Chapter 180 - Chapter 180: Ground Collapse

"Huff… huff… We finally got away…"

In the darkness, the spider monster lay flat behind a boulder, peeking out nervously.

No way he followed us, right?

Brier's voice came through the earpiece: "Looks like we shook him off."

"Yeah, that was scary," Beauregard panted.

"Damn it, it was Kira in a Blue dorm uniform!" Brier gritted his teeth on the other end.

Entrapment—how dirty!

Thank goodness Beauregard could run fast.

But before they could relax, the voice of a demon echoed in their ears again.

"Hiding here, are you?"

Both of them froze, feeling a chill run down their spines.

It was him!

They turned stiffly. The Ra Yellow demon had somehow caught up, standing there with a chilling smile.

"By the way, running won't help," Kira smiled.

It seemed they lacked enough spirit affinity.

That's why they hadn't noticed that Silent Magician had been standing atop the boulder, tilting her head and watching them.

Kira had just followed at a leisurely pace, but with a spirit's gaze fixed on them, there was no escape.

A dead end—nowhere left to run.

"What do we do?" Beauregard whispered nervously into the earpiece.

"Uh, guess we'll have to fight." Brier gritted his teeth, "Don't worry, Beauregard, our teamwork is unbeatable. Even Obelisk Blue students have fallen to us.

Perfect—let's see how far we can go today."

Beauregard took a deep breath, rising to his feet: "Alright, let's go. I'll show you how strong we are together!"

"Duel!" x2

[Kira, LP 4000]

[Beauregard, LP 4000]

The duel disk's lights flashed, indicating that Kira had first-turn priority.

Kira didn't hesitate: "I'll go first. Draw.

I set a monster face-down, and one face-down card as well. Turn end."

Beauregard: "My turn. Draw!"

Brier's voice immediately sounded in the earpiece: "Summon 'Giant Orc'!"

Beauregard followed: "Summon 'Giant Orc'!"

A hulking orc, wielding a bone, muscles like rocks and steel, red eyes, and fangs, appeared on the field.

[Giant Orc, ATK 2200]

Beauregard wasn't good at actual dueling, so he was a puppet; Brier was the real strategist.

"And special summon 'Gilasaurus'!"

A sleek, streamlined dinosaur with smooth scales and powerful limbs appeared.

[Gilasaurus, ATK 1400]

"Gilasaurus's special ability: it can be special summoned from the hand. When this effect is used, your opponent can special summon a monster from their graveyard."

Kira shrugged, "There's nothing in my graveyard."

Gilasaurus's effect is mandatory, but if the opponent has no monsters, it doesn't matter.

"Going straight to battle," Beauregard said. "First, Gilasaurus attacks your set monster!"

The dinosaur charged, roaring. Kira's set monster flipped over—a six-armed spellcaster, glowing with magical golden light.

"You attacked 'Magical Merchant,'" Kira said. "When it's flipped, I reveal cards from the top of my deck until a Spell or Trap appears. That card goes to my hand; the rest go to the graveyard."

He flipped four monsters, then the fifth was a Spell: "Ojamagic."

Didn't hit Pot of Greed or Raigeki, but this was fine.

"I add 'Ojamagic' to my hand."

The magic card was added to his hand; the charging dinosaur sent the merchant spinning off the field.

"Then Giant Orc attacks directly!" Beauregard commanded.

First blood!

They'd been on a winning streak lately, gaining confidence.

"By discarding a card, I activate this trap—"

Kira discarded a card, and a set card flipped open.

"Trap Card—Karma Cut!"

The duo was startled.

They recognized this powerful removal trap.

"Discard one card: banish a monster on your opponent's field and all copies in the graveyard. I banish 'Giant Orc'!"

A transparent wave enveloped the attacking orc, sucking it into a dimensional vortex.

"Also, the card I discarded was 'Ojamagic,'" Kira added. "When it goes to the graveyard, I add Ojama Yellow, Green, and Black to my hand."

Three cards popped out and were added to his hand; the deck auto-shuffled.

"Damn it, got hit by a trap," Brier muttered. "Let's just end the turn."

Beauregard nodded, following orders: "Turn end."

"My turn. Draw."

Kira calmly revealed another card.

"First, activate the Spell 'Card of Adversity' (Anime card). If your opponent controls a Special Summoned monster and I have none, I draw two cards.

Since you have 'Gilasaurus' and I have no monsters, I draw two."

He drew two, then revealed another card.

"And now, this:

—Continuous Spell, 'Ground Collapse'!"

The ground beneath Beauregard's monsters cracked open like a broken mirror, deep fissures forming like a beast's gaping maw. Two monster zones shattered.

"What?" Brier frowned.

"'Ground Collapse' locks two of your monster zones."

Monster zone lock?

Brier had a bad feeling.

"And now, I activate 'Polymerization.'"

Kira played the three Ojama cards he'd just searched.

"Fuse Ojama Yellow, Green, and Black—the triple fusion summon—"

Three colors swirled into a fusion vortex, a powerful figure emerging in the blinding light.

"Ojama King, summon!"
