Chapter 4 - Hope Renewed

It's another day, another shot at regaining balance in my life. Today, I'm finally going to face my employees... if they come. To be honest, I'm not sure they will, but even if they do, what am I going to say to them? How do I convince them? What do I say to motivate them back into business? I fear they've lost hope in me and the journals. How do I reignite the hope they once had? What if they've all moved to other businesses and companies? I mean, if my whole life can turn upside down in two weeks, why can't they choose new career paths in two weeks? Honestly, I'm really confused. Mirabel drops her pen, closes her diary, and lies flat on her bed. She picks up her phone and calls Annabelle, who answers immediately. "Hey," Mirabel says in a soft voice. "What's up? Are you already at work?" "I don't want to go, Belle. I'm really scared. What do I say to them? What if they don't come? What if I can't move on after all?" Mirabel's voice is low and frightened. "It feels really weird hearing these things from your mouth," Annabelle says. "I mean, you said nothing would hold you back anymore. You said you have nothing to lose. So, why the sudden anxiety?" "Belle, do you think it's easy? I..." "Listen to me," Annabelle interrupts. "You're a boss. I know you've made wrong choices, especially when it comes to choices pertaining to your feelings. But in all, you're brave. You've never been frightened by any situation. Just do your thing, and even if they don't come, there are other people out there who are unemployed and will be willing to work under you." "But..." "Don't worry, just go there and be the boss you are," Annabelle says with tenacity. "Okay, I'll do my best. Thanks, Belle." "Best of luck," Annabelle says before hanging up.

Mirabel heads to her bathroom, takes a bath, and gets dressed in a blue blazer, white top, and blue jeans. She puts on her blue heels and checks her reflection, whispering, "It's now or never." She picks up her car keys and her handbag and heads out after saying goodbye to her nanny.

The company has 10 departments: the creative team, production team, client-facing team, media and distribution team, and support team. The creative team is led by Brown, the creative director, Jimmy, the art director, Frank, the copywriter, and Jessica, the designer. The production team has John as the producer, and Emily and Rick as directors. The client-facing team is managed by Sarah, the account manager, and Maya, the account executive. The media and distribution team consists of Tyrone, the media buyer, and Mateo, the media planner. The support team has Sofia as the project manager and Mason as the coordinator. Dianne is Mirabel's personal assistant, Lucy is the receptionist, Mark and Benjamin are the cleaners, and Mark also serves as the gateman.

Mirabel arrives at the office, thinking of honking her car horn but remembers the last incident. She picks her handbag and steps down from her car. She attempts to enter, but the gate is locked, "Why is this locked, it was not locked the other day...", she knocks, and the gate creaks open, and Mark stands before her. His presence sends a shocking blow to Mirabel, leaving her momentarily speechless. "Ma..., Ma...rk..." Mirabel stammers. "Good morning, ma'am, it's so nice to see you again..." Mark says with a smile on his face. "You may go in, ma'am, please give me the keys; I will park your car in for you..." Mark says as he collects the keys from Mirabel, who proceeds into the office in shock.

On entering, she notices that everywhere is neat, the reception is well-organized, and Lucy is in her office. On seeing Mirabel, Lucy rushes and embraces her, "Miss Mirabel, welcome back...." Lucy says still clinging to Mirabel. "Lucy... You're here...." Mirabel asks. "Yes, ma'am, and so is everyone. When Dianne called us, we were so happy that you came back; we were really worried.." Lucy says, finally releasing her grip on Mirabel, looking at her in a state of happiness. "Are the others here...." Mirabel asks. "Yes..." Lucy replies. Mirabel gasps, her mind and heart filled with anxiety and happiness. "Thank goodness.." "They're all in the boardroom; we know you'll want to address us...," Lucy says, collecting her handbag and pulling Mirabel towards the direction of the boardroom.

Here is the rewritten text with corrections:

The boardroom was the most important and serious section of the building. Critical decisions, important meetings, and important matters were discussed or held in the boardroom. As Mirabel entered the room, a standing ovation was observed for her. She was overwhelmed with joy; she wasn't expecting this kind of welcome from her employees; she couldn't help it but shed tears. "Welcome back, ma'am..." Frank says as the applause dies down. Mirabel pulls herself together, her eyes still wet with tears. "You may all sit..." Mirabel says, her voice shaky. They obey her command and sit on the chairs which had a round table in the middle. "Honestly, I didn't expect you all to come here today. I messed up big time and nearly closed down the company my dad worked hard to build. I nearly lost and put aside the memories that have been made in this building. I nearly made you all unemployed. I nearly disappointed my dad. I sincerely want to apologize for the mistake I made. I am really sorry, but I want you all to know that the journals are back in business and nothing will ever draw us back again." As Mirabel stops speaking, they all applauded her speech and shouted "We're back!" Mirabel dismissed them and orders them to return to their duty posts; they all leave but Dianne waits behind.

"Ma'am..." "Yes, Dianne..." "Brown isn't returning; he has gotten a new job..." "That's okay. We'll get a replacement. Don't worry, put out the ad for the need of a new creative director and let the interview begin immediately the applicants start arriving..." Mirabel says. Mirabel gives Dianne more instructions before she (Dianne) leaves.

"It's truly a new beginning for me..." Mirabel says.

meanwhile Vicky is in his room, on his bed, his mind wandering here and there, thinking of how he's going to get a job... He shakes his head, picks up his phone, "I hope this phone doesn't spoil anytime soon, if not I am doomed..." Vicky says, looking at the phone. He goes through the blog for job offers and then scrolls through..., "I hope there's an offer...". His eyes land on the offer from the journals on a need for a creative director. "Yes!!!..., Finally, this is the one offer I have been waiting for..." says Vicky, reading more on the offer...,"Interviews start tomorrow...."

Excited, Vicky immediately rushes to his mother Caroline's room. Caroline is lying on her bed. "Mom! Mom!" he calls out, bursting into her room. "I found a job offer! The journals are looking for a creative director, and I'm going to apply!" Vicky exclaims.

Caroline smiles and congratulates him. "That's wonderful news, Vicky! I'm so proud of you."

Vicky nods eagerly and heads back to his room to start preparing for the interview. He begins brainstorming potential interview questions and answers, thinking about his past experiences and how they relate to the job. As a creative director, he would need to lead a team, develop innovative solutions, and communicate effectively.

With renewed determination, Vicky spends the rest of the day practicing his responses, working on his portfolio, and rehearsing his presentation.
