Chapter 20 - Chapter: 20, Beginner Dungeon

Chapter: 20, Beginner Dungeon

After a day of rest, Dain talked to Lilith and walked to an underground place under the training facility. Right in front of the stairs, there was a large heavy metal gate that sealed what was on the other side.

He showed a badge to the guards and entered the gate with an iron sword in his hand provided by them.

Inside the sealed gate was a vast cave that emitted a bit more mana compared to the outside. The cave was slightly darker but there were many light sources that lit up the place a bit. While walking in a certain direction, he saw many workers in working clothes doing their work.

Most of them were mining the different colored crystals that he recognized as mana crystals. But some of them were taking a brief rest after mining for a long time. He slowly walked for about thirty minutes; making it obvious how much mana crystal was present in this first layer of the dungeon.

At the end of the cave, there were two guards in heavy armour. He again showed them the token and smoothly entered the stairs to the next floor that was also blocked by a heavy metal gate.

Why was Dain here you ask? It's because in this dungeon within the training facility, there is an item that he needs that was another source of his strength in the previous life.

He calmly walked ahead. The 2nd-4th level of this dungeon only had slimes as monsters, that didn't really provide enough exp and were weaker than him. Their average stats were Strength 2, Agility 1 and Mana 1, with some of them like the bosses having a bit higher than that.

Dain didn't waste his time here as what he needed was on the 10th floor of this dungeon. This whole beginner dungeon had only 20 floors in it. The rewards on the 20th floor were also very tempting but Dain didn't want them since he couldn't even use them even if he got them.

So without any delay, He quickly went to the 5th floor. In the 5th floor, there were only giant rats as monsters, which were level five creatures. Dain himself was only at level 6 so he decided to level up for a few levels before moving ahead.

As he walked ahead he saw a group of rats gnawing their teeth on a somewhat humanoid figure. That was strange, he thought. Normally people are not allowed past the second floor since the slimes there are mostly friends because they're too weak to fight even a normal five year old toddler.

Most people who are allowed past the second floor are strong enough to easily get to the 7th floor. So there is no way low level rats could actually kill a human. Also the rats were too many at the same place, so he couldn't clearly see the person.

Dain quickly thought of a way and decided to make a trap since he needs them alive. Making the decision, he quickly found a suitable location to dig a hole. He then materialized a Shovel by using [Envisioning].

He has discovered something very good. That [Envisioning] only expends energy for realizing something significant or valuable from imagination. Some menial things like creating basic clothes, tools, some basic effects like stealth for a certain period and things like changing appearance for a short period, won't cost any Skill energy.

With the newly created shovel, Dain began to dig a pit. He was trying not to make any sound so it was very slow, but thank god the ground wasn't that hard and the digging went smoothly…Somehow.

After he was sure that the pit was big enough to fit all the rats, he went ahead to attract the Rats. He took a deep breath and let out a shout that reached the entire cave,

"Hey weak little rats!! If you have the guts then come and fight me."

The Rats all stopped their mouths and looked at him together. The slight darkness made the hundreds of small eyes that looked at him very eerie and might've scared the shit out of if the person was someone else.

But Dain wasn't scared, since he didn't stop to see that scene at all. He directly ran away after shouting his words. He quickly rushed forward and on a narrow corner, made a long jump to land on the other side of the pit he had dug.

The giant rats rushed at him and seeing that their prey was in a dead end, they didn't care to look below and see the large hole. The horde of rats quickly fell into the pit together.

Following the first ones, all the rats also fell. The rats, realizing that they fell on a trap, tried desperately to climb up the walls, but the downpour of their comrades and kin made them distracted enough that none of them could have the focus to try.

After all the rats that followed him fell on the pit, Dain quickly materialized a heavy metal cover that might weigh about 200 kg.

The metal cover fell on the hole, covering it completely. This wasn't all the rats, this much he knew. The rats that ignored his taunt were very likely to be of high level. It wasn't that he taunted very well that these rats followed him.

The reason these rats followed was because they were stupid with no intelligence at all. Dain then decided to absorb them quickly since once they adapt to this situation, they would try to dig through the walls to get out.

Using his mana, Dain covered the entire hole with it, every corner of it. After he covered the hole with his mana, he executed the skill [EXP Converter]

The rats that were currently trying to regain their focus and adapt, suddenly let out a loud painful screeching sound that was mixed with many other painful cries.

The pain intensified as life force drained from their bodies, leaving them lifeless. After some more time of hearing this ugly cry, Dain finally heard the voice he was waiting for.

[You have absorbed Life Force…]

[You have Leveled Up]
