Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 - the boss

The boss of Section Two, whom Marian introduced, was a gigantic, beastly figure. Although they couldn't clearly see his face from the distance, they could still grasp that it was incredibly ugly and deformed.

"Is he even human?" Auran asked after observing the figure for a while.

"He's inhuman. I heard he's related to orcs, but not completely. Some say he's a mixed breed between an orc and a minotaur, which gives him monstrous raw strength—even without using mana," Marian explained.

Back in Section Two, once the boss of the field entered the battle, the atmosphere instantly turned into that of a bloody battlefield. He charged forward alone, and despite facing mana blasters and spells, he showed no concern. Following behind him were his most trusted subordinates—and among them was the woman who had once announced the battle area when Auran and Henry fought the slaves.

"Along with his natural strength, he also possesses insanely high mana resistance," Auran observed as Henry nodded from the side.

"Indeed. To take mana blaster strikes head-on—and not just one, but countless strikes... that's not something a normal being could endure."

"There!"

Suddenly, Octo's voice rang out as he pointed at the sky. Looking in the direction he indicated, Auran saw a flying ship approaching.

"It's finally here," he said as he stepped forward and observed the ship drawing closer to the protective shield surrounding the prison. Under his watchful gaze, the ship safely passed through the shield and entered the prison airspace.

"What's going on?"

Inside the ship, the technician's voice echoed from the speaker. Beside the man holding the speaker stood a fierce-looking woman, surveying the chaotic atmosphere below.

"Grand Technician, it seems the prison is undergoing a riot," she reported.

"What? My sons?! No matter what—save my sons!" screamed the Grand Technician through the speaker.

"But Grand Technician," said the woman beside the controls as she continued observing the situation below, "as the chief of security and technician assigned to the government officer, our first priority should be to assist in subduing the situation in the prison."

"Do not forget who you're working for, Chief. Before doing anything else, I want you to bring my sons back safely!" the Grand Technician ordered firmly through the speaker.

"I obey your orders, Grand Technician," the woman replied after a moment, obediently.

"Chief, you might want to see this."

Just then, another officer inside the ship pointed toward a specific direction within the prison. Looking in that direction, the woman saw a few figures standing on top of the prison headquarters, waving at their ship.

Upon observing more closely, she recognized that two of them were holding the very sons of the Grand Technician.

"What's the situation?" the Grand Technician asked immediately.

"It's fortunate, sir. It seems the warden managed to send the young masters to the rooftop. However... they appear to be unconscious," the woman replied.

"Really? Then go get them quickly!" the Grand Technician exclaimed with relief upon hearing his sons were still alive.

Following his command, the woman—who was the Chief in charge of the Grand Technician's security—gave the order to lower the ship to the prison roof.

"It's getting closer," said Marian as the ship, which moments ago hovered high in the sky, gradually descended toward them.

"By the way," Octo suddenly asked while glancing at a few medium-sized ships resting a short distance away, "why didn't we just take one of those ships to escape instead of waiting for this one to come here?"

"It's because none of you properly know how to start a ship, and even if I did, it would take about half an hour to get those ships into a suitable state to fly. So just act like officers until that ship lands. Then we just have to snatch it and fly off beyond the shield," said Auran, looking at the ship that was getting closer. It took about ten minutes until the ship finally landed, and a woman and a man holding a long distance communication device stepped out.

"Why are both of the young masters unconscious?" asked the Chief.

"Because both of them were exposed to a sleeping spell cast by a prisoner," Auran answered calmly, stepping forward as the first to speak among the group.

Right... I should have asked about the riot first, the Chief thought to herself before speaking again.

"Bring the young masters inside and explain to me what's going on in the prison."

The Chief showed no suspicion that these guards could be prisoners. The first reason was that the chaos unfolding in the prison was mostly centered in the outer sections and hadn't yet reached headquarters. The second reason was simply that it hadn't crossed her mind—she was too focused on the fact that the prison had turned into chaos.

At her command, Auran looked at the others, nodded, and advanced toward the ship.

"It's our fortune to meet you. I'm Officer Auran," he said once close, offering his hand to the Chief for a handshake. Thinking nothing of it, the Chief casually returned the greeting.

"Chief Officer Lemantine—Ah!" However, once Auran grabbed her hand, he suddenly pulled her forward and stepped past her before turning and kicking her away from the ship.

"Now!" he shouted as he ran into the ship. At his signal, the others reacted quickly.

They stood on slightly higher ground because the ship's entry required walking down a stair ramp that extended from the ship, wide enough for only two people at a time—so they had to act carefully but swiftly.

The first in line was Marian, followed by Henry. At Henry's word, Marian quickly lunged at the man with the radio in his hand.

Although the man showed some skill in evasion, he was overpowered by her raw strength and thrown away—just like what had happened to the Chief. Marian then ran into the ship.

However, once in the doorway, she stopped because of Auran's instructions, but auran continued running further in.

The Chief, who had fallen from a considerable height, was about to hit the top floor of the headquarters when a protection shield appeared around her body, cushioning her fall.
