Chapter 26: Hagrid, King of Monsters
In the early morning, the ball-escaping birds fluttered through the woods. Sunlight shone through the dense canopy, illuminating the green, slender face of a Bowtruckle as the mist gradually dispersed.
A young unicorn, its golden coat shining brilliantly, was guarded protectively by an adult unicorn as white as moonlight. By the lakeside, the young one drank while occasionally nudging the colorful fish that exhaled bubbles at the water's surface.
In the grass, a gnome — resembling a moving potato — carefully observed the unicorns.
Not far away, the centaur Bain was teaching the young foals how to identify herbs. Usually gruff and impatient, Bain was surprisingly gentle and patient with the little ones.
Meanwhile, a group of Thestrals gathered around Hagrid, snorting and nudging each other. They occasionally dipped their heads into the bucket of bloody raw meat Hagrid had brought. Fang (Yaya), Hagrid's boarhound, trembled nervously nearby, sniffing the air but keeping his distance from the Thestrals.
Near Hagrid's hut, several hippogriffs blinked their bright orange eyes, turning their heads away proudly, an expression of arrogance and disdain on their beaked faces.
It was early morning in the Forbidden Forest.
Alexander Smith, in the form of a phoenix, perched in a tree, curiously observing Hagrid through his narrow phoenix eyes.

Such terrifying stats.
Alexander marveled silently.
His magic power is not below that of an average adult wizard, and his strength and physical constitution far surpass my current limits. If Hagrid were a little more cunning or ambitious, ordinary wizards would have no way to deal with him.
But in the original timeline, in order to avoid bringing trouble to Dumbledore, Hagrid had willingly surrendered and gone to Azkaban. What a pity. He is truly a master of both magic and martial prowess.
Lv.5 Taming skill?
Is that how he managed to cross-breed a Manticore and a Fire Crab to create the Blast-Ended Skrewt?
Lv.3 Animal Affinity?
Was that what Stone Hagrid — once revered as the King of Monsters in ancient Greece — relied on?
---
Recently, Alexander had taken to wandering around Hogwarts in his phoenix form during his free time, visiting places most students wouldn't dare to approach.
Just yesterday, after dinner, during his leisure reading time, he stumbled upon some curious stories in a book titled "Ancient Greece: The Secrets You Never Knew."
Several of these stories mentioned the Kingdom of Monsters — a mythical land populated by giants, centaurs, Thestrals, Chimeras, Catalan Fireball Dragons, and other powerful magical creatures.
According to the tales, all of these creatures lived in harmony under the rule of a single figure: Hagrid, the King of Monsters.
Of course, among the giants, he was known by another name:
> Stone Hagrid I, the Thunderstorm-born of the Hagrid Family, Hercules of the Forbidden Forest, Master of Giant Creatures, Mentor of the Dark Forest, Liberator and Lord of Dragons.
This glorious kingdom, hidden deep within the Forbidden Forest, eventually fell into ruin. Infighting among creatures, language barriers, and external wizarding interference led to its collapse. Only a few scattered travel notes survived — notes few believed were real.
One of these surviving notes was written by William Smith, an ancestor of Alexander.
It described in detail the magnificent kingdom nestled in Scotland's dark forests, where under Hagrid's leadership, magical creatures ceased preying on one another and instead survived off unintelligent creatures like cattle, sheep, and fish.
They even engaged in primitive agriculture.
Each year, on November 11th, they celebrated Hagrid's birthday with grand festivities:
Mooncalves danced under the full moon,
Augureys sang their haunting songs,
Catalan Fireball Dragons soared through the night sky, erupting fireworks,
Kelpie-like creatures sprayed water columns to extinguish rogue flames.
Alexander was amazed.
Could this ancient kingdom have existed where Hogwarts now stands?
Is the Hagrid in the legends truly Rubeus Hagrid?
---
It was said that the Hagrid bloodline possessed unique magic — the ability to awaken the rationality and kindness within magical creatures. They could perceive the hidden beauty in creatures others found monstrous, recognizing not outward appearance, but an intrinsic, species-specific beauty.
If Hagrid's father could fall in love with a giantess, it was no wonder — such a deep-seated appreciation for beauty ran in their blood.
Moreover, some theories suggested that magical creatures were originally wizards who had undergone failed magical transformations.
While most degenerated into chaotic beasts, the Hagrid lineage could soothe these broken minds.
The most striking proof of this theory lay with the Quintaped — a vicious creature inhabiting the Isle of Drear, Scotland.
The Quintapeds were once the McBoone wizarding family, cursed by their enemies, the McIver family.
The curse transformed them into five-legged monsters with immense physical strength and violent instincts.
Attempts to reverse the curse had all failed, and the cursed wizards eventually wiped out their enemies.
And yet, despite this tragic history, creatures like Aragog, the Acromantula raised by Hagrid, displayed reason, organization, and loyalty — a testament to Hagrid's rare gift.
If Hagrid hadn't found Aragog a mate from outside, Harry and Ron might have been devoured during their visit to the Forbidden Forest.
---
Fueled by curiosity and energy, Alexander had flown to Hagrid's hut early this morning, eager to observe the legendary "King of Monsters" up close.
