Hundreds of skills and titles, a dense, overwhelming list, appeared before Kumoko. Ignoring the effects of all those skills and titles, just her base stats were five times stronger than Araba's!
Who could possibly win against a monster like that?! She was even stronger than Kumoko had imagined.
Previously, Kumoko thought her mom was slow. After all, a bloated monster that mostly just laid eggs, how could it be faster than her?
But when she saw [Godspeed LV 10] among the Queen's skills, and then noticed the Queen's staggering Speed stat of 24,000, she knew her mother wasn't slow at all.
In fact, she was much, much faster.
The Queen hadn't even been trying seriously to catch her before. Now that Kumoko had truly angered her, there was no way she'd get off easy.
Main Body:Even weakened this much, her stats are still this terrifying! I think I'd better run.
Magic Brain:It's the only option. We can only hope to slowly wear down the Queen's strength. Once she's weakened enough, then we can consider a direct confrontation.
Body Brain:Basically, if we fight head-on now, there's no way we can win against that monster. Let's just run. Run as far away as possible.
Main Body:Yeah, that's all we can do.
Within seconds, Kumoko and her Parallel Minds had agreed on a strategy. Running was their only choice.
The Queen Taratect was incredibly fast, closing the distance to Kumoko in an instant. Even before she reached Kumoko, a super-powerful breath attack shot out, seemingly ignoring distance, blasting towards her from far away.
Everything in its path was annihilated. The Queen was determined to crush this little spider.
It missed. While such a massive breath attack had incredible range, its accuracy wasn't great. The Queen was relying on her general sense of Kumoko's location, and the further away Kumoko was, the weaker that sense became.
Plus, an attack like that usually had a telltale wind-up. The moment the Queen started to prepare it, Kumoko's three Parallel Minds still inside the Queen's consciousness would immediately warn her.
Using her superb agility, Kumoko barely managed to dodge the terrifying impact of the breath attack. But even though she dodged the direct hit, the shockwave still injured her, instantly taking off 10% of her HP.
"Just getting grazed by the shockwave took off a tenth of my health! I can't even imagine what a direct hit would do!" Kumoko's heart pounded.
The Queen's attack power was just too horrifying. Even Elliot wouldn't dare to take that hit head-on, let alone her, with her low HP from the Shinigami's Shadow evolution path.
After dodging the attack, Kumoko immediately began casting Space Magic to escape. The Elroe Labyrinth was the Queen's home turf; the Queen knew it inside out. Fighting here would be a huge disadvantage for Kumoko. So, she quickly used Space Magic to flee the Elroe Labyrinth.
However, long-distance Space Magic required preparation time. Even Administrators weren't exempt from this.
Kumoko, despite having [Heresy Magic] and [Magic Supremacy], still needed several minutes to cast a long-range teleport.
And with her Parallel Minds not physically with her, she couldn't possibly watch out for the Queen's attacks and construct a long-distance space spell at the same time. Battles happened in an instant.
But Kumoko was determined to cast the long-range Space Magic. It was the only way to truly escape the Queen.
For the next few minutes, she would have to rely solely on her agility to dodge her mother's attacks.
Although the Queen was fast, her massive size meant her attacks would inevitably have blind spots places she couldn't easily hit. If Kumoko could just survive for a few minutes, she could teleport away.
Just as Kumoko was focusing on casting her Space Magic, she saw her mother approaching at an unbelievably bizarre speed.
So fast! Such a colossal creature, yet it possessed such astonishing speed! Kumoko glanced back.
The monster's sheer movement was causing immense destruction.
Trees in its path were obliterated, thrown aside, leaving a scene of utter devastation. The powerful pressure it exuded sent all nearby creatures fleeing in terror. Just getting hit head-on by a monster like that would shatter Kumoko's small body into pieces.
And as the Queen charged, she fired another breath attack at Kumoko. So terrifying! Kumoko turned and ran for her life, not even thinking about trying to fight that monster directly.
The spot where Kumoko had been standing moments before was instantly turned into a crater a hundred meters wide.
"Close one! Too close!"
After Kumoko leaped away, the Queen immediately pursued, slashing at her in mid-air with her scythe-like arms.
She didn't even need fancy attack skills; any casual swipe that connected would instantly zero out Kumoko's HP.
The sweeping slash and another breath attack came together, sealing off all of Kumoko's escape routes.
In mid-air, Kumoko spun a ball of web, then kicked off it with all eight legs, using the recoil to perform an incredible evasive maneuver.
The two sweeping attacks demolished everything around them. A part of Kumoko's body was caught in the edge of the attack and instantly vanished, as if it had never existed.
Her HP dropped to just 30%. Just the aftershock could nearly kill her; a direct hit would leave no trace!
Then, the Queen Taratect started spamming skills randomly, unleashing a torrential downpour of magic. Big spells, small spells any spell that could hit Kumoko was a good spell in the Queen's eyes! Kumoko could only desperately try to survive.
However, she never expected that this magical barrage was just a feint. The Queen then unleashed another horrifyingly powerful breath attack. This time, Kumoko couldn't dodge. The overwhelming torrent of destruction instantly engulfed her.
But just at that moment, her long-range interdimensional magic finally finished casting! She immediately activated it, teleporting away at the very last, hair-raising second. If she had been even a fraction of a second later, she would have been dead.
A quarter of her body was gone. She'd lost two hind legs, and a large chunk of her back was missing. But she had survived.
"Phew..." Using poison to synthesize healing medicine for herself, a faint smile touched Kumoko's lips.
"Heh heh... I may look pathetic right now, but as long as I keep running like this, victory will definitely be mine!" Her three Parallel Minds were still munching away at her mom's soul, and her mom couldn't do anything about them. Time was on her side.
However, just as Kumoko tried to contact her three Parallel Minds, she found she couldn't reach them at all. What's going on? Did Mom block the soul communication path? Why would she do that?
At that moment, the Queen Taratect, watching the fading traces of Kumoko's space magic, seemed to enter a dazed state.
In her mind, another, human-like figure appeared.
This figure was an alluring and beautiful woman. Seeing the Queen Taratect's soul being relentlessly devoured, she looked deeply pained.
"My daughter, why are you in such a wretched state!" she exclaimed. She actually called the Queen Taratect her daughter! Which meant... she was Kumoko's grandmother!
The Demon Lord, Ariel!
Just three small spider soul-constructs... how could they reduce her daughter to this state? Ariel raised her hand, unleashing a soul-targeting magic attack. But as she attacked the three soul-constructs, a single word appeared:
[Ineffective]
Ineffective? Why?!
Before she could even process it, Body Brain suddenly sensed Ariel's presence. Then, Body Brain directly lunged at Ariel...
Ariel didn't know it yet, but this currently stoic Demon Lord, after merging with Body Brain, would later become a complete goofball.

...Meanwhile, back on Teyvat...
Elliot's gaze fell upon his skill list. Back in the Elroe Labyrinth, his skills were just a flat list, displayed one after another, much like Kumoko's mother's hundreds of skills and titles listed under her name.
But now, his skill interface had undergone a dramatic change. It was strange. All he did was defeat a Stonehide Lawachurl... why would his skill interface change?
