The morning sun slowly rises up and comes across the plateau drifting through the thick foliage of the trees. Snuffling snorts fill the air as a lone boar forages for food. Hylian Mushrooms, glisten with the morning dew intrest the boar drawing it closer. Before the boar could even taste the mushrooms a sharp snap startles it but before it could run it's lifted in the air clasped between two jaws before slamming into the ground. Lying weakly as numerous jaws tear into it's tough hide like butter the squeals just provoking more pain to the boar as it encourages the attackers. Flashes of purple and red fill it's sight before a jaw full of sharp teeth fills it's final memory.
" So it's not just the world of Hyrule but also monster hunter?," I say to myself as I look at the jaggi pack tear into the remnants of the boar. The sound of bones snapping fills the air as they eat every last morsel. " Monster hunter monsters are bad, as bad as gleeoks, and lynels," I say as I harvest some mushrooms and place them with the courser bee honeycomb I collected along with the korok fronds, Bird eggs, Hyrule herbs and some two pigeons I've hunted and dressed already. Using the shiekah tablet I teleport back to the tower along with a cook pot I found near the forest of spirits.
" So I got some stuff for breakfast," I say to the girls as zelda and Mineru spar with some training sticks and bark shields. They look at me as I pull out the herbs and eggs. I start prepping the ingredients I'm going to use as I hear the whacks and thumps along with either one's yelps of pain. " Got a jaggi pack in the forest so be careful from here on out," I say to them as Mineru stops and looks at me and answers.
" Those things are an inconvenience at best and a nuisance at worst," says Mineru sighing, " but it does raise concern if they're not the only beast monsters on this plateau."
" Like what?" Asks Zelda worried.
" Anything really except volcanic dwelling and desert dwelling species," says Mineru looking at Zelda.
'Ok, that's new,' I think as I start soft scrambling the eggs with the fried herbs and roasted mushrooms before folding it into an omelet. Fixing three of them for us Mineru and Zelda dig in. Soft moans escape their lips as they eat the meal.
Leaving the tower we start heading towards an Abbey ruins( according to the slate) and to the next shrine. A few chu-chus and bokoblins defeated we come across our first official monsters.
Large and leathery gray skin an apotnoth family stands in a divot surrounded by several orange bokoblins and a blue bokoblin riding a battle scarred jaggi. Zelda looks at the family worried for them as I look on and grimace. Zelda grabs her bow and fires an arrow at a bokoblin nailing it in the throat before another one falls with an arrow in its head. The bokoblins all start panicking as the lead apotnoth swings her tail around and slams it into the riding blue bokoblin and skewers it on her tail spikes. The jaggi backs away terrified until it's stomped on by the apotnoth crushing its skull. The bokoblins disappear in malice, or gloom while the jaggi just stays there as the apotnoth family walks away to graze at some yellowing grass by the bokoblins former skull base. Collecting the monster parts such as the horns and fangs a rare drop is found, bokoblin guts. Going into the skull base we find several red explosive barrels and two chests. Opening both of them we collect some bomb arrows and in the second chest is a large folded weapon pulling it out I unfold it into it's glorious shape, A defender heavy bowgun.
"Hmm. Strange I've never seen a weapon like that?" Says Mineru as Zelda looks on curiously.
( A/n: I'm placing monster hunter monsters in the story so I have to put the weapons but I'm making them unknown to the people as there isn't any blacksmith capable of creating them like in monster hunter.)
I shrug the weapon feeling it's hefty weight while cocking back the primer loading right rounds of normal lv1 slugs into the chamber. As I do a shrieking howl followed by a bellow is heard and Mineru looks on in horror.
" It's a great jaggi run use the slate to get back to the tower, it takes several trained soldiers to take even one down. We are not prepared for this."
" No you and Zelda get as close to the next shrine as possible and wait for me," I say handing Mineru my weapons except the bowgun and I exit the skull base. Zelda and Mineru hurriedly exit the base and run towards the shrine's direction following the apotnoth family as I stare at the large monster. A great jaggi is considered canon fodder hunt to the world of monster hunter but I'm not a hunter. "At least not yet," I say to myself as I look at the raptor like monster and fire the bowgun for the first time.
Bang
Zelda's POV
'Please be careful kyros' I think as I hear the sound of caged thunder and the monster's howling. Mineru looking terrified at kyros decision to take on that beast.
