Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Transplantation

The day after settling the Talonflame and the Fletchinder, Eddie planned to transplant the fruit trees to Prosper Peak.

However, before transplanting, he went to find two Diggersby, one was the one Eddie had hired before, and the other was the one that planted an Oran Berry tree.

These two Diggersby, one male and one female, were together at some point, but now they are husband and wife. But it's no wonder, there are very few wild Pokémon in the human settlements of the East District, and if they don't pair up with each other, they will most likely be lonely for the rest of their lives.

When Eddie found them, the two guys were lying under an Oran Berry tree and snoring loudly. They were drooling, and no one knew what sweet dreams they were having.

Eddie was just about to go over to wake them up when suddenly a small head popped out from behind the back of the female Diggersby. It was actually a petite Bunnelby that must have been born not long ago and looked very cute.

Wow, the baby is born! Eddie was surprised.

The Bunnelby stared at Eddie curiously for a few seconds, then began to call for his parents.

"hobi~hobi~" Mom and Dad!

The two Diggersby thought they were being attacked by an enemy, so they sat up and looked left and right.

"Hoder? Hoder?" What happened?

"Hoder?" Who? Who?

The two guys were in a daze for a while before they noticed Eddie.

"Hoder~" So it's you.

Seeing that the person coming was their old acquaintance Eddie, the two Diggersby resumed their lazy look, leaning back against each other with drooping eyelids.

"Come on, cheer up! I'm here today because I want to ask you for help with something!" Eddie said.

Hearing this, the female Diggersby suddenly perked up. She suddenly sat up straight and asked in surprise: "Hoder~" Is there any health care?

"Yes!" Eddie assured.

"Hoder~" That's no problem.

The female Diggersby agreed immediately without even asking Eddie what he wanted it to do.

The male Diggersby had heard about the health care from his wife a long time ago, but he had never enjoyed it and had been looking forward to it. Now that his wife agreed, he quickly agreed as well.

At this time, the female Diggersby pushed out her cub, pointed at it and said to Eddie: "Count my cub in as well, it can help too."

The female Diggersby has personally experienced the benefits of health care, so she naturally won't forget to make plans for her own cub.

Eddie nodded. One more person wouldn't make much difference; they were all laborers.

"Okay, then follow me."

Eddie brought the two Diggersby and the Bunnelby cub back to the orphanage and began to direct them to dig the fruit trees out of the ground.

The Diggersby are good diggers and work very efficiently. In a short time, they dug out more than 30 fruit trees from the ground without any damage, without Eddie and Selene having to do anything.

Selene just needs to use her superpowers to move the dug fruit trees to the side, and the Popplio will sprinkle water on them to keep them moist. Then the Fletchinder will work in groups of two and use ropes to hang the fruit trees and transport them to Prosper Peak.

These fruit trees of Eddie were less than two years old and not very tall, so it was not difficult for the Fletchinder to transport them.

The whole process went on in an orderly manner. Eddie only needed to be responsible for directing and didn't have to do anything else. Now that the fruits on the trees have been picked, it is a good time to transplant.

Moreover, Coumarine City has a special location, close to the ocean, and has warm monsoons all year round, making it spring-like all year round, so Eddie does not need to consider the season when transplanting fruit trees.

After all the fruit trees were dug up, Eddie asked the Diggersby to level the empty ground and then took everyone to Prosper Peak.

All that remains is the planting of fruit trees.

Before planting the fruit trees in the ground, Eddie asked the Diggersby to turn over all the land they had cleared earlier, and then asked the Talonflame and Fletchinder to use flames to bake the soil.

High temperatures can sterilize, disinfect, and prevent parasites hiding in the soil.

After finishing all this, Eddie and Selene began to spread fertilizer on the ground.

These fertilizers were made by Eddie and Selene, and the production method came from the book in Ramos's study. He had tried it before, but he always made it in small batches, and never made so much at once like this time.

When Eddie and Selene were clearing the trees and weeds on the mountain, they would gather them together, then dig several large pits and put the dead branches and leaves into the pits in batches. (The wood on the trunk was used to build dormitories for the Talonflame and Fletchinder.)

Then Eddie went to the market and bought a kind of fertilizer specially used for composting. He sprinkled it into the dead branches and leaves, mixed it evenly with the dead branches and leaves, and then filled a large amount of humus soil into the pit to cover all the dead branches and leaves.

Humus soil is easy to find in the mountains and does not require Eddie and others to prepare it specially.

After a period of high-temperature fermentation, the fertilizer is ready!

However, Eddie did not use up all the fertilizer this time, but only a part of it, because he made a lot of it at one time, and he would need it when planting other fruit trees later, otherwise it would be too late to make it temporarily.

It took Eddie and his team most of the day to apply the fertilizer. Compared to this process, planting trees did not take much time.

As long as the pit is dug, Selene will use her superpowers to put the tree into the pit, and then Eddie and the Diggersby will fill the pit with soil. Soon, more than 30 trees will be planted.

Eddie handed the task of watering over to the Popplio. Anyway, now was the time when it needed to practice its skills. If watering was not successful in one go, it would be done a few more times.

The Popplio was very serious about practicing his skills. He was not impatient at all when watering and completed the task very well, which won Eddie's high praise.

By the time all the work was done, it was almost dark, and Eddie felt extremely tired.

He was so exhausted that he almost collapsed on the mountain after giving thorough health care to two Diggersby and one Bunnelby. In the end, it was the Talonflame that carried him back to the orphanage.

After arriving home, Director Eleanor saw that Eddie looked exhausted, so she said, "I'll go help you tomorrow, too."

When the children heard this, they also shouted, "I want to go too. I want to go too."

Eddie quickly explained: "Today's situation is special. The fruit trees have already been planted. We won't be so tired in the future."

Director Eleanor usually has to take care of the children, wash clothes, and cook for everyone, which is very tiring. Eddie can't trouble her any more. The children are too young to work for him.

"That's good." Director Eleanor nodded and said, "You are still young, don't be too tired. If you need my help, just tell me."

Eddie nodded and said, "Don't worry, I know what's going on. Besides, I'm not working alone." He told Director Eleanor that he had hired two Diggersby and a Bunnelby, and only then did Director Eleanor not mention going to help.

At this time, Eddie suddenly noticed that Brother Eli was not there, so he asked in confusion: "Where is Brother Eli? Why hasn't he come back so late?" He didn't have to go to school today.

Hearing this, Oliver said, "Brother Eli has been leaving early and coming back late recently. I don't know what he is busy with. He is never at home."

During this period of time, Eddie had been busy with Prosper Peak's affairs and had hardly communicated with everyone, so he didn't notice that Eli went out early and came back late.

Just as Oliver finished speaking, Arthor shouted, "Brother Eli, you're back!"

Everyone looked back and saw Eli walking into the yard.

During dinner, Eli asked Eddie, "Eddie, aren't you going to transplant the fruit trees today? How's it going?"

Eddie nodded and said, "It went smoothly. The fruit trees have been planted."

"That's good." Eli nodded, and then said apologetically, "I should have gone to help you, but I've been busy with some urgent matters recently, so I haven't been able to get around to it. I'm sorry..."

Eddie shook his head nonchalantly and said, "It's okay, just do your thing, I can handle it myself."

"Brother Eli, what are you busy with? I haven't seen you recently." Arthor said with dissatisfaction, pouting.

Eli patted his head when he heard this: "Don't ask so many questions, kid."

"I'm not a child." Arthor muttered and then shoveled rice into his mouth, "Cough cough cough..." and then choked.

Director Eleanor quickly handed him a glass of water, patted his back, and scolded him, "Don't eat so fast, chew slowly, understand?"

Seeing that Eli didn't want to talk about this matter, everyone stopped asking.

When Eddie woke up the next morning, he felt sore all over.

"Damn, it's been a long time since I felt this way! Farming is so hard."

Struggling to get up from the bed, Eddie felt as if he had become disabled and could only walk with a limp.

Seeing Eddie's funny walking posture, Oliver pointed at him and laughed: "Hahaha, Brother Eddie, you walk like a crab!"

Eddie: [ヘ?]

At this moment, Selene appeared behind Oliver at some point, staring at him with sinister eyes.

"Why do I feel a little cold?" Oliver shivered and looked back, just in time to meet Selene's chilly gaze.

"Shanai~" Who do you say walks like a giant crab?

Although he didn't understand what Selene was saying, Oliver still keenly sensed the danger. He picked up his schoolbag and ran away, shouting as he ran:

"Brother Eddie, I have to go to school first! You and Max can stay together."

Selene snorted in dissatisfaction: "You are so fast, but you dare to say that my baby walks like a giant crab. Is there such a cute giant crab?"

After saying that, she quickly looked at Eddie and asked with concern: "Baby, are you okay?"

Eddie waved his hand and said, "It's just overexertion. Just take a rest."

After breakfast, Eddie asked Max to go to school to ask for leave for him, as he did not plan to go to school today.

A portion of Prosper Peak has been reclaimed, and after planting the original fruit trees, there is still a large area left vacant, so Eddie plans to buy some new fruit seedlings to plant.

This time he didn't plan to use seeds to grow seedlings. Not only would it be a waste of time, but some fruit tree seeds could not be used to grow seedlings.

He used to pick fruits and peel seeds because he had no money, but now that he has money, there is really no need to waste time.

After putting Selene into the Poké Ball, Eddie went out with the Popplio in his arms. He was going to a plantation in the East District today, where they cultivated various fruit seedlings for sale.

This is just an affordable plantation. The fruit seedlings sold there are very ordinary, and the fruits grown there can only be sent to the vegetable market.

But Eddie didn't care. He could slowly cultivate the energy level of the fruit trees by himself. Anyway, he had neither the channels to purchase high-energy fruit trees nor enough financial resources to buy them.

Fruit trees with high energy levels are generally not seedlings, but mature trees.

The energy level of a fruit tree is related to the energy rating of the fruit it can produce. A fruit tree that can produce B-level fruit is of B energy level, and a fruit tree that can produce A-level fruit is of A-level.

However, the energy level of seedlings is generally only between F and C, because the longer the fruit trees are cultivated, the more energy they contain, and the higher the energy rating of the fruits they produce.

Therefore, there are very few growers who are willing to sell their years of hard work. They only sell the fruits, and not to ordinary people.

It's just that high-level growers are scarce, and most people may not be able to cultivate a fruit tree from one energy level to the next even if they spend ten years or so.
