Cherreads

Chapter 3 - 3 YEARS LATER

Joel had gone from the weak boy of 3 years ago to a refined warrior. He had also found out that his red crest was definitely above the divine realm, as his cultivation speed was absurdly fast. In just three years, he had gone from the awakening stage to the core stage.

Joel, wake up, or do you want to be late for the entrance exam, Lily shouted as she entered his room. Just a little bit more, I will soon be awake, he said in a slumbering tone.

Splash, water fell on him from above as Lily soaked him with water. Fuck, that was not necessary, he said while getting of the bed, heading for the bathroom.

Lily just smiled, as if savouring his pain.

Joel walked out of the bathroom, looking like a celestial being, his hazel eyes looking like they could pierce through souls.

He wore a blue shirt with a black jacket over blue trousers, further accentuating his features. He picked up the spear Lily bought for him by the side of his bed and went out.

Joel, I would have loved to follow you to the venue, but I have to work today, so don't worry, I will send you letters while you are at the academy. If it were before, Lily would have never thought Joel would enter, but in three years, she had been shocked numerous times by him.

Okay, sister Lily, I would be expecting them, he said as he flew out of the house, waving at her.

At the venue, Joel landed gracefully on the floor amidst the bubbling of the crowd.

Is that Joel Zephyron? I thought he did not get an affinity. Maybe he is a late bloomer, and awakened his affinity late.

Joel didn't even bother with the chatter of the people around him and only stood while surveying the area.

After standing for a little over 30 minutes, the examiner finally came out.

Seeing the man, all the chatters stopped as they greeted the man in awe. For someone to be a teacher at the Grand Mage Academy was no easy feat.

The examiner nodded when they greeted him and waved his hands. Immediately, several people in blue cloaks brought out boxes that contained several bands. They handed one to each of them without even making eye contact with them.

After the band was handed to everyone, the examiner began talking about the test. The test was divided into three stages. The first stage was mage rank. The minimum rank to enrol was the refinement stage, or be able to defeat a refinement realm mage. None of those below the refinement stage dared to do this, so 78% of the examinees were disqualified even before the main exam began.

Now that the useless ones have been sifted away, we shall begin the main exam, the man said as he grinned evilly.

The next examination involves you entering a secret realm to fight monsters. You earn points from the monster slain. In the end, the best 10,000 are going to be chosen for the final exam, he said as he snapped his fingers and a wormhole appeared below them, swallowing them all. Oh yeah, killing others lets you earn their points, he said as they all fell.

Was there no easier way, Joel thought as he stood up from the floor. I can think of that later, I have to handle these now, he said as he turned towards a pack of grey wolves at the foundation realm.
