Chapter 6 - A Chance Encounter

Mirabel sat on her bed, writing in her diary. "Well, after a long time, I feel happy and lively. This is a feeling I haven't had in months. Things are going well in the company, although we haven't received any job proposals, everything is still going smoothly. The employees at my workplace are putting in maximum efforts; Dianne has been superb, Lucy is doing her best, and Mason is also doing well. All we need is a job proposal and a creative director. I hope the person Dianne chose fits in perfectly."

She closed her diary and dialed Dianne's number. "Don't tell me you're still in bed?" Mirabel asked.

"No, I was in the bathroom. I'll get dressed and be on my way; it's still a minute past six," Dianne replied.

"I hope you called the applicant yesterday," Mirabel said.

"I did; immediately you ended the call, I called him," Dianne replied.

"Okay, I just hope he'll come on time," Mirabel said.

"Don't worry, ma, he will," Dianne replied.

"You better get dressed; I must not get there before you because I am already approaching my car," Mirabel said.

"Are you sure? Because it sounds like you're still in bed," Dianne said.

"How do you know...?" Mirabel asked.

"That means I am correct..." Dianne said.

"No... Just get dressed and go to work," Mirabel said, ending the call.

Dianne got dressed, checked her look in the mirror, and received a call from Mark. "Yeah, Mark, what's up?" Dianne asked.

"There's a man here, he says he's here for another interview... or something..." Mark replied.

Dianne was shocked but quickly composed herself. "Is he still there?"

"Yes, he is still here. Should he come in?"

"Yes, of course. Escort him inside, and when Lucy arrives, tell her to give him a hot cup of coffee," Dianne instructed.

Dianne hurried out of her apartment and headed to the office. She arrived at the office at 7:30 and saw Vicky sitting in the reception area, chatting with Lucy.

"Good morning, ma'am," Vicky said, standing up.

"No, no, the only ma'am in this place is Miss Mirabel. Call me Dianne," she replied with a sharp smile.

"Good morning, Miss Dianne," Vicky said.

"You are truly a gentleman, aren't you?" Dianne said.

Lucy, who was grumpy, cleared her throat and said, "Hey, miss, don't try to get the newbie attracted to you, okay? He's my personal... good friend."

Dianne shook her head and pulled Vicky towards her office. "Believe me, he's all yours," Dianne said.

About 30 minutes later, Mirabel entered the building and walked straight to Lucy's office. "Lucy," Mirabel said, tapping the table.

"Oh, good morning, ma'am. How are you doing today?" Lucy asked.

"I'm good. Is Dianne here already?" Mirabel asked.

"Yes, ma'am, and the cute guy is also here," Lucy replied, covering her mouth.

Mirabel raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me, which guy?"

"I meant Vicky, the job applicant," Lucy said.

Mirabel instructed Lucy to inform Dianne that they should report to her office with Vicky. Lucy put the call across to Dianne, and without wasting time, Dianne and Vicky went straight to Mirabel's office.

"Good morning, ma'am. Here's his CV," Dianne said, handing Vicky's CV to Mirabel.

"Okay, you may leave. I'll call you when I'm done with him," Mirabel said.

Dianne left the office after whispering "good luck" to Vicky.

"Have a seat," Mirabel said.

"Thank you; you're looking beautiful this morning," Vicky said, taking his seat.

"Thank you, but complimenting me won't guarantee your employment," Mirabel replied sharply.

"What's your name?" Mirabel asked.

"I'm Vicky," he stammered.

"What's your last name?"

"I don't have one. I'd like it if you ignored that part," Vicky said.

"Something personal?" Mirabel asked.

"Yeah, I'm glad you understand," Vicky replied.

"Do you stammer?" Mirabel asked.

"No, I don't. I'm nervous, that's why," Vicky replied.

"Why, do I look intimidating?" Mirabel asked.

"No, no, you're not. You're amazing and lovely," Vicky said.

Mirabel smiled. "Okay, your weirdness. Second question, what drives your creative vision?"

"I'm driven by a passion for innovative storytelling and a desire to connect with audiences on and stay inspired by exploring diverse art forms, trends, and technologies."

"Nice , third question how do you lead a creative team... "

"I empower my team by fostering a collaborative environment, providing constructive feedback, and encouraging experimentation. I believe in giving team members autonomy while ensuring our projects align with the company's goals." Says Vicky

" How do you handle creative differences within a team... " Mirabel inquires

"I believe in open communication and active listening. When disagreements arise, I facilitate discussions to understand different perspectives, and we work together to find a solution that meets our project objectives." Says Vicky.

Mirabel sighs and proceeds futher with her questions" what's your vision for our creative team"

"I envision a team that is innovative, collaborative, and passionate about creating impactful work. I'd focus on building a culture that encourages creativity, experimentation, and growth, while delivering high-quality projects that exceed our clients' expectations."

" I must, say Vicky..., am I right... "

" Yes ... beautiful... " Says Vicky

" Excuse me.... "

" No... Nothing, please continue... "

" Okay.., I have accessed you and you seem fit for this post.., however I have a final test for you, are you cool... "

" Sure ... " Says Vicky

" You are going to work on a creative campaign on a fruit drink..., go home and then return tomorrow with your work..., for now you may leave.." Says Mirabel.

" Excuse me.." Says Mirabel

" Nothing, I will take my leave... " Says Vicky as he hurries out of her office.

" He's weird..... , really really weird..." Says Mirabel picking up the telephone on her desk, she calls Dianne who answers immediately.

"Please report to my office," Mirabel said.

Dianne arrived shortly. "Ma'am, you called?"

"Yes, I told you I was going to call you when I was done with him. Sit down," Mirabel said.

Dianne took a seat. "How was he?"

"He was okay. I must say you have a good choice, but he seems weird," Mirabel said.

"Weird, in what way?" Dianne asked.

"I don't know, sometimes he acts somehow and at times he's cool... in all, he's great," Mirabel replied.

"Bravo to me," Dianne said, raising her hands.

"Hold on, just pray he impresses me with his campaign or else who knows..." Mirabel said.

"He will," Dianne replied. "And by the way, you look fantastic today."

"Hmmm, he said the same too," Mirabel said.

Dianne smiled broadly. "Wow."

Vicky returned home, rushed to his room, and laid his face down on the bed, breathing heavily. He stood up and said to himself, "Well, that went well. Just one more assessment to go, and I'll get the job. I must say Mirabel's really cute... she's so... Vicky, focus."

He slapped himself softly and reached out to a pen and paper, his mind ready to brainstorm on the fruit juice campaign. "Okay, no problem. I will have to do my best to impress hed tomorrow, it will be great if I get the job.., I feel quits positive about working in the jornals and Mirabel...." he pauses for a while, his mind pictuding Mirabel's face.

" Vicky.., focus..."he says, shaking his head. He places the paper on his lap and starts jotting his ideas down.
