Chapter 22 - Escaping

Under Marco protection, Pryce watched with great interest as the three powerhouses clashed in a fierce battle.

Is this what a battle beyond the level of an admiral looks like? Although he had seen Shanks and Whitebeard in action, the two had no real enmity, and their exchanges were more like light sparring. But the relationship between Whitebeard, Sengoku, and Garp was entirely different!

To put it nicely, they were old rivals, to put it bluntly, they were mortal enemies! Every move was ruthless, every strike delivered with full force.

Soon, even the sturdy plaza floor couldn't withstand the impact of their battle, cracking inch by inch.

Pryce found it absolutely thrilling! Whitebeard swung his murakumogiri, infused with the overwhelming Conqueror Haki, slashing down at Garp. At the same time, Sengoku massive golden fist, also infused with Conqueror Haki, collided with the blade.

Boom!

The clash of Conqueror's Haki stunned everyone present, even Pryce under Marco protection, to experience a sudden ringing in their ears.

The deafening roar echoed across the sky! Both Whitebeard and Sengoku were forced to retreat several steps. By now, Marco had noticed more and more vice admirals gathering around, eyeing them with hostility.

"Pops, let's go!"

"There are too many vice admirals here!" Marco whispered urgently to Whitebeard from behind.

"You're right, my strength hasn't fully recovered yet. Sengoku and Garp can keep me occupied!"

"With so many vice admirals here!"

"It's going to be hard to protect both of you!"

Whitebeard glanced around at the marines who were fixated on the three of them.

"Let's go, we've had enough fun!"

"We'll come back another time!" Whitebeard laughed heartily.

Hearing this, Marco finally felt a wave of relief and quickly placed his hand on Whitebeard shoulder.

Whitebeard looked at Sengoku across the battlefield and waved dismissively.

"Damn it, they're trying to escape!"

Sengoku, noticing the mocking look in Whitebeard eyes, immediately sensed something was wrong.

"All units, move out! Stop them!"

"At the very least, stop that young man!" Sengoku roared at his officers.

At Sengoku command, the marine officers charged in unison toward the three in the plaza.

Whitebeard, however, remained unusually calm.

After all, he had weathered countless storms in his lifetime, and his composure far surpassed that of ordinary people. Pryce couldn't help but admire Whitebeard.

With a confident air, Whitebeard pulled out what appeared to be a full sheet from his pocket, ready to teleport the three of them back to the Moby Dick.

Marco smile had already spread across his face.

"Marines, goodbye! I'll come back to play another time!" Marco waved at Sengoku with a grin.

Marco cocky attitude infuriated the marines, and they sped up even more.

"Sengoku, Garp, I'll be back!"

"Gurarararara!"

Whitebeard Newgate laughed with unbridled enthusiasm.

At that moment, Pryce noticed something was wrong.

There was no purple light! What's going on?

Pryce looked closely and realized that what Whitebeard had pulled out wasn't the teleportation talisman he had used earlier.

It was just a newspaper!

Damn it! Pryce cursed inwardly.

This old man Newgate sure gets a bit carried away when he drunk! Pryce quickly took out a teleportation talisman himself.

With a flash of purple light, just as the navy soldiers in the front were less than two meters away from the three of them, they vanished from the plaza of the Marine Headquarters!

Thankfully, when Pryce used the teleportation talisman, it was much faster!

...

The next moment, the three of them finally returned to the deck of the Moby Dick.

Whitebeard and Marco hadn't yet realized that what they were holding wasn't the teleportation talisman and were still laughing heartily.

"What the hell are you laughing at?!"

"We almost got caught at the Marine Headquarters!" Pryce said helplessly.

"Huh?"

"But we're back now, aren't we?"

Marco scratched his head, not understanding why Pryce was so upset.

"Yeah, lucky I noticed in time, or we wouldn't have made it back!" Pryce glared at the two of them.

"Pryce, young people should be bold!"

"Besides, I've already mastered using this teleportation talisman!" Whitebeard was in a pretty good mood, waving the newspaper in his hand.

"Mastered my ass!"

"Captain, would you mind looking at what you're actually holding?!"

Pryce covered his face and pointed at the newspaper in Whitebeard hand, exasperated.

It was only then that Whitebeard Newgate looked down in confusion at the paper in his hand, which was supposed to be the teleportation talisman.

"Huh?"

"Where's my teleportation talisman?" Whitebeard suddenly shouted.

His shout snapped Marco out of the excitement of their daring escape from the Marine Headquarters.

"Hey, pops, that's not the talisman, it's a newspaper!" Marco said, puzzled.

"No kidding, I know that!" Whitebeard blushed, embarrassed after Marco pointed it out.

"Now you see?!"

"If I hadn't reacted quickly and use a new talisman to get us back, we'd probably still be stuck there!" Pryce rolled his eyes.

"Gurarara, got a bit carried away!"

"I won't make that mistake again!"

Whitebeard scratched his head and laughed sheepishly.

"Alright, alright, this time we've made quite a mess for ourselves!"

"I'm tired, going back to sleep!" Pryce waved his hand dismissively and turned to head back to his room.

.....

Marineford, Marine Headquarters.

A group of vice admirals stared in shock at the now empty center of the plaza. What just happened?

Where did those three go? Sengoku frowned deeply as he looked at the spot.

Those three had appeared out of nowhere and then left just as suddenly!

Not even a trace of them remained! If it weren't for the shattered floor in the center of the plaza, Sengoku might have thought it was all just a dream!

"Sengoku... where did those three go?" Garp asked, equally confused.

"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?!"

By now, Sengoku had already deactivated his Golden Buddha form.

"That purple light might have been some new invention of that Pryce guy!" Sengoku said, furrowing his brow.

"I saw that young man take something out of his pocket and the purple light flew out from it took them away!"

Garp, who had been at the front charging toward the three, naturally saw more details.

"Get the CP organization to investigate this immediately!"
