Chapter 5 - The king has found a bride

Unsure of why I was running, I paused and took a breath, and then I remembered that I might have angered the king with my attitude a while back. I do not want anything to do with royalty; neither do I want my family to suffer for my unthoughtful attitude, so I continued my search until I got to where my mom was pacing around, probably in search of something, as I noticed that people were leaving. "There you are, Ana. We should be heading back. It was announced earlier that the king is busy and will not grace us with his presence. Why will the king do that, Mama? Brandy asked as we got to where she and Papa were standing and waiting for us; she sounded sad, but I was internally grateful and praying we leave here in one piece, hoping that with the king's importance and business he will forget that some "commoner" dared to speak back at him or question his importance.

As we rode home, Andy seemed to be in a lighter mood, telling me about things and people she got to see and interact with in the palace, "Do I have the aura of a queen, Mama?" Brandy suddenly asked, and everyone seemed to be caught off guard as we soon realized that Brandy was convinced she stood out in the crowd and would surely find a way to be queen; I could not agree less.

Brandy's energy soon wore out and she slept off leaving me to pull out my old book and continue reading in the silence, when we arrived home, I quickly changed from my attire, showered and made my way to the bed, in a haste to continue reading my book, the book always took my out of this world entirely and I loved being in it's presence along the way my mind got divided as I thought of the eventful day I had, I did not think half of the days drama will play out like that, my favorite part of the day is definitely the flowers in the garden and now I had fear I am trying to tuck somewhere behind my mind by telling myself that it was late and the king will probably get busy and forget my sharp tongue, I heard that some people called him the devil, though I do not engage myself with anyone talk more of the gossips that pass around, it is a viral news that the current king is ruthless and feared by everyone.

A gasp found its way out of my lips when I noticed that my bracelet was gone. I have had it since forever; my grandma Willow gave it to me and told me never to take it off. I tried to think of the possibility of being able to trace its whereabouts, but all my thoughts kept being redirected to the palace. I got down from the bed and tried checking around, hoping that it would be somewhere around even though I knew it was not. How do I get it from the palace? I thought as sleep finally consumed me...

Wake up, Ana! I am not a morning person, and everyone knows that, I grumbled as Brandy continued to shake me as my brain suddenly registered what Brandy had been saying: "The king has found a bride!"
