Note: this chapter is in Scarlett's POV
Andio Marksan Diu is the man who one day appeared in my life. I was just a five-year-old girl, so why did I have two dads? Am I different? I hate being different.
My dad who raised me is Finn Funky Janson. My mom is Sina Janson. I even have a brother; his name is Sino. My brother always says that I am adopted, and when I ask Daddy, he shouts at me.
The first time I met that man named Andio was at dinner. He claimed to be my real daddy and even brought something called a DNA test. When the man showed it to Daddy Finn, Daddy frowned. But after dinner, the man left and never appeared again.
I was happy that the man never came back.
On my birthday, when I turned six, I started going to school. My uniform was old and too big for me.
School was always horrible. My classmates bullied me. Why? I wish I knew. Is it because I am different? Why am I different?
Of course, I told my daddy about it, but he didn't care. He would shout at me and hit me.
I hated it. I wanted it to stop. I wished that man, Andio, would come and save me from this place. I'm scared. Someone please save me.
My only safe place was the basement where I slept at night.
Whenever I got home, I ran to my room — the basement. I rarely got anything to eat before dinner. Sino would always barge into my room and throw stuff at me.
Once, he threw a knife at me, and it got stuck inside my arm. That was the first time I saw blood. My gaze never left the knife inside my arm. I wanted to scream, but I had no courage. It was like something was blocking my voice. The sound of Sino's laughter made me shiver. My ears hurt. His laughter was like knives stabbing my ears over and over again.
Mommy, Daddy, someone help me. My warm tears ran down my cheeks.
Daddy and Mommy then came down to my room. When Sino saw them, he stopped laughing. My gaze shifted from the knife to Daddy. Our eyes met. He walked toward me and held the knife. I begged him to leave it in, but my voice was barely above a whisper. I was scared.
Then, suddenly, Daddy slapped me across the face. I froze in shock. Then he pulled the knife out of my arm, and I finally screamed. It hurt and burned. My voice shook just like my body. Blood was everywhere. It made me want to throw up.
Soon after, Daddy left the room with the knife in one hand and Sino's hand in the other. Mommy and I were left alone in the room. After she told me not to make a noise, she left me bleeding and crying alone in the dark.
