Chapter 18 - chapter -17 Dinner at Late night

Next morning:

Jimin sat at his desk. The glow from his laptop screen illuminated his tired face as he focused on the new project in front of him—a partnership proposal with an international firm. His fingers danced over the keys, typing with precision, but his thoughts kept drifting.

No matter how hard he tried to concentrate, his mind kept looping back to the conversation from the previous night. The words Mr. Jeon had asked… "Are you two together?"Jimin couldn't shake the tension in the air after that question. His thoughts flashed back to that moment, so vivid it felt like it had just happened.

Flashback: The Jeon Mansion, the Night Before

Jimin had barely gotten comfortable on the sofa when Mr. Jeon had dropped the bombshell.

"So, I'll just ask you plainly—are you two together?" Mr. Jeon's voice had been low, but there was no mistaking the weight behind his words.

the moment Mr. Jeon had spoken, it was as if the air had thickened , jimin's heart had skipped a beat, his mind scrambling for a response. His eyes had flicked to Jungkook, and for a split second, he thought he saw the same panic in his eyes.

The silence stretched, suffocating them both.

Jungkook, ever the quick thinker, had been the first to break it. He laughed, a little too loudly, too nervously. "Hahaha, Dad, we're best friends," Jungkook had said, brushing it off with an easy smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.

But Jimin had felt it—the way Jungkook's words didn't completely ease the tension. His grip on his glass tightened ever so slightly, the edges of his heart prickling with something he couldn't quite define.

Mr. Jeon had clearly sensed it too. He'd raised an eyebrow, but he hadn't pushed any further. Instead, he'd smiled knowingly and leaned back in his chair. "I see. Well, I just wanted to make sure," he'd said, though his tone was still a bit too careful.

Jungkook had quickly added, as if to shift the mood, "Dad, I have to drop jimin home, if you Don't mind we can talk about it later."

"Of course, son," Mr. Jeon had replied, his gaze lingering a moment longer than usual, before he waved them off. "Good night, you two."

Jimin and Jungkook stood near the door, ready to leave, and Jungkook had turned to him, his expression softer than before.

"You good?" Jungkook had asked quietly, his hand resting briefly on Jimin's shoulder. "Don't let my dad's questions get to you."

Jimin had nodded, though he couldn't help the flicker of uncertainty in his chest. "I'm fine. It's just… a lot to think about."

Jungkook had smiled gently, his thumb brushing against Jimin's skin in a small, almost comforting gesture. "We'll figure it out, yeah? No rush."jimin nodded.

And with that, the moment had passed, but the question lingered in the air.

End of flashback

Back in the present, Jimin let out a quiet sigh, rubbing his temples as he tried to focus on the proposal in front of him again. But his thoughts kept wandering back to that night—Jimin finally let out a deep sigh and shut his laptop. The day's work could wait. He needed to clear his head. Maybe a coffee would help.

Same day at night:

The office was nearly empty now, the hum of the computers the only sound in the otherwise quiet building. Jungkook, however, was still hard at work. His computer screen was filled with numbers and graphs, his brow furrowed in concentration. He had always been a night owl, and tonight was no different. He had no intention of leaving anytime soon.

As he walked down the hallway, passing Jimin's cabin, he paused. The soft glow of the lamp in Jimin's office caught his attention. Jimin's figure was hunched over his desk, deep in thought, eyes glued to the screen. Jungkook couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity. What was he still doing here this late?

Jungkook turned back, walked to Jimin's cabin, and knocked gently on the doorframe.

"Working late?" Jungkook asked with a soft smile.

Jimin startled ,His eyes snapped up from the screen, and he blinked in surprise. "Oh... Jungkook," Jimin said, slightly flustered. "Didn't realize you were still in office."

Jungkook smirked playfully. "I could ask you the same thing." He stepped inside and leaned casually against the doorframe, eyes scanning the room before landing on Jimin's weary face. "What are you working on so late?"

Jimin hesitated before answering, "Just some pending work. Nothing urgent.

Jungkook nodded , and took a step closer, his eyes twinkling mischievously. He placing himself comfortably next to Jimin's chair. Before Jimin could react, Jungkook's head was resting lightly on Jimin's shoulder, his breath warm against his skin.

They both froze, their surroundings seeming to blur as they held each other's gaze. Jimin felt his pulse quicken. the way his breath tickled the side of his neck, the warmth of his presence, the soft sound of his breathing filling the space between them.

Jungkook tilted his head, looking up at Jimin with an unreadable expression. "So… did you have lunch today?" he asked, his voice low.

Jimin blinked, slightly startled by the sudden shift in the conversation. "No. I've been too caught up with work."

Jungkook chuckled softly, his gaze softening. "Well, how about we go grab dinner then? I know a place not far from here."

Jimin's stomach growled at the thought of food, and he chuckled sheepishly. "I'm starving, actually."

Jungkook grinned. "Then it's settled."

The restaurant they chosen was warm and inviting, its soft lighting casting a cozy glow over the room. The tables were set elegantly, with quiet music playing in the background. They settled into a corner booth, the world outside seeming to fade away as they focused on each other.

Over a delicious meal, they talked easily, laughter flowing between them. Jungkook kept stealing glances at Jimin, his playful nature coming out in their conversation. They joked about work, teased each other, and shared stories of their childhoods—small moments that felt intimate despite the casual setting.

As their conversation turned more personal, Jimin mentioned something about his childhood back in Busan. Jungkook's ears perked up at the mention of his hometown.

"Wait a second," Jungkook said, leaning forward with interest. "You're from Busan too? I'm from there as well."

Jimin blinked in surprise, then smiled, a little amused. "Yeah, born and raised in Busan. I didn't realize you were from there too."

Jungkook chuckled. "Small world, huh? What a coincidence." He took a bite of his food, but his curiosity remained. "So, what made you leave Busan?"

Jimin paused for a moment, his smile faltering slightly before he replied, "Well, after my graduation, I came to Seoul for further studies. There wasn't much for me back in Busan, so I thought... why not come to Busan and try something new?"

Jungkook nodded, intrigued. "I get that. Sometimes you need to make that kind of change. But it must've been hard leaving home, right?"

Jimin shrugged, trying to keep the mood light. "It was. But after a while, you get used to it."

Jungkook leaned back in his chair, thinking for a moment. "I came to Seoul when I was eleven," he said, his voice a little quieter now. "My father's company shifted here, so we moved with them. It was a big change, but... I didn't have much of a choice."

Jimin's eyes widened a little. "Eleven? That's pretty young to leave everything behind."

"Yeah, it was. I didn't know anyone, and it was tough at first," Jungkook said with a slight laugh. "But over time, you get used to the new place."

Jimin nodded thoughtfully. "So, after that, you never went back to Busan?"

Jungkook shook his head, his gaze growing distant for a moment. "No, I haven't been back since. But someday, I'd like to."

A comfortable silence settled between them for a moment. Then Jimin, suddenly hesitant, broke it.

"So... the girl at the party the other day..." Jimin started, his voice unsure, but his curiosity evident.

Before he could finish the sentence, Jungkook's eyes lit up. "Oh, Minji? What about her?" he asked, his tone teasing.

Jimin's brow furrowed, though he quickly masked it with a calm expression. Jungkook clearly knew where this conversation was headed, and he didn't waste a moment to tease. Jimin, frustrated but trying to stay composed, sighed and replied sarcastically, "I think you must've dated her. She's good for you, after all. Your mom chose her for you, right?"

Jungkook's jaw dropped at Jimin's bluntness. He had never expected Jimin to be so direct with him, especially with something as casual as this. But, after a beat, Jungkook composed himself and smirked. "But I don't like girls."

Jimin froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. Whatever he was drinking, he nearly choked on it, and he quickly sputtered, "Jungkook… how can you say something like that out loud?"

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, looking completely unfazed. "What's wrong with that? You already know I like boys. Actually... particularly one boy." He added, his gaze locking with Jimin's.

Jimin's face turned beet red, his heart suddenly racing. "Wha—what?!" he stammered, barely able to process what Jungkook had just confessed.

"Oh, someone's blushing," Jungkook teased, his grin widening as he leaned in a little closer, clearly enjoying the effect his words had on Jimin.

Jimin quickly covered his face with his hands, trying to hide his embarrassment. "Jungkook, stop..." he whispered, his voice a mix of flustered and exasperated.

Jungkook laughed, his rich, deep laugh filling the space between them, making Jimin even more aware of how close they were. "Make me."

The teasing continued for a while, with Jimin doing his best to compose himself, while Jungkook seemed to find endless amusement in watching him fluster.

Jimin couldn't help but feel a warmth spread through him, though—whether it was from the teasing or something deeper.

After some time They finished dinner ,and The night ended with a soft, lingering goodbye outside the restaurant.

End of Episode.
