Chapter 4 - DD—Chapter 4: Innate Origin Metal Qi, "Innate Technique"

DD—Chapter 4: Innate Origin Metal Qi, "Innate Technique"

"It's done!"

Dai Chengfeng was ecstatic, but he did not cease his practice. Instead, he focused on guiding the soul power and Origin Metal Qi to slowly descend.

After all, there was only one last step left: circulating the one cycle. Only when the soul power and Origin Metal Qi completed a full cycle within his body could he truly claim success?

With that thought, Dai Chengfeng began to direct the two types of qi to flow from the top of his head down the front of his body, traversing through his spleen and stomach...

In this heightened state of perception, he could distinctly feel the acquired qi in his spleen and stomach bubbling like lively fish, merging seamlessly with the two existing energies.

From midnight to yin, nearly two hours slipped by as he fully integrated the innate and acquired qi, dispersing this unified energy into his internal organs.

He could sense the nourishing effects spreading through him; his heart beat with renewed vigor, his lungs breathed more freely, and his kidneys brimmed with vitality...

As the sky lightened and the first rays of morning purple qi emerged, Dai Chengfeng again felt the blockage between his lower tailbone gate and the middle kidney spine gate.

However, this time the situation was markedly different. Perhaps it was due to the strands of innate qi he had cultivated himself—though the flow between the lower tailbone and middle kidney spine gates remained sluggish, it was not entirely obstructed.

Yet, Dai Chengfeng decided against pushing further. After nearly a day and a night of practice, he understood the adage: haste makes waste.

"Hu~"

He exhaled a long breath, slowly collecting the weak energies from his practice into his dantian.

With that, the circulation cycle was complete.

Dai Chengfeng opened his eyes, his tiger-like gaze shining with golden light, completely unable to disguise the excitement within.

"The first soul skill, Origin Metal Qi!"

A small wisp of Origin Metal Qi flickered at his fingertips, resembling a tiny, dancing flame.

This wisp was different from any he had conjured before—the sharpness radiating from it was palpable as if it could cut through the very fabric of space itself.

"Perhaps it would be more fitting to call you the innate Origin Metal Qi!"

Dai Chengfeng beamed. He was eager to test the capabilities of his new innate Origin Metal Qi. Turning toward the Iron Pig resting on the small table nearby, he raised his hand and leaned closer.

But in the next heartbeat...

"Hiss!"

Dai Chengfeng gasped, disbelief etched across his face. "This... this is the power of the innate Origin Metal Qi?"

Before he had even made contact with the Iron Pig, it had been sliced effortlessly, as if struck by an invisible, razor-sharp blade. A deep cut appeared instantly.

"This strength has more than doubled!"

Though his Origin Metal Qi could previously cut the Iron Pig, it had required delicate precision.

Now, even the mere aura leaking from his innate Origin Metal Qi effortlessly sliced through the iron.

The sharpness was unfathomable!

A smile cracked across Dai Chengfeng's lips, pride surging in his chest.

"And this is just a wisp!"

At that moment, Dai Chengfeng couldn't help but envision the overwhelming power he would possess once he converted all the Origin Metal Qi in his body to its innate form.

What would become of the White Tiger Shield Body Barrier? It would crumble at a mere touch!

A swell of triumph bubbled within Dai Chengfeng as he imagined himself exclaiming, "I will ascend and conquer—how could I settle for being a commoner?!"

"Father!"

"When I return to Star Luo City, I will reign supreme as the White Emperor!"

Yet, the most significant aspect of his practice exceeded the mere existence of that one wisp of innate Origin Metal Qi.

He had forged a groundbreaking technique, one that had never been witnessed in the Douluo Continent—and possibly never would again. This method allowed soul power to transition from acquired to innate, shattering long-held beliefs within the world.

He even realized he could utilize soul power to activate the Upper Pass Jade Pillow Pass, entering the realm of subtle perception.

To put this in perspective, Tang San's Purple Demon Eye comprises four realms: the first being the Overall View; the second, Subtlety; the third, Mustard Seed; and the fourth, Vastness.

He would need to laboriously practice from the foundational Overall View just to reach the first level.

In contrast, Dai Chengfeng's technique granted him an immediate leap past that initial challenge and straight into the realm of Subtlety. The implications of this technique's potential were staggering.

Moreover, Subtlety wasn't Dai Chengfeng's ultimate limit. The fourth level of Vastness might even fall short of his aspirations.

"This is an exhilarating surprise!" he declared, grinning.

When crafting this technique, Dai Chengfeng had solely aimed to facilitate the return of his soul power and Origin Metal Qi from acquired to innate—never did he expect to uncover such remarkable additional benefits.

"But since this is a technique, it deserves a name..."

He stroked his chin, pondering. "Since it enables the transformation of soul power from acquired to innate, why not call it 'Innate Technique'?"

"It's simple, straightforward, and easily understood."

Dai Chengfeng nodded decisively, setting aside any further thoughts about the name.

"The only regret this time is that my White Tiger Martial Soul remains unchanged..."

Nevertheless, he didn't falter in his confidence.

Currently, he had only a wisp of innate Origin Metal Qi—a paltry start, to be honest. It was understandable that the White Tiger Martial Soul hadn't transformed yet.

He was confident that as he continued to amass more innate Origin Metal Qi, the day would arrive when the White Tiger Martial Soul would shed its mortal form and unveil its majestic status as an innate holy spirit.

What Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon?!

A shaggy dragon wasn't worthy of suppressing the White Tiger, one of the four innate holy spirits!

With these thoughts in mind, Dai Chengfeng exited the carriage.

"Uncle, is there anything to eat?"

After all, Dai Chengfeng was just a thirteen-level soul master now; fasting was not an option. Having trained for a day and a night, he was famished.

Zhu Fan had been vigilantly waiting outside the carriage. Seeing Dai Chengfeng finally conclude his practice, he quickly replied, "Yes, yes! I've prepared nine servings of dried food... eh?"

Zhu Fan suddenly paused mid-sentence.

He noticed that His Highness Chengfeng appeared somewhat different from his recollections.

The youthful visage remained unchanged...

Yet, there was an indescribable sense of majesty and holiness surrounding him, like an invisible light enveloping his being.

Even Zhu Fan felt a flicker of unease from his martial soul, the Hell Spirit Cat.

With widened eyes, Zhu Fan stared at Dai Chengfeng, attempting to discern any unusual changes.

But in just a blink, the aura vanished as swiftly as it had come, leaving his martial soul to return to normal.

"What's wrong, Uncle?" Dai Chengfeng asked, noticing Zhu Fan's sudden change in demeanor.

Zhu Fan managed an awkward smile. "No, nothing at all! I must have been too tired and imagined it."

He muttered under his breath, "What kind of changes can a six-year-old child truly exhibit, let alone inspire fear in my martial soul?"

"I must just be overly anxious."

Brushing it off, Zhu Fan hastily retrieved the dry food he had set aside in his space ring and handed it to Dai Chengfeng.

As Dai Chengfeng started devouring the food, he inquired, "Uncle, how long until we reach Wu'an City?"

Zhu Fan pulled out his portion of dry food and began munching as he replied, "Chengfeng, our carriage isn't the best, and the horses your father provided are also subpar."

"So, I estimate it will take us two months to arrive."

With a cautious tone, he added, "In truth, His Majesty assigned us these inferior horses to limit our distance.

"As long as you're willing to admit your mistakes to him, we can return to Star Luo City."

"What do you think?"

Dai Chengfeng merely smiled and shook his head.

Return?

He couldn't entertain that thought right now!

He was eager to head to Wu'an City, absorb the life-and-death energy of the battlefield, and fortify his White Tiger Martial Soul...

After finishing an entire portion of dried food, Dai Chengfeng leaped back onto the carriage. "Uncle, let's go."
