Mitchell strolled into the village, the soft hum of activity greeting him as shopkeepers opened their stalls and early risers went about their business. The sun cast a golden glow over the cobblestone streets, and the faint scent of baked goods wafted through the air. His stomach growled, a stark reminder that he hadn't eaten much since the night before because of his excitement about getting some new robes.
As he approached the Adventurer's Guild, he caught sight of Ange through the window. She was seated at a table near the corner, a plate of food in front of her and a tankard of what looked like cider. She seemed lost in thought, idly twirling her fork between her fingers while still reading a book.
"Hello". He offered a casual greeting and sag down directly opposite her. She asked him to be here by this time since she wanted to give him something.
"I can see you're enjoying those new clothes of yours". She said with a small smile but if creeped him out more than put him at ease.
"You know they cost a lot of money right?" She dug her fork into the food she was eating and swallowed.
She tapped on the table and a plate of food appeared on Mitchell's side of the table. "Um, who ordered this food" he wanted to call the attention of the store mange since h me didn't order it. "Sit down, I ordered it for you". She didn't say anything more and continued eating her food.
"Thank you". He said with gratitude. Thus food was much better than what he cooked last night and it a lot more since he wanted to ration the food to last him as long as it could.
"Don't worry about it. Can't let my investment go to waste can I?" The look on her face was emotionless.
'I knew it. She wouldn't call me here for nothing. What demon did I sell my soul to'. He was starting to sweat. If she asked him to do anything he wouldn't want to. Or take on a person or creature more powerful than himself, then he wasn't sure he could find a way out.
"What level of cultivation are you in?" She asked
"Am at the first stage of foundation building". He answered honestly since lying would do him no good anyways and maybe she would go easy on him if his realm was high enough.
"Great. Then it means we can go hunt magical beasts with our current abilities and not be at a disadvantage". Her voice held excitement within it.
'Great'. After the quick breakfast, they left towards the forest after Ange changed into her battle robes. They looked similar to normal robes but less fashionable.
"We're hunting the silver eyed dear so watch your back. It can easily see you from a kilometer away and approach very fast. Its antlers are also very deadly". Ange gave him some warnings before the hunt even started and it made him very cautious.
He had fought the golden gorilla and he knew upfront what it was capable of. The gorilla didn't even use too much Qi in its attack, except for those sonic attacks. It's skin was very hard to pierce and did not seem to have Amy weakness.
'Ahh, well if it's too tough then I'll just have to leave her and run. She didn't say I should give my life to her and I wouldn't do it anyways'. Mitchell said inwardly. If things got hard and they couldn't slay the silver eyed dear then he would not waste his time and just run.
He heard a movement in the bushes and turned to strike but felt a stabbing pain in his side. His side had been stabbed into by the antlers of the dear but it didn't seem to actually stab him too deep.
After seeing the attack on Mitchell fail, the dear then rushed to Ange in a speed that left Mitchell astonished.
He wanted to shout out to Ange but she had already moved and two daggers were in her hand. She slashed horizontally and there was a long gash on the back of the dear.
It shrieked in pain and ran away into the bushes. Its speed not impeded by the long wound at all. Ange turned to look at him and saw the wound on his stomach. She rushed to help.
"I thought I told you to be on your feet..." She said in a faint annoyance but her voice softened when the wound was already beginning to heal right in front of her eyes.
"What can I say, guess I reacted a bit too slow". By that time, the wound had almost fully healed and now the scar was also in the process of healing.
He too was shocked by his crazy healing ability and then he remembered the time he was injured after he fought with the gorilla. The wounds were a lot serious but it still healed within a short period of time and it baffled him.
'Jack, any ideas?' Mitchell asked just in case he may know what was going on.
'I would place my bet on the crimson dragon. It is a divine beast and has this insane healing speed.' Jack explanation was short but seemed logical to Mitchell.
"How did your wound heal so fast?" Ange asked when she saw even the scar was gone and only smooth flesh could be seen.
"What can I say, I have the healing abilities of a god" He said without an ounce of shame and even smirked while smiling. Ange rolled her eyes at him and decided to continue moving since he was alright.
"If you are alright then don't let the dear injure you again. It didn't take you seriously buy don't let your guard down. Next time it comes, don't hesitate to strike". Ange said and Mitchell nodded. He had seen first hand what it could do.
Its speed was amazing and he would have been out if not for his healing ability. 'Yeah. Let's kill this guy'.
