Chapter 2 - The World of 8100 AI

With technology advanced enough to transfer consciousness into a robotic body, Anders now found himself in a sleek black robot named Zoldic 9073. This model was a high-level assassin developed by a secret corporation led by Zereka, known as Kripton Magnum.

"Do... I have a real body? Is this the real world?" Anders asked, his voice filled with confusion.

"Yes, Grandfather," Zereka replied calmly. "This is the real world, transmitting the mind's essence into the future. We are now in the year 8100 AI."

"Wait a minute, what about my body in the original world? The one from before, in the year 7992?" Anders asked, still struggling to fully grasp the reality of what was happening.

"To explain everything briefly, I'll provide you with a system that will inform you explicitly about everything that has happened, both in the past and up until today," Zereka answered.

Now in a robotic body that felt as if it had just been born, Anders slowly began to adjust to his new, highly advanced form. Every system within the robot aided in his rapid adaptation.

Through the transmission of neuron memories via quantum mechanics, time seemed to compress into mere seconds. All the information about this world was directly fed into the brain now functioning within Anders' robotic body. This process had a profound impact, allowing Anders to comprehend everything at an incredible speed.

"We can't be certain of the success of long-term mind transmission. Therefore, we must act quickly," Zereka warned.

As his consciousness began to fully recover, Anders felt as if he had become someone else—almost as if he had completely become this new body.

"So, my name is Zoldic, series 9073?" Anders asked, now seemingly embodying Zoldic.

"Exactly," Zereka replied. "Zoldic is a random name we assign to the experimental robots we create. The series number 9073 indicates the total number of robots we have built. That means I've attempted the mind transmission 9072 times in the past. What I brought along were various life forms—animals, plants, and bacteria—because they are part of my mental network, or in other words, they were connected to the neural system of my ancestors, but they all failed since they were creatures with consciousness and thought systems different from humans."

"Huh?! You mean, you've tried 9072 times to connect with someone in the past who shared the same blood, neural networks, and DNA?" Zoldic asked, bewildered.

"Yes, that's correct," Zereka answered firmly. "I succeeded after attempting transmission through dreams, with a success rate of only one in two million."

Zoldic was stunned. "So, what now? What do we do?" he asked, trying to make sense of the situation.

"With all the data now stored in the memory of your body, you should already know almost everything about this world, right?" Zereka continued. "In March of 7999, an elite global corporation began spreading tuberculosis virus to developing countries. They then treated the virus with a chip-based immunity system, allowing them to control the thoughts and nervous systems of anyone implanted with the chip. Seeing the extraordinary results, all developed nations demanded the same immunity system, and eventually, the global elite corporation took control of the entire world."

"If all the developed countries requested this immunity, how did they control everyone?" Zoldic asked with curiosity.

"They controlled humanity by controlling their minds. Anyone implanted with this chip could be remotely controlled," Zereka explained.

"Wait... Haaa?? You mean, in 7999, all of humanity was implanted with chips?" Zoldic asked, shocked.

"That's right," Zereka affirmed. "The year 7999 is known as BI (Before Immune), which means before the chip-based immunity system was implemented. After that, we entered the era of AI (After Immune), marking the time when all humans with the chip implants are under control, up to today—the year 8100 AI."

Zoldic fell into a deep silence as he processed Zereka's explanation. For years, he had believed that it would be impossible for one entity to dominate the entire world. But now, he realized the horrifying truth was far worse than anything he had ever imagined.

"So, what about you now? Were you also implanted with a chip? How is it possible that your consciousness stands on its own?" Zoldic asked, still filled with confusion, trying to comprehend the new information.

"Yes, the central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord, which work together to regulate and control the body's functions. The brain receives and processes information from the body, while the spinal cord acts as the transmission pathway for signals between the brain and the body. Both are protected by bone structures and protective layers to safeguard vital functions. Now, the chip is implanted in the spinal cord, affecting all motor movements and information entering the body. Therefore, every newborn baby is implanted with this chip, with the purpose of strengthening the immune system through immunization," Zereka explained calmly.

"Hmm... Based on your explanation, does that mean you are my great-grandchild? My great-great-grandchild? Or how many generations removed am I?" Zoldic asked, trying to connect the dots.

"I am the fourth in line, more precisely, your great-grandchild," Zereka answered. "After the chip is implanted, humans can only live until the age of 25. That means, after receiving the chip, they are regulated to become slaves and commodities by the elite groups. They control when humans should reproduce, when they should work, and every aspect of their lives is controlled by them through the chip implanted in the spinal cord. This is what causes humans to die at the age of 25—because their brains die at that age. After receiving the chip as babies, the connection between their brains and bodies is severed, and the chip implanted in the spinal cord acts as the brain's regulator, while the original brain, now disconnected, gradually dies."

"Ha?! So they turn all of humanity into slaves after implanting the chip?" Zoldic asked in shock, struggling to grasp how horrifying this scenario truly was.

"Exactly," Zereka replied. "I've attempted 9072 times to activate neurons in a body before the chip was implanted, because once I enter a body with an implanted chip, the brain is already dead," she explained with a tone full of regret.

"Bastards! So they treat humans like robots after implanting the chip?" Zoldic exclaimed, both disappointed and furious. "But you still haven't told me how your consciousness is able to stand on its own," he added.

"Oh, yes," Zereka gave a slight smile. "I can think for myself because I separated my brain from my body. There were some people involved in the creation of this robotic technology who succeeded in thinking again after the chip in their bodies was forcibly deactivated. Some of them, due to accidents, had the chips in their bodies damaged and destroyed. One of them was Mr. Blorry. After the chip in his spinal cord broke, he revived with his original brain. Once he realized that all of humanity had become robots implanted with chips to be turned into slaves, he began abducting children's bodies to forcibly extract their brains. Even though their brains were taken, their bodies remained alive but were still fully enslaved. After thousands of trials, Mr. Blorry finally gave my brain a place in this robot, while my original body now remains enslaved in the Republic of Kisola."

"So where is Mr. Blorry now? Why are you the only one here?" Zoldic asked, becoming more intrigued by Zereka's story.

"He's dead," Zereka replied quietly. "He was killed by the Zovok Dragon Force, an organization that serves as the robotic army for the global elites."

"So, what you mean is... your original body is still alive, but your brain is in this robot? How is it possible to have two lives in one body?" Zoldic asked, slowly beginning to grasp the complexity of the situation.

"Quantum mechanics," Zereka answered, her tone explaining. "A concept involving quantum time and the brain's analytical system that grants life. Once again, I say, the people who have had the chip implanted are essentially like robots. They no longer have life. Just like you, in this state, you're alive, but in the year 7992, you were in a state of suspended animation, right? Which means, even though your body is alive, there is no soul within it."
