The night sky seemed to hold thousands of secrets, and the wind sweeping through Hwang's old base carried with it an unseen dread. In the worn-down basement, Jung Kok and Jung Joon stood silently, gazing at the stone wall that held the history of their father.
"This is it," said Jung Kok softly, pushing aside a hidden wooden drawer behind a steel cabinet. Inside, a pale ivory envelope lay neatly preserved. The handwriting was clear — Hwang's own.
Jung Joon took it slowly, opening and reading it together with his brother. The contents of the letter were brief:
"If you're reading this, the light has already begun to be shrouded by shadows. Don't wait for me. Don't become me. But don't let this world be taken by those who disguise themselves as light."
They both fell silent. That message was more than a warning — it was a prophecy. As if Hwang had known all along that someone would one day dare to shake this legacy from within.
"He knew about Min before we did," murmured Jung Kok.
"But he chose to stay silent… maybe because he knew we had to face it ourselves," replied Jung Joon, his tone heavy.
They didn't know whether Hwang had purposely hidden this truth. But one thing was certain — this battle had long been written in the shadows.
Meanwhile, Min stood atop a tall building, gazing over a city slowly descending into minor chaos — riots, sabotage, and small conflicts among formerly united factions.
"This game has grown too quiet. Time to ring the bells of war," he whispered.
Behind him, the mysterious figure he had once met — a former strategist of Hwang — began laying out a new plan. Min gave a simple but deadly order:
"Destroy every trace that could lead them back to me. The living, or those who once lived."
Elsewhere, Rina and Hana moved with heightened caution. They were now using special communication channels developed by Hwang long ago, completely detached from any modern systems.
"Jung Joon asked you to transfer the backup files to the second location. They've detected the main route," said Hana as she copied data from one system to another.
Rina nodded. "Min's too cunning. We can't give him any room."
The chapter ends with the Jung brothers standing outside the old base, gazing at a new symbol painted on the wall — a fusion of Hwang's symbol and their own.
"This is no longer about Father," said Jung Kok, eyes sharp.
Jung Joon added quietly, "This is about us — and the future we want to build."
From a distance, a pair of eyes watched them. Min… or perhaps someone even deeper.
The shadows could no longer be separated from the light.
The true battle had only just begun.
