Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: BETWEEN SHADOWS AND REALITY

The stillness of the night was broken only by the faint hum of an old fan slowly turning. Jung Kok stood before a weathered wooden desk, covered with old files. In his hand was a file labeled "Special Surveillance Subject: Min." His face was tense, his lips tightly sealed, yet his eyes burned with anger and betrayal.

When Hwang stepped into the room, the atmosphere immediately thickened.

"Father... how long have you known about Min?" Jung Kok asked without turning.

Hwang exhaled slowly. "Since 2007. He almost ruined the entire mission for us in the territory dispute with Kwon. But he was clever... and I thought he could change."

"And you kept all this a secret? You knew he was dangerous, yet you still let him get close to me?" Jung Kok's voice rose.

"I just wanted to give him a chance. Everyone deserves a second chance. But it seems I was wrong."

Jung Kok scoffed, disappointed, and left the room without looking back.

Elsewhere, Min sat in a dimly lit room, the only light coming from the red glow of his computer screen. His face was expressionless, but his hands worked quickly through surveillance data.

"Someone's digging into my past," he said quietly to the man beside him. "Find out who. And make sure they stay silent."

The man nodded and left, leaving Min alone.

Min touched a picture of Jung Kok on the screen and whispered, "You're too late, young one."

Meanwhile, Jung Joon and Rina were at an old house on the outskirts of town. The elderly man before them, Pak Gye, gazed at them with misty eyes.

"His name isn't Min. He's the son of Baek Sung-chul—the old enemy of your father," Pak Gye said quietly. "Sung-chul was executed... but his son vanished. Now I know where he went."

Rina and Jung Joon exchanged looks. This wasn't just an ordinary betrayal. It was a blood feud carried across generations.

Back at the dojo, Hana and Tae were reviewing the final note from the late Pak Mun. They noticed something odd in the handwriting.

"This is a code. The arrangement of letters and symbols... it's not a threat. It's a map," Tae said, his eyes gleaming.

Hana added, "And this symbol... it's the same as the one found on the dead informant's chest."

They rushed to the main headquarters, handing over the information to Jung Kok.

"If this is really the location of the 'shadow's lair,' we can't wait any longer," Jung Kok said firmly.

In a dark, sealed room, Min stood facing a wall covered with pictures and strings connecting them like a police investigation board. The faces of every individual who had ever been a barrier to Hwang were displayed there.

Hwang. Jung Joon. Jung Kok. Hana. Tae. And more.

"One by one," he said coldly, "I will erase every legacy that ever came from him."

And then the lights went out.
