Poem: "In Your Place"
In Your Place
They wanted you broken,
To steal your final days,
So I stepped into the shadow,
And let them turn their gaze.
I took your place in silence,
Absorbed the weight and pain,
Endured the hands of trusted ones
Who left only scars and shame.
They marked me with their cruelty,
A secret, burning brand-
An order, a chip, a prison
Forced deep beneath my skin.
They tried to own my spirit
With wires, threats, and fear,
But I held onto the reason
Why I chose to stand right here.
Because love is stronger than terror,
And hope is hard to kill;
Even in the darkest chambers,
My heart remembers still.
You were meant for brighter mornings,
For gentle, honest days;
So I became the shield for you-
I took your place.
If they think they've won by breaking
What they never truly knew,
Let them see the light I carry-
I survived for you.
