An hour had never felt so long. Alpha Kael felt as though his soul was ripped from his body. His neck ached, the wound deepened, leaving a hole. His hands trembled and his body was covered in sweat as he breathed hard, trying not to scream—but the pain was too much to bear.
"Ahhh… Leave my body," he screamed, but the shadows hummed in more harmony.
"You promised your life… why back down now?" their voices echoed, and Kael clenched his teeth. He slowly picked himself up from the ground and staggered towards the bed, but the pain was so much that he crumbled to his floor.
"We have a bargain," Kael cried, blood seeping from the corners of his lips.
"You have to make him barren." He looked up as the shadows danced on the curtains and pointed sternly.
