Chapter 2 - Hidden Truth: The gate of the forgotten ch2

Chapter 2: The Prison Below

The SCP Foundation did not officially exist. Buried beneath black budgets, erased from paper trails, it operated in absolute secrecy under the facade of national security. Its real purpose, however, had twisted into something far darker.

Decades ago, the United States government discovered anomalies - objects, beings, even concepts - that defied reality. In response, the Foundation was born. It began as containment. Observation. Understanding.

But ambition is a poison.

As decades passed, the Foundation's motives shifted. Knowledge became leverage. Containment became control. And eventually, control became experimentation.

They weren't just studying SCPs anymore. They were harvesting them. Torturing them. Reconstructing their DNA to build hybrid weapons. Ethan uncovered this by accident while investigating a leaked database. And that's when the Foundation came for him.

They didn't kill him. They needed him.

He was immune. Resistant to infection, to telepathic suggestion - even SCP-882's auditory virus had no effect on him. The Foundation locked him away in Sub-Level 9, a concrete tomb two miles beneath the heart of New York city , with only cameras for company.

Astraeus came again in dreams, apologetic this time.

"I miscalculated," he said, his voice thinner. "I thought they would listen. I thought they would be ready. But they are greedy... and foolish."

Ethan's knuckles bled from punching the concrete wall.

"I told them what you said. I begged them not to touch it. Not to awaken 001."

"And they did it anyway," Astraeus said quietly.

The next morning, alarms blared through the prison. The Gate had opened.

And SCP-001 had awakened.

> 🔹 Note from the author:

I'm still improving as a writer, and the story gets much better from Chapter 7 onward — deeper characters, more intense twists, and way darker vibes.

Thanks for giving it a shot 💙
