Without hesitation, Himeno raised her hand.
An invisible force snapped the door off its hinges and gripped the thing behind it by the neck.
"KEEEE!" it shrieked, thrashing against the wall it was pinned to.
The ghost devil grip tightened.
CRACK.
Its neck snapped.
Himeno stepped closer, eyeing the motionless clown. ' How did senpai die to this thing?? 'she wondered, staring down at the ugly corpse.
But then — in an instant — its dead, glassy eyes flicked back to life, locking onto her.
' shit ! 'Himeno's instincts kicked in, hand shooting up to crush his head — but the clown was faster. From god knows where, it pulled a pistol and fired
BANG!!!
The bullet tore through her forearm, the raised arm saving her from getting shot to the head.
"Gaaah!" Himeno grimaced, clutching the wound as blood ran down her arm.
"Khe khe!" The clown grinned wide, raising the gun to her head.
"Fuck…" Himeno squeezed her eyes shut, her heart pounding.' Sorry, Mom… Dad… I'm a failure. ' She bit her lip, bracing for the end.
But before the trigger could be pulled — a wooden stake shot through the air, impaling the clown's skull and pinning its head back against the wall with a sickening crack.
Rem walked over to Himeno, the rope still hanging loosely around his neck. She was murmuring to herself her eyes still closed Without a word, he pinched her nipple.
"EEEEK! What the hell?!" Himeno jolted upright, slapping his hand away. When she saw his face, her eyes widened in shock. "Senpai—you're alive!?"
Rem ignored her and turned his attention to the devil pinned to the wall. "This is the Terror Devil," he muttered. "It's considered one of the weakest devils. Unlike normal devils like the AIDS Devil...born from collective human fears ...this one feeds on the fear of its immediate victims alone...its a bit special that why i like it"
'Aids ? Is that even a word ? ' himeno tilted her head in confusion
He casually slapped the clown-faced devil. "Oi. Quit pretending to be dead."
The clown opened one eye, grinned, and blew a kiss at Rem. "Mwah ♡"
Rem sighed. "Yeah, he's a bit silly… but also very ugly even from a devil standard"
The clown pouted, looking genuinely hurt
...
Later that night, the clown died in his sleep
