Chapter 83 - The Shattered Veil

The air hung heavy with smoke and dust, swallowing sounds and blurring shapes. Kaela staggered forward, every breath a sharp stab in her wounded side, yet her eyes burned with fierce resolve. Around her, the battlefield was a whirlwind of chaos — shouts of warriors, the clash of steel, and the thunder of gunfire mingled into a relentless storm.

The once-majestic chamber was now a shattered ruin. Broken pillars lay strewn like fallen giants, and the cracked stone floor was slick with spilled blood. Flames licked hungrily at the edges of tattered banners, casting flickering shadows that danced like specters across the devastation.

Kaela's sword, slick with grime and blood, moved in a deadly rhythm, parrying and striking with precision born of desperation. Every movement was a battle against fatigue, pain, and the overwhelming tide of enemies pressing in from all sides.

Beside her, Ava fought like a tempest — swift, silent, and merciless. Her daggers flashed in the firelight, each strike felling another foe. Joren's explosives shattered walls and scattered enemies, his steady hands a beacon of calm amid the frenzy.

Suddenly, a figure stepped forward through the haze — the Ashen commander, bloodied but unbroken. His eyes locked on Kaela with a look of cold calculation and burning hatred.

"You've shattered my defenses, but this war is far from over," he sneered, raising his weapon.

Kaela met his gaze, voice steady despite the storm raging inside her. "This war ends tonight. One way or another."

The two clashed again, steel singing as it met steel, sparks flying from their blades. Around them, the battle continued to rage, but for a moment, time seemed to narrow — a fierce duel between light and shadow, hope and despair.
