Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: meeting part 2

Putting pen to paper, Evan Seller was having, in no uncertain terms, the worst day of his life. This was only due to one thing, but could it even be called a thing since it was a person. Well, the emphasis on was...

Shifa had, after their last conservation, not been able to talk to Evan due to the fact that he was ignoring her. He looked away every time she tried to get in his face or glazed his eyes, focusing on his surroundings instead.

This continued on for two days since her arrival, with Evan not speaking a word to her, simply ignoring her existence.

Although this also gave Evan his own problems, as he had been unable to meet with the reporter that he originally had been planning to meet a few days ago. (The reason for this is that Evan could go to meet with the reporter. It would be to do something almost certainly illegal. Doing this knowing the ghost was watching him made him feel paranoid. Although in this case it was justified. Simply put, he was scared that he would lose his nerve during the meeting and be put at a disadvantage).

Evan knew this couldn't last forever as he locked the doors to his office doing some work until everyone had left for the day.

"Sit down. I want to talk to you."

The sudden callout surprised Shifa, but knowing that she might lose him if she didn't take this chance, she sat down in the chair opposite his desk. Even though she couldn't physically touch the chair, she did her best to sit upright with her back straight, attentive to Evan's face and body language and ready to do whatever it takes to make him listen.

"I'm going to ask you what you want. If you give me some vague answer again or lie. Then I will never talk to you again. Understood"

The way he now talked to Shifa slightly miffed her as she felt as if she was back in school being talked to by a teacher. A feeling of a gap that clearly said who was superior and who was not. Perhaps this was why she never liked school, opting to never really go to school unless it was for an exam. In her mind, this was all schools were good for.

Although due to this, she never had many friends, most being online, meaning she had never even seen their real faces, much less what their actual names were.

"Okay. Ask your questions, but I want you to know that I may be unable to answer some."

"You mean whoever sent you won't allow you to say the reason they sent you."

At the very least, Evan, despite his quick temper and stubbornness, was still considered by many to be quite capable, allowing him to become the man he is today.

"Yeah, I can't say the exact reason why I was sent, but it was to help you."

"Help me with what?"

"To help you become a better person"

At this, Evan laughed at the ghost's words. A better person, how ridiculous. What did that matter? Being a better person never gave you anything. All it did was let those around you take advantage.

"I'm not joking, that's why I was sent here to make you see the error of your ways"

"And if I do. Do I get a reward or is there something that you, with your ghostly powers, can grant me?"

Shifa stared at the man's face in silence once again. Questioning whether to lie or to be honest with him about the fact that she had no idea what would happen.

"In other words, you are just a waste of time and, in the end, just another incompetent."

At this, Shifa felt her emotions turn slightly red, suddenly feeling the need to give this man a good slap.

She realized a man like this can't be won by talking and negotiating. A man like this had gotten everything he had ever wanted by doing just that.

Getting up from the chair, she approached Evan, phasing through his desk" I don't care what you think of me or what your fucking beliefs are, because you can't get rid of me, so you either get rid of the attitude and the bloody silent treatment, or I will haunt you for the rest of your fucking life. "Is that understood!" the last sentence was shouted with a rage that Shifa didn't know she'd had but after days of ignoring and trying she had had enough of the bullshit.

Evan, shocked at the sudden outburst, concluded that they had reached an impasse. He didn't actually want to acknowledge the ghost's presence, but if he didn't, and he was stuck with a ghost watching his back for the rest of his life, he would surely go insane.

"Okay, what do you want then?"

" I want you to stop ignoring me and listen to me when I have something to say"

"And that's all"

"It's enough" At this point, even though she was a ghost who didn't need to eat or drink, she still felt physically and mentally drained. She didn't know that anger was so exhausting.

Taking out his phone, he opened up his texts.

Shifa, who was still tired, still couldn't stop her curiosity as she asked "What are you doing?"

"Setting up a meeting. "I'll explain on the way." Surprised by Evan actually answering, as until that point she hadn't really talked to the man, she smiled. It seemed she was finally making progress.
