Chapter 34 - Ryuuen Kakeru

Kaoru Mitoma had no idea what was going on in Class D. He didn't write much about it in his report, just briefly mentioned that Nagumo Miyabi from the second year had managed to climb up to Class A in just one semester.

If nothing unexpected happens, Horikita Suzune is probably pretty interested right now. But for now, I still don't know if she actually has what it takes to lead a class. If she doesn't, I might as well squeeze everything I can out of Horikita Suzune and get her expelled as soon as possible.

As for getting Horikita Manabu expelled, that's a bit trickier. He's the student council president, after all, and the core of Class 3-A. Unless, of course, I can bribe the board and the principal to tweak the rules a little.

Lost in thought, Kaoru Mitoma finally arrived at the door of Class C, just in time to see a magenta-haired boy walk out of the classroom, followed by a few others. In that instant, the boy's eyes met Kaoru Mitoma.

"Hehehe, you don't want your class promotion plan to fail, do you, Dragon Boy,"

"Rally Class C to overthrow Ryuuen Kakeru rule,"

"Let Ryuuen Kakeru rule the first-years with violence,"

"Want to see Ryuuen Kakeru beat up Ayanokouji,"

"Actually, Ryuuen Kakeru could wear a maid outfit to attract customers,"

"Destroy Ryuuen Kakeru will"

....

Just like a few days ago, a few wishes kept popping up around him. Kaoru Mitoma was already used to it by now, so he didn't make a fuss. But unlike last time, the big Black guy stood silently behind him this time—looks like he's been properly trained.

"Are you Ryūen from Class C?" Kaoru Mitoma took the initiative to greet him.

Ryūen Kakeru frowned. He'd thought this guy was just some random passerby, but it turned out he was here for him.

"Heh, which class are you from?" His sharp gaze locked onto Kaoru Mitoma like a venomous snake. Combined with his delinquent getup and the lackeys behind him, he gave off an intimidating vibe. If it were any ordinary student, they'd probably be scared out of their wits by now.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Mitoma from Year 1, Class A." At the same time, Kaoru Mitoma noticed that students from Class C were filing out of the classroom, which surprised him a little. Judging from this, Ryūen Kakeru must have just made some kind of announcement to the class, otherwise there wouldn't be so many people still hanging around.

"So you're from Class A. What do you want with me? You're not here to make fun of us, are you?" Ryūen Kakeru put on a smile, but he was clearly on guard.

He didn't even know this guy, and for him to show up at such a critical moment was way too suspicious!

After more than a week of back-and-forth, the black student Albert finally couldn't take Ryuen Kakeru pressure anymore and surrendered today, acknowledging Ryuen kakeru as the boss. With that, Ryuen Kakeru had basically subdued all the students in his class, and just now he'd even forced the class to obey his orders.

Anyone paying attention would easily notice that all the C Class students coming out of the classroom now looked at Ryuen Kakeru with eyes full of fear. His methods were simple—just a bit of violence, that's all.

In fact, when Ryuen Kakeru beat the other delinquents into submission, the whole class had witnessed it. Albert was just the last one.

After dealing with these people, C Class submission was only natural. Just when he was feeling on top of the world, an A Class guy suddenly showed up, and Ryuen Kakeru mood instantly soured. He even suspected that someone in the class had tipped them off. Otherwise, why would Kaoru Mitoma call him out by name right away?

Even though Ryuen Kakeru didn't care to hide anything, ruling the class by force was still a pretty disgraceful tactic. If A Class used this against him, it'd be bad news for both him and C Class.

"I want to talk to you about something useful, but before that, I need to confirm something." Kaoru Mitoma ignored his probing.

"Are you the recognized leader of Class C now?"

As soon as he said this, Ryuuen Kakeru didn't show any change in expression, but someone behind him couldn't help but speak up.

"Hey, hey, what the hell are you talking about?"

Maybe he took the words as a provocation, the boy glared at Kaoru Mitoma with hostility. For a delinquent, it really did sound like a challenge.

"Heh, Ishizaki, shut up. No one asked for your opinion." Ryuuen sneered.

"I don't know why you set your sights on me, but Class C is mine now. If you've got something to say, spit it out."

Hearing this, a short-haired girl behind him turned her head away in disdain. The students of Class C naturally noticed what was happening in front of them. Almost everyone could hear what was said—some were unwilling, others were afraid.

"How much do you know about the school's rules?" Kaoru Mitoma asked.

Ryuuen Kakeru raised an eyebrow, a mocking smile appearing on his face.

"At least i know that your Class A is the enemy, so-called elite students." Kaoru Mitoma nodded.

"More than I expected, so, are you looking to cooperate?"

"Cooperate on what?" Ryuuen Kakeru suddenly looked interested.

"Class C wants to climb up, and Class B is your first obstacle. Class A wants to keep its position, and Class B is also the first target to eliminate."

"Interesting. School just started and your Class A already wants to go after Class B. That's some guts."

Ryuuen Kakeru sighed, then his smile grew wider.

"But I have a question. Are you with Sakayanagi, or with Katsuragi?"

Kaoru Mitoma wasn't surprised at all. The infighting in Class A was way too obvious there was no way to hide it. Not just Class A, actually. The violent behavior in Class C was also well-known among the first-years, especially the rumors about Ryuuen Kakeru, though the details were unclear.

"For now, I'm on my own. So you don't have to worry about getting dragged into Class A internal struggle. It won't do your Class C any harm."

Kaoru Mitoma answered patiently.

"... ... "

Ryuuen Kakeru almost burst out laughing. He couldn't wait to see Class A tear itself apart, and he'd love nothing more than to fan the flames from the sidelines. Saying he didn't need to worry about getting caught up in Class A infighting—was that supposed to be some kind of joke?

"Cut the crap, Mitoma. What do you want?" Ryuen asked bluntly.

"The school put you all in Class C and gave you the same number of points. That means this month is just an observation period for the school," Kaoru Mitoma said.

"As long as you perform well, you can totally turn the tables and change your class ranking in just a month."

Ryuen had also vaguely guessed something about the S System, but that was mostly thanks to the hints their homeroom teacher in Class C had given them. (Sakagami Goat)

"The school hasn't told us anything. The lack of information itself is a test. They want to see how students act when they don't know what's going on. I think that's the whole point of splitting us into classes from the start."

"As for Class A, honestly, there's nothing much to say about their performance. But you guys in Class C and D—what kind of impression do you think you'll leave on the school?"

Ryuen initial disdain slowly turned into a serious expression. After hearing Kaoru Mitoma explanation, he finally started to realize what was going on.

"Actually, the best way for Class C to surpass Class B this month is pretty simple. Since Class A is considered the best by the school, if you copy them and learn from them, and at the same time sabotage Class B, you should be able to move up easily."

"Basically, whatever kind of talent the school wants us to be, just pretend to be that."
