Chapter 28 - Chapter 27

Jeremy and Julie hadn't yet recovered from their previous encounter when the entire atmosphere suddenly shifted. Their gazes were full of unspoken words, and at the same time, there was no turning back. He felt it in the air — that pull that drew them closer also had its darker side. They were ready to face any threat, but one thing haunted them: Rosalie.

And now, like a shadow that had long troubled their souls, she appeared on the horizon.

"Julie…" Jeremy whispered, his voice tense as he felt himself begin to change again. Something was growing inside him, something demonic, calling him to confrontation. As if the world around him ceased to matter. As if every thought focused on what was coming. "Rosalie…"

Suddenly the air trembled, and his heart started pounding faster. He felt her. He sensed her presence as if she were just around the corner, hiding in the shadows.

Julie looked at him, fear painted in her eyes, but also determination. No matter how this would end, she knew she wouldn't let Rosalie make Jeremy her puppet. At least not without a fight.

"We'll have to face her," she said quietly, but there was power in her voice. As if this battle was inevitable. Or maybe it was exactly what she needed to finally free herself and Jeremy.

Before Jeremy could answer, they felt something explode in the air. As if the space around them shattered and the ground began to tremble. A figure materialized before them. Lightning danced around her, and thick fog filled the area.

Rosalie.

"I hoped you'd be more careful," she said, her voice piercing like a blade. Rosalie's face was calm, but there was something dark in her eyes. Something she had seen once before in her soul, but now it swelled like a river before a flood. "Do you really think you can avoid destiny so easily?"

Jeremy stepped closer to Julie, feeling his demonic power awaken once more. He didn't fully control it, but this time something inside him was different. He felt there was no turning back.

"This is the end, Rosalie," he said with cold certainty in his voice. "You will always be just a tool. This is not your world, not your life."

Rosalie smirked mockingly, but her eyes gleamed like a razor.

"How is it not? I have always been part of this world. Part of your fates, your family. And now… now I am your end." She waved her hand toward Julie, and a black energy aura surrounded her body. Sparks of power appeared in her eyes. She felt confident. Too confident.

Julie had no time to think. She felt her body react to the threat. Her heart was pounding wildly. She took a deep breath, focusing on her own power.

"I won't let you…" she began, her hands glowing with a soft light. In that moment, she felt something she had never felt before. A mighty force rising from within. "You don't decide, Rosalie. We do."

Jeremy grabbed her hand. He felt their powers start to merge into one stream. He sensed her uncertainty but also her determination. Together they would stand against Rosalie, knowing this was just one of many trials. Only the fight mattered now.

Rosalie smiled again, but now her gaze was full of rage and something even more dangerous. As if this battle was no longer just about dominance, but about something much greater.

"Funny," she said, slowly approaching them. "You want to take control? Let's see who really controls this world."

And then the space around them began to whirl. Energy from her body struck the air, tearing peace apart in an instant. Before Jeremy and Julie could react, lightning and shadows flooded the landscape.

Everything began to change. And one thing was certain — this fight would not end easily.

Rosalie stood opposite them, her body surrounded by a swirling aura, as if the very space was her ally. Jeremy felt his heart pounding in a maddened rhythm, while his hands grew colder. He sensed a shift, as if darkness and light were on the verge of collision, as if this fight would decide something eternal.

The cold, composed smile never left her gaze. Every movement was precise, calculated. Rosalie was no longer just one of those trying to destroy their world — she was something much more. A manifestation of something forgotten for centuries.

Jeremy felt it deeply inside himself. Something beyond control, growing within him, refusing escape. Darkness. As if he was part of it, as if in this moment he became a tool in a game he didn't fully understand.

"It's not like that…" he whispered, looking at Julie. Her gaze met his. Their hands remained intertwined, and the strength of their connection grew, intensifying with each second. At this moment, they both felt how the darkness wanted to separate them, as if Rosalie's very energy tried to break them apart, to destroy what was building between them.

Julie had no time to think. Everything was happening too fast. Rosalie stepped toward them, and the space around them trembled, as if something erased the boundaries of reality. Everything became unreal. She heard something powerful rising inside her. A force that was herself but still needed control. She felt her hands glow brighter, and energy explode in her chest.

"You want to take control?" Rosalie repeated, her voice like a whisper in the wind but carried through the ether. "You are only toys in my hands."

Everything happened too quickly. Jeremy felt something inside him begin to crack. His demonic power, which he had kept restrained for a long time, was starting to burst out. He didn't know if it was the connection with Julie or what he sensed now, but it felt as if the whole world was about to collapse.

"Stop, Rosalie!" he shouted, his voice filled with a power he had never revealed before. His eyes shone dangerously, and black energy swirled around him, difficult to control. "This is not your place. You do not rule this world. Neither me. Nor her."

Rosalie raised her eyebrows, and her smile grew wider. Sparks flashed in her eyes like death.

"You talk about control? That you have it in your hands?" she said sarcastically. "You have control over nothing. I've seen you. I know your weaknesses, your fears. They will destroy you, Jeremy. Just as you destroyed everyone who trusted you. And you know it."

At that moment, the space around them cracked. Julie felt it throughout her body, and her heart stopped for a moment. Jeremy no longer controlled his power. She felt a powerful wave of darkness flood them both, as if Rosalie herself was a magnet pulling them toward her.

Julie didn't waste time and closed her eyes, focusing on her own power. She knew they couldn't lose. They couldn't let the darkness win.

"Together…" she whispered to Jeremy, holding his hand tighter. Their energies began to merge, rising like a tsunami. "Together we will defeat this."

At the same moment, the world around them exploded. The energy was so strong it shook the earth. Rosalie screamed but could not stop the wave of power tearing reality apart. Her body began to retreat, as if unable to withstand the powerful force Jeremy and Julie unleashed. But this battle was only the beginning.

Rosalie, surrounded by darkness, was gathering strength for another strike. Her eyes now burned with fury. She had no intention to give up.

"This is just the beginning," her voice echoed, growing quieter as if fading into the void. "You will never win. You will always have to fight to survive."

And then she vanished, leaving behind only emptiness and a lingering echo in the air.

Jeremy and Julie were left alone but had no time to rest. They knew something had changed. Something they couldn't fully understand yet.

"This isn't over," Jeremy whispered. There was something in his voice Julie couldn't understand, but she knew one thing: he wasn't going to give up. And neither was she.

When the dust settled after the clash, and the air still trembled with energy, Julie and Jeremy stood among the ruins of the shattered circle. The silence was unsettling. Julie felt a heaviness in her chest, as if a part of her had been disturbed. Something had changed — not only between them but within herself as well.

"Julie…" Jeremy looked at her with a new kind of attention. He stepped closer slowly, as if afraid to touch her, as if what had just happened might have irreversible consequences for her.

"It's okay," she replied, though her voice wavered.

It wasn't. Inside, she felt something awakening. Something that did not belong solely to her.

At that moment, Jeremy felt a familiar pulse. It wasn't coming from Julie. It wasn't coming from inside him. It was… the diary. His mother's book. Hidden deep in his backpack, it suddenly began to pulse like a living heart.

He reached for it without a word, and when he opened it, the pages turned on their own, as if Alison's spirit was guiding him to a specific passage.

"If ever the energy between you and another begins to resonate with a power greater than nature itself… know that you are closer to discovering the truth. For only the union of two extraordinary souls can open the passage between worlds."

Jeremy looked at Julie.

"That… this is about us," he whispered.

But before they could exchange another word, the ground beneath them trembled slightly. From the half-darkness emerged a figure. A long cloak, golden hair braided in an old warrior's plait. A face that looked familiar, yet not quite.

"I've been searching for you for a long time," the man said. "My name is Kael. I was a loyal companion to Jack and Alison when they were angels... before everything fell apart."

Julie stepped back a step, but Jeremy only squeezed her hand tighter.

"If you truly want to bring them back… and if you want a chance against Rosalie… you must listen to me."

Kael looked as if his body didn't fully belong to this world. His eyes were cloudy from experience, and his voice sharp as steel, hardened by countless battles. Yet he radiated calm — the same calm that Jack once surrounded himself with when he didn't have to pretend.

"Your parents… were not always who they ended up being," Kael said, looking straight at Jeremy. "They were light amid the ashes. They fought, but ultimately lost to the darkness. You can change that. You… Jeremy, you can win this."

"And yet," Jeremy clenched his fists, "we met her."

Kael nodded.

"Because not everything went according to plan. They were cast out, trapped in the borders of what is dead but not dying. But now… your connection with Julie awakens something that slept for decades. Their trace. Their power. Their will to return."

Julie moved closer to Jeremy, feeling his emotions beginning to stir beneath the surface.

"What do you want us to do?"

"Gather the three pillars. Three artifacts that once belonged to their world but were scattered when Rosalie began to take control. One of them… is already awakening within you, Julie. Your gift is no accident. It's the key."

"Key to what?" she asked softly.

Kael looked at her with a kind of recognition.

"To restoring balance. To opening the passage between worlds. To bringing them back — not as shadows, but as people. Strong. And able to fight again."

Jeremy nodded.

"And Rosalie?"

"She will try to stop you. She already senses you losing control. That you are connecting with something greater than her." Kael reached into his cloak and pulled out a small vial filled with black dust. "This is the first safeguard. Border dust. If you find yourselves on the edge of dimensions, scatter it. It will give you a moment. Nothing more… but sometimes that's enough to survive."

Julie took the vial in her hand. She trembled.

"How much time do we have?"

Kael looked to the sky. The clouds parted unnaturally, as if something inside them was breaking.

"Less than you think. Rosalie is beginning to understand she's no longer the only one who knows the secrets of Lucifer's blood."

Evening fell over the town like a heavy blanket, muffling sounds and leaving only the whisper of leaves. Jeremy and Julie sat near the ruins of an old house beyond the hill, away from Kael's watchful eyes and the growing shadow of Rosalie's unrest.

Jeremy stared ahead but his thoughts were elsewhere. On her.

"I feel like everything is starting anew," he said quietly. "But not like before. As if we are the beginning."

Julie turned to him, her eyes shining in the fading moonlight.

"And are you afraid?"

"Only for you," he admitted. "Rosalie won't give up. She… doesn't understand boundaries. She doesn't know the word 'stop.'"

"And I'm not the same girl I was at the start," she said with warm strength. "I'm not just the 'protection' you have to keep safe. I'm part of all this. Your part."

Jeremy turned his head, looked her straight in the eyes, and took her hand.

"Julie… When I met you, I thought you were the light I would never touch. And now… now you're the only thing keeping me balanced."

"And you're the one who makes me not fear this darkness."

He pulled her close, slowly, with the caution of someone afraid to lose what they were just beginning to understand. Their foreheads touched in a quiet, yet meaningful gesture.

"If everything falls apart… if everything breaks down," Jeremy whispered, "I want you to know that what I have with you is the only thing I'll never let go of."

Julie didn't answer. She cupped his face in her hands and gently pulled him to her, kissing him as if to seal all the things she still couldn't say.

The kiss was quiet but deep. Without drama. Without fear. Like a vow without words.

When they parted, Julie smiled slightly.

"Now you have no way out. You're lost."

Jeremy laughed shortly.

"Since the moment you first looked at me over your shoulder."
