Ava slowly opened her eyes, taking in her surroundings. She was in a hospital room, surrounded by beeping machines and sterile white walls. As she tried to piece together how she ended up there, she heard a deep, soothing voice.
Her gaze drifted toward the source of the voice, and she saw a young man sitting in a chair beside her bed.
He looked like he was in his late 20s, with perfectly styled hair and chiseled features. His deep black eyes seemed to see right through her as he scrolled through his phone.
Ava's attention was captivated by his slightly parted lips, which he occasionally breathed out of as he concentrated on his screen.
Another voice spoke up in the room, but Ava's focus remained on the handsome stranger. When he suddenly looked up and caught her staring, Ava felt a rush of embarrassment.
His presence was intimidating, and Ava's confidence wavered.
As she struggled to regain her composure, the stranger's gaze held hers, making her feel like he could see right through to her very soul, and then he went back to scrolling on his phone.
Alex stood up, He signaled to Rowan, his expression unreadable. "Inform Liam," he said curtly before turning to leave.
Rowan nodded and followed Alex out of the room. "I'll call a nurse to take care of you," he told the girl calmly as he trailed behind Alex.
Ava's eyes followed Alex as he left the room, She thought to herself, "It's not like I haven't seen more handsome men than him before."
A voice in her head quickly chimed in, calling her a liar. Ava shrugged it off, then her mind wandered to Caleb and Mia,
She felt a wave of betrayal wash over her, remembering how Caleb had cheated on her with Mia. They'd been together since she graduated from college, but it seemed like he'd been unfaithful for most of their relationship.
Ava's thoughts were interrupted by a team of nurses and doctors filing into the room. She raised an eyebrow, wondering if she was in the VIP ward.
The medical team swarmed around her, assessing her condition, running tests and monitoring her responses to determine the extent of her recovery.
After a while Aiden rushed in excitedly. "Sissy!!" he shouted, as he hugged her tightly. On his way back he had heard that the patient staying in ward A who was in coma had woken up and he knew it was his sister.Ava rubbed his hair, smiling. "Who knew you could be this affectionate?" she said weakly.
"How have you been? How's Mum?" Ava asked with difficulty. Aiden smiled, wiping away a tear that had formed in the corner of his eye.
"Mum's fine, she's at home. We've been so worried about you," he replied. Their conversation was interrupted by nurses pushing a tray of food into the room. They assisted Ava in sitting up while feeding her.
Aiden insisted on feeding her himself, but Ava told him not to worry. "Mum will be so happy to hear this," he said, pulling out his phone to call their mother.
