Chapter 40 - chapter 39

After a moment of silence, Bai Wangyan finally spoke in a detached voice,

"Who are you? Why are you interfering in this matter?"

"My name is Liang Yi. I'm your real older sister. We are of the same family,"

Liang Yi spoke with a slightly gentle tone, her eyes reflecting mixed emotions.

"At first, I wasn't sure whether you were truly my younger brother or not. But just now, the power you unleashed was so strong… and it greatly resembled Mother's power. And your eyes… they look exactly like our father's."

She gave a faint smile before continuing.

"That's why I'm certain… You are my younger brother."

"Younger brother… is that so?" he repeated coldly, his sharp eyes filled with suspicion.

Yet, the power he had sensed from her just moments ago was undoubtedly lofty and overwhelming, beyond that of any ordinary person.

And she had known his name without him ever telling her. It was possible… that she really was the older sister he had never met.

However, words alone were not enough to be considered solid proof.

Blue energy radiated from his body, surging in a mighty wave toward her

But with merely a flick of her fingertip through the air, that immense force dissolved instantly, as if it had never existed.

He stared at her.

She stared back, calm and unwavering.

In their eyes, there was a cold stillness, like beings devoid of emotion.

"You may still be confused and uncertain, wondering whether what I said is true or false," she spoke with a chill smile while gazing at him.

"Perhaps, until now, there has never been an older sister like me in your memories. But I can assure you I am your sister. If you wish to prove it, you're welcome to try."

"Hmph. How do you propose to prove that?" he scoffed.

"I know your name without you ever saying it. And our bloodlines are not different.

If you want to test me through a clash of powers, so be it,"

Liang Yi's eyes reflected absolute sincerity. Everything she had said was true.

"If you are not truly my sister, then not even a single drop of your blood shall be spared!"

Bai Wangyan glared at her fiercely. His eyes were razor-sharp, devoid of jest.

The air around him turned icy cold.

A chilling aura spread from his body as if the frost could pierce down to the bone.

Those nearby could not stop themselves from trembling in an instant.

"Wait! Don't test each other here!"

Lan Chanzhun scrambled to his feet, cutting in with a panicked tone.

"If you fight here, everything around us will be destroyed!"

He looked around with worry.

If those two truly clashed, the desert might be reduced to nothing

All might vanish in the blink of an eye!

Liang Yi turned briefly to look at Lan Chanzhun.

He could rest assured

She had no intention of using force to prove anything.

She had no desire for unnecessary bloodshed.

Besides, she knew well enough…

Defeating Bai Wangyan wouldn't be easy.

Even though she was extremely powerful,

that did not guarantee she could best him.

His abilities were enigmatic and fearsome beyond measure.

She clenched her fist tightly, then squeezed hard

Deep red blood seeped out between her fingers, drop after drop falling to the ground

like flickering flames dancing in the darkness.

A faint red glow from her blood began to ripple outward,

shimmering and rising upward.

Bai Wangyan's eyes widened.

His body froze as if spellbound,

when his hand instinctively reached out and touched that radiant glow.

The moment his fingertip brushed it,

a strange sensation surged into his mind.

His body jolted.

His breath caught.

This blood…

was exactly like his own!

Within his mind, thoughts spun into a chaotic storm.

The truth in her words was not a lie

She was his real sister!

Bai Wangyan unconsciously stepped back.

His face filled with disbelief.

He couldn't trust what he was seeing, nor the feeling racing through his body.

Confusion overwhelmed him.

His heart pounded wildly.

Same blood… same bond…

They were siblings born from the same parents!

She really is… my sister, he thought,

his eyes flickering with emotion.

But the woman before him only gazed at him steadily

With eyes filled with warmth…

a warmth he had never known before.

"...Sister."

His voice trembled, soft but full of emotion.

His eyes reflected surprise and joy.

He never would've thought

Never imagined that she would truly be his blood sister.

His heart beat violently.

His thoughts swirled, overflowing

But deep within, a gentle warmth began to seep into the once-lonely heart of his…

"These past days, I've been watching you constantly.

I was only certain you were my brother today."

Liang Yi's voice was gentle, her eyes glowing warmly.

A faint smile appeared on her lips as she continued,

"I must thank Xin Tingting…

If she hadn't saved you, I may never have had the chance to meet you like this."

As she spoke, she raised her hand and gently brushed his hair.

Her touch was soft, full of sisterly affection a kind of care Bai Wangyan had never received before.

It reached deep into the loneliness within his heart…

"Xin Tingting…" Bai Wangyan murmured.

"Your eyes are exactly like our father's.

I still can't believe how lucky I am to have found you again, little brother."

Liang Yi lowered her hand, gazing deeply into his eyes.

"Liang Yi… is he really your younger brother?

He's so handsome…"

Xin Tingting emerged from one side,

her face filled with excitement.

She beamed brightly, unable to hide her joy.

Seeing the young man standing before her,

she thought to herself

This journey into the outside world was worth everything!

The boy with long, pure white hair standing nearby made her heart swell rapidly and beat uncontrollably.

Xin Tingting quickly strode toward Bai Wangyan and leaned in slightly to observe him up close.

Her eyes widened in admiration before she spoke with a cheerful voice

"Every angle looks good on you…"

Her lips curved into a gentle, enchanting smile.

Even her words couldn't conceal the admiration in her heart.

A soft blush appeared on her cheeks as she stood so close to him.

Bai Wangyan could feel her eyes locked onto him.

He felt slightly awkward and turned his gaze away

Yet within, there was an unfamiliar feeling stirring.

It was attention…

It was acceptance

Things he had never known before.

"You're… that baby,"

Xin Tingting said as she stared at him closely.

Even though his hair color didn't match what she remembered,

after what she had just heard, she was now certain

He was the same person.

Her eyes sparkled with curiosity before she stepped back to her original spot and turned to Liang Yi.

"Yes. I'm him,"

Bai Wangyan replied in a calm yet firm tone.

His eyes remained cold and unreadable

as though no emotion could shake him.

He glanced at the girl before him

The beautiful young girl with golden flowing hair.

She was Xin Tingting,

the one who had saved his life.

The very reason he stood here today.

If not for her…

he would never have known the truth.
