Chapter 13 - Beyond the Fog, Two Rank 9 Dust!

However, the more time passes, the more he frown. The Yellow Dream Spider moved further and further away from the mountain of the Yin Clan. With every step, the crimson fog thickened like coagulating blood, wrapping the land in an eerie stillness.

A sense of unease settled in Yin San's chest.

This cause him to hesitate, he paused, eyes narrowing. But the yellow dream spider did not care for his thought and disappeared into the crimson fog. Beyond the crimson fog, there are dangerous and bizarre creatures.

Since ancient time, these crimson fog creatures are called "Transient Monsters"!

Yin San clenched his fists.

I have to risk it!

This infamous inheritance is too important to my progression. The person who obtained this fortunate encounter in my last life survived, there must be a reason! His eyes gleamed with a reckless light.

The fog curled around him like grasping fingers.

Visibility dropped to arm's length and the air grew thick, almost as though the intangible fog has now solidify. Yet the faint, pulsing glow of the Yellow Dream Spider continues to blink, becoming a beacon amidst the storm.

He could hear murmurs and whispers calling out to him. these whispers brushed against his ears, sometime soft, other time coarse. Each carrying fragmented words and names that were not his. Murmurs of longing. Of madness. Some contains knowledge, enticing him to lean in closer.

His eyes was cold as he walked forward, not turning his head.

"Transient monsters!," he sneered, eyes glinting with disdain. His expression turned cold, sharp like a blade in autumn wind.

A shadow flickered at the edge of his vision, a slithering shape that moved with unnatural grace. Still, he did not turn.

Finally, the suffocating fog parted enough to reveal a jagged crack at the base of another mountain. His breath escaped from his trapped lungs. He has been holding onto his breath for too long.

A hidden entrance!

Relief flashed across his face as he crouched beside it. The gap was narrow, barely wide enough for a child. Without the spider's guidance, he never would have seen it.

No wonder why that person discovered the inheritance in my previous life… Only a frail child's body could fit through the gap of the entrance.

Yin San didn't waste time and quickly entered through the narrow gap. As he passes through this gap, his back scraped against the stone wall. A coarse wound appear, followed by a trailed of blood, this made him frown.

The narrow crawl ended abruptly. He stumbled forward, blinking in surprise as the tight darkness gave way to light.

He found himself in a cavern, broad and high, yet sealed away like a secret. Above, a narrow hole cut through the rock, allowing light from the golden tree outside to filter in like lamp light. It pooled across the mossy floor, illuminating the space in a surreal, dreamlike glow.

The scent of damped soil as well as heavy floral suffocates the cavern, clearing away his own body stench of the Yin mountain.

He quickly looked around to in order to find the yellow dream spider. There were beds of moss blanketed the floor. Strange plants, some with speckled leaves, others bearing soft, glowing veins, clustered together in quiet defiance of the world outside.

He scanned the greenery.

On one of the leaf with green and white pattern, there is a familiar yellow brillance dot. At first glance, it could be mistaken for a mote of dust. But up close, its spindly legs and bulbous abdomen betrayed its identity.

The Yellow Dream Spider.

It lay still, nestled gently on the leaf, its delicate form occasionally twitching as if lost in a dream.

"This dream spider.. Because of the lack of food, and being ownerless, it resort to constant hibernation in order to survive longer…" Yin San exhaled slowly. After knowing that it had hibernated again, he didn't disturbed its sleep, afraid that it would fly away.

At this moment, the wind struck his back, this made it cool and refreshing, but he frown as he stare at the entrance he crawled from. There was a cold light barely concealed in his gaze.

"I need to stop the bleeding, the scent of blood will naturally attracts those transient monsters!" He observed his surrounding to find materials for bandaging his wound. His attention was naturally placed on the assortment of plants.

Within the assortment of plants, there was a plant with two leaf emitting red-hue, this startled him as he blinked in surprised.

"Rank 9 Rejuvenating Red Lotus Dust!" A chill smile formed on his young face. Even in the Yin Mountains, this plant dust was rare.

As this dust is a categorized as a living dust, its source of food is spirituality produced by a dustborn, and sometime, an awakened transient monster.

More importantly, the thing that the Rejuvenating Red Lotus Dust produce is the Red Lotus Petal. A rank 9 Red Lotus Dust can produce up to five Red Lotus Petal each day, each leaf capable of healing even a deep cut from a blade wound.

Seeing this Red Lotus Dust, he walked up to it in order to inspect its state.

"This place has not been maintained for a long time… I hope that this dust is still alive." he muttered with anticipation.

The Rejuvenating Red Lotus seemed to noticed his advancement and sway back and forth, as though to call for him.

As Yin San stand before the Red Lotus Dust, his fingers trembled slightly as he reached toward the plant.

"It's on the verge of dying," Yin San shook his head with a trace of pity," I'm just an ordinary person right now, I cannot control my spirituality… Say less for feeding it."

Still, he plucked a single red petal, leaving just one behind. Warmth bloomed in his palm, a contrast to the cold wind outside.

Then, he crush this petal. It was soft and weak, and as it break under his palm, a soft glow of crimson light rises. His back began feeling itchy, it was as though the skin and flesh started to become alive as they began to squirm.

This is another reason why this Rejuvenating Red Lotus is in high demand in the Yin Mountain.

With the leaf, even a mortal can use it without spirituality. For many medical dustborn, by possessing a Rejuvenating Red Lotus, they would have a stable stream of income.

If he were to become a dustborn, awakened his dust mark, then refined this Red Lotus Dust. Then he too, would be able to have a source of income. That is of course, hinges on the fact that he can explain where he obtained this Red Lotus Dust from.

"Clearly… the Yellow Dream Spider and this Red Lotus Dust were placed here by that infamous Rank 5 dustborn, Tian Long… This must be part of his inheritance." Upon remembering that name, his eyes revealed a rare hint of respect.

In this previous life, after he plotted and killed his uncle, Yin Bei, he was forced to escape in order to evade the pursuit of the Yin Clan. In the end, he ran from the Everwood Mountain Range, the area under the Three Clans. This all happened during the three clan's competition against the Ding and Bai clan.

After his departure from the Everwood Mountain, he lived as a vagabond, eventually becoming a lone demonic dustborn. It was much later that he heard of Yin Long, a rising figure in the world of mysticism, who wield a spider-like dust from the Yin Clan. This is how he heard about the Rank 5 inheritance.

"Yin Long, his method was bizarre and extraordinary, it's rumored that his opponent often died in their sleep…" Yin San murmured. Upon thinking of this fact, he was reminded of similar stories regarding Tian Long enemies.

Both of their enemies seemed to die in their dream. In combination with the name Yellow Dream Spider, Yin had his own guesses. After all, he too was once a powerful figure in the domain of dreams!

"Yin long. Tian Long. Both bearing the same name, is there a connection to this?" He shook his head, then looked toward the end of the cavern.

There was an entrance deeper, but it was sealed by a giant boulder. Between the gaps of the boulder and the inner wall, there was a slight gap, and through that gap, he could trace a hint of light peeking through.

"I heard that Tian Long was once a demonic dustborn, then this first cavern must be a trial!"

What was a demonic dustborn? Yin San was one.

To pursue their own ideal, and live life their ways, this was considered demonic nature in the eyes of the clans in the crimson shore. This is what makes demonic dustborn so dangerous. Because in pursuit of their ideals and ways, they slaughter and steal for their own gains.

Rarely does a demonic dustborn leave behind an inheritance. After all, they care for no one but themselves. The only reason which an inheritance is left behind by a demonic dustborn is because of their regret!

In a way, the purpose of a demonic inheritance is not just to leave behind their inheritance, but to nurture their inheritor in order to fulfilled their regrets!

"Since this a trial, then what is the test?" Yin San murmured, his eyes lingered on the sleeping Yellow Dream Spider, then at the Rejuvenating Red Lotus.

At this moment, there was another small traces of light in the corner of the cavern. It was silver-gray, and like the Yellow Dream Spider before, its light was blinking weakly.

"Rank 9 White Dung Beetle Dust!"
